  1. Sometimes I allow myself to dream that we'll get a proper large Arkham Asylum. Then days like today make me realize we'll probably get a $500 version of Whiplash's bird from Iron Man 2 before that happens.
  2. I think the "confirmation" of the $500 set being Marvel was also in the post about Raimi sets happening and that's not happening anymore so who knows. Safe money is still Avenger's Tower though.
  3. At $500? With no recent X-Men sets or even other media to drive interest? I have a hard time seeing it. I think we'd see Arkham Asylum or Wayne Manor before that.
  4. Gonna assume you get some sort of vehicle for the helipad. The base will almost certainly be wider as well. Relative to the comics it makes perfect sense. Relative to how much room the average person has to display a Lego tower however... The height of this thing has been the only thing giving me pause as to whether it's actually Avenger's Tower. I suppose we could get a decent amount of stuff built at the bottom like how the Bugle had a news stand and whatnot. Also, in looking at pictures of the tower, it doesn't get as narrow in the middle as I remember.
  5. That's the rumor/conventional wisdom. I thin Fulcrum alluded to it as well. Gonna be one tall tower.
  6. Just really hoping for some comic accurate sets this year.
  7. As good of a guess as any IF the line continues. But a barely updated re-release of the Tumbler makes me think that's a very big if.
  8. Guess a helicarrier is more plausible now that Lego is doing re-releases of older superhero sets. It would be a hard pass for me though. I'm with you. I think I'll just spam Lego with requests for a large Arkham until they block me lol.
  9. Probably fairly safe to think Avenger's Tower. I think it was always a shootout between that and a Batman set. $500 for a Sanctum seems a little high for me. And I don't see X-Men or F4 being introduced to the line at that price.
  10. I mean, we're on three straight years of a D2C Bat-vehicle. I'd say that qualifies as annual. I'm not saying there aren't more avenues to explore at a lower price point because you're right in that Batman has the best rogues gallery, but at the $200+ level what else can we expect if we assume Lego does do a November yearly release? I love some Batmobiles from the comics like the White Knight one or The New 52, but I doubt Lego really wants to do something like that. Does the general public really have that much interest in a niche comic inspired design to play $200-$300? I doubt it. I think sometimes as DC enthusiasts we forget that these sets are aimed at both us and a more casual consumer. I'd empty my wallet for a $300 New 52 Batmobile, but I totally get why Lego wouldn't do it. I guess my surprise at this point is just kind of at the lack of comic-accurate large minifig scale sets. Just a couple of meh Batcave's and Arkaham's. I think part of the problem is the DCEU has been largely awful while the MCU, while all kind of carbon copy movies, has exploded in popularity. Just disappointed as I had hoped to have a new Arkham to display opposite my Daily Bugle.
  11. Apparently the $500 in Marvel. Which I guess isn't terribly surprising but still disappointing. Still seems odd to me that for as popular as Batman is and as much as they've leaned into him, there hasn't been a real centerpiece set like the Bugle. I'm very curious to see what they cook up for the November D2C. The fact that they essentially re-released a set last year indicates to me that they think the well has run dry. I'd be very underwhelmed with a larger '66 Batmobile, "The Bat" from TDKR isn't particularly iconic, and we've already gotten two Reeves-mobiles. Batman Forever Batmobile? Maybe? BTAS I guess could be plausible but in color/profile it feels very close to '89. I'd kind of hope that any BTAS sets would be mini-fig scale anyways. I'm probably one of the few on here who cares more about Batman stuff than other DC properties but even I'm not really sure where they go from here. Does the annual D2C move away from vehicles and move to things like Wayne Manor and Arkham? That would be my dream. Anyways, good forum. Happy to have found this place.
  12. Yeah. As cool as a Tower of Fate is, $100 doesn't strike me as "massive"
  13. Is he referencing the $500 set as being DC? Fingers crossed for a Daily Bugle style Arkahm Asylum with just as many mini-figs.
  14. At $500, it has to be one of Spider-Man, Batman, or Avengers. LEGO won't take a chance on anything outside of those three at that price point. I highly doubt a Daily Planet, Hall of Justice, or any sort of non-Batmobile vehicle could command that price from enough consumers. With the still recently released Bugle selling well, I suspect they'll stay away from Spider-Man and will instead want to to get the same customers to double-dip for the world's other most popular superhero and do an Arkham Asylum. As has been mentioned, the Asylum is easy enough to leave up to designer interpretation, is great for lots of little easter eggs like the Bugle had, and provides a good reason to have as many (if not more) mini-figs than the Bugle had. I could maybe see a Batcave, but it would have to be below Wayne Manor as I don't see LEGO returning to a modular design like the '66 Batcave at that price point. Plus, the Batcave is tough to do justice as it doesn't really lend itself all that well to recreation outside of drawings. Avenger's Tower is the wildcard here, but there's already a Marvel D2C slated for 2022 (and I think Avengers Tower would be comically tall at that price point unless it's also very wide) and we've pretty much hit the end of the road on annual bat-vehicles. Lego is going to have to switch the Batman D2C's to more building-based sets I think.
