  1. Ah great. Huge Dune fan, both books and movies. In general, I would have preferred an "outwardly nicer" display set, but especially this function with the wings from this terrific scene from the new movie is wonderful. I can understand the balancing act of the designers. But the best of all are the minifurs. Wonderful. The sets you want sound great. Just such figure sets are always welcome.
  2. At least the larger sets like city of lanterns are suitable for something like this: I think many of the designs by some mod designers that fit into the Ninjago Modular construction are quite successful, as here from the Airjitzu Temple.
  3. But so far we only know the name? No details? Another set anything similiar the style of gardens of lantern is always welcome.
  4. That looks wonderful. So many details in such a small space. The bench seats look great (which you can see from the side). The pantograph and the stickers (or custom prints?) Will she drive anywhere or only as a display model?
  5. This is exactly the BrickDaimyo model I had in mind when I thought of a suspension railway. Just great. Compact, bright, friendly and with space for the passengers. I think I would (so far) prefer the manual drive on this one if you want to move it. I find this high-pitched whirring noise of the CircuitCubes quite annoying. Unfortunately :-( I haven't seen any other motorization yet. For something on the roller coaster track, the Lightrail from JK Brickswork or the Roller Coaster Train is great, the last one can climb heights better or I think at all. This solution from plasturq on instagram is really awesome. The color and smallness of the whole model is great. Hard to imagine where the motor +batterybox is located. But here too, only on the straight track. @LemerbrixI like your mech a lot. I can well imagine him climbing a house somewhere. A mech does not necessarily have to stand on two legs. (like most) On the back, the turbine-like vents - or razorblades? (in round) look cool.
  6. Yes. That's what I thought as I was flipping through the book. Even like a road with lanes in both directions. Real really cool. The great thing is that you can really see the individual bricks in every picture. Whether you can still rebuild it like that is another matter. (For 90% of the time I always need instructions :-) ) On the other side of the book you can see this really really cool monorail (more of a suspension railway with a cogwheel solution). Great! Bricklink Part 3743 SOMETIME () maybe all three solutions will find a place in my layout. Hanging from the roller coaster rails. Riding on the old monorail tracks (outrageously expensive) and riding on the roller coaster tracks like in the City of Lanterns set. And then through the whole panorama. I guess in a mix of cyberpunk influences (as well as the speeder or hover bikes), the Apocalypseburg set would also fit well into this world.
  7. Have the same feeling. Since the Ninjago City, these are the most beautiful sets for me. Both as they are suitable for playing, as well as a display. Thought so, after the docks, it's over. Two days ago I was able to buy a copy of the "making of" book. Condition is acceptable. In it I found your red tower with the roller coaster tracks. In the Monkie Kid thread you mentioned the Megapolis, which certainly fits quite well into the series after a modification. Like City of lanterns. Especially the stickers (yes, unfortunately stickers) are always fabulous at Monkie Kid. The Lanterns also had one of the old monorails.
  8. I think it looks great. When you see the whole series, I always imagine it from the perspective of the minifigures or at the level of how children experience it. When you go from house to house with astonished eyes and don't even know where to look first. The houses individually, although they have many parts, naturally lose some of their impact as everything looks strung together. I like it when a continuous path can be followed. The fact that almost every house has some water on the back is also very good. And with the boat at the markets, I noticed straight away, it looks a bit lost and doesn't really have a "port". The round window (above the white green fascia) on your new modular looks great. Does the figure in the balloon have an original Lego cape? And the red lenses are from Wildstyle? :-) You can definitely do something cool with the tower. The roller coaster rails in red are still the best.
  9. Sounds good with the hoverboards. I'm looking forward to the WIP of your AirDocks. Regarding the markets: I'm looking forward to pictures here as well, I find the size of the set (two baseplates) exciting, how it fits into the cityscape or how it looks rather abstract. In fact, in all the sets I've ever bought, I've only had one missing piece and that was at Ninjago Gardens. It's pretty annoying with the sticker sheet, you can often replace missing parts from your own fund if you don't want to wait so long to continue building. But with stickers... I have to wait another two months for my markets. I'm still sorting stones and building/buying tables. :-) Such small market stalls (as in the Chinese New Year sets) will certainly fit well in the large free space on the bridge and below. Similar to the Ninjago Making of book.
  10. A great squadron of flying boarders, will certainly "copy" one or two. I looked at it for 5 seconds and immediately thought, I like the blue one with the rings best. To your spoiler: I'm curious what the "break up" looks like in your city. Ps: Can the boards be rented in your city? Do they have to be "loaded" and is there a station for this? Or do they float...infinitely long and "magically"? I like a certain logic in such a colorful and playful Lego world.
  11. A great scene. Also strongly reminiscent of Indiana Jones. I like the mysterious tribe and the water around the crocodile. The whole area looks pretty dangerous, you don't want to get lost here as a holidaymaker.
  12. Pretty cool design of Ryu exclusive print, generally the baby dragon is one of the best lego animals.
  13. I can also understand the cohesive flow, both have their charms. With the MILS system, I mean the level below the usual baseplate, on the one hand, to be able to use the modular design better and to "hide" cables for lighting if necessary. Or also for different soil structures. Many with a city layout switched to this when Lego's new streets came along. Here's how works: MILS BrickDaimyo has used the 16x16 plates from the WorldMap (among others) on his channel, looks very good too. The hoverboards are a great idea. Do you also have pictures of the vehicles in your album? How do you actually feel about the "street level" in Ninjago. Would the road (for wheeled vehicles) be at level 0 (i.e. Old District) or more likely level 1? Do you make sure that all paths are really within reach of a minifigure and also logically connected? For example, a monorail could also serve as the only connecting route from two points on the path on level 1, or the ride/flight with a hoverbike. Stairs and ladders would also be bad for wheelchairs... You probably also know the two AirCity buildings (1 and 2) by Rebrickable? I want to try to place them in the water between the main buildings. And thank you for the insights into your build process from the album on Flickr :-)
  14. Thanks for the detailed answer, that sounds very interesting. The links mentioned are fantastic, with so much inspiration one can get jealous. Many mocs look at least as good as the official sets, often a lot better. (HAFL from Reddit is...wicked good). Unfortunately, I clearly lack the stones to even come close to building something like this. For a long time I felt that the city of WhiskeyShred was the Magnus Opum when it came to a NinjagoDistrict of its own. At the moment I'm leaning towards the layout of BrickDaimyo (nice to see in the community tab on youtube), individual "islands" of the buildings or just two together and lots of water in between. So you get the feeling of narrow little streets in between. I also thought about buying a set twice, but also more as a parts donor, because the variety is the great thing and not having the same corner building on the left and on the right again. (although your mirrored and extended gardens fit in very well ) Will you build your own lanterns/lamps if you don't like the LEGO design? And will your elevator be similar to the one from Ninjago City or integrated into the building with doors? How do you feel about the MILS technique? Remember to make it easier to show any height differences? Maybe to be able to put the Bounty a little lower on a pier. I also had the book you mentioned in my hand when the film was running, there are small beautiful additional structures in there like stands, small vehicles and so on. Maybe I'll find that needed again. CJTonic's MOCs are also very suitable for a layout, but you probably know them too.
  15. Hey very nice to see pictures of your Ninjago city. So you rebricked the Original City? Looks very consistent. I really like the porthole window. In the small food shop to the left of the glass facade next to the gardens, I really like the logo (fish + knife) and especially the part below the counter (in white). Any container parts also go very well with Ninjago (such as in the MonkieKid HQ) and the garage doors in transblue. Very nice, too. Gladly more detailed shots if you have and can. Most of the buildings form a row, do you do that for reasons of space? Or are you planning to connect extensions in a U or L shape? I am currently redesigning a future Lego room so that I can also set up the Ninjago world together (currently everyone is standing individually). Every layout is a nice inspiration. Maybe I'll try my hand at a modular for the city. What you are describing, with the thin line between overloaded and just crazy and colorful enough, is already difficult to imagine.... Do you always plan with Stud.io beforehand or do you just start building? I can imagine that it is difficult to implement ideas, especially when you only own a few parts. What I noticed is that there are no lights on the railings (neither trans orange nor blue like the Gardens. Didn't like them?)
  16. @aguyfromsomewhere: I like your "slim" moc, especially the chinese food box and the blue big gear on the side. Right now the HiddenSide character is standing next to me. I think it also fits very well into the Ninjago world. Do you have pictures of your setup with your mocs lined up (or how you lined them up). I've seen the mirrored gardens, that's where you're planning to integrate them, aren't you? @lemerbrix: are there any pictures of your setup? Now that I've had all the modulars individually for years, I'm planning to build mine in a row or in a U-shape, with more water and small docks. The markets will probably be added next month, so it's always nice to see how others have put their city together.
  17. This brave fellow has already become mad. Next to the hat I find a tattoo, the three-day beard an important characteristic for a "real" pirate. I also really like the characters with a rope for a belt, so it's like..."I'll take what I can get".
  18. Oh yes, how I love this character. Very expensive today. I like the many colorful ones and the mosaics on the edge. The fact that it is built on clouds is also great.
  19. Thank you MoribundStraggler, the options to customize look great. Switching is always fun. A few thoughts on the Markets and the City Sets: I think every expansion suffers from being measured against the first set in the series... and can only (almost) lose. When Ninjago City came out, it felt like it set a lot of milestones. I don't think it's absolutely necessary to achieve this again, but much more to give us more variations, more possibilities and simply more "from the core topic in general". I am very happy about the cable car and the many bright colors, I am always happy about the water in these sets and the many details. It's also nice that it didn't become a corner building. And as for the WOW factor: As a child of the 80's, my childhood theme is "pirates". I have a lot of old sets (the Islanders in particular are fantastic), this series will always have a special favorite spot. Also out of pure nostalgia. Besides that I have some landmarks, fairground, MOC of ships...this and that. But when visitors come to the Lego room, especially with kids, it's ALWAYS the Ninjago complex. City, Docks and Gardens with the Bounty from the Ninjago Movie are THE heart of the whole room. I think these 16,000+ parts are simply unbeatable in terms of colour, playfulness, complexity, joy of building, selection of minifigures and this gigantic "everything from one piece" look. You can stand there for hours. And if it ever came to that and you could only afford one set a year, it would be the Ninjago City Modulars.
  20. Definitely the adventurers series. it is simply timeless and has an enormously high recognition value, no matter what age group. by today's standards, the sets seem a bit "empty" but soooooo old school that it's just a joy. However... Ninjago must be in second place, the enormous period of time in which this topic has established itself and alone the soon to be four modulars. Incredibly great. Monkie kid is great too.
  21. Speechless. It feels so lively. Great work. Looking forward to the next step.
  22. I like the new font, no problems, neither on laptop nor smartphone
  23. It turned out wonderful again. So many details, you can still find new things hours later. It also goes really well with Redbeard's House. Top!
  24. a few more words? Stunning (as usual ?! ) Simply magical, so many small details. As with Redbeard's House. Especially those little gems like the greenery that flows down the side of the house (+nest) and also the walkway made of tree grates. The red stone on the ground floor and above dark tan with gray is also a very good combination I hope, after successful construction, we can await the instructions here as well? BRAVO!
