  1. After hearing everybody talk about this "Mortis" arc like it was the worst thing since the black plague, I decided to find the episodes online and see whether they were as bad as they are made up to be. My distinct impressions in order: Yowza, that story was... crazy. I'm going to pretend that never happened.
  2. Ouch. In my mind, the "re-imagining" of Mandalore is the gravest sin of this series.
  3. Ah, so that's how it was done. 24 pieces is quite a bit for a single wing, but its worth it for that curvy look. Its always interesting to see how people find uses for those collectible minifig plates!
  4. I must say I'm no fan of Fabuland or by association this set, but your review is awesome! Its very in-depth, and interesting to read regardless of how you stand on the theme. You also raised an interesting point I had never noticed about differences between the eyes of first and second generation Fabuf... Fab... Dang, I can't bring myself to say it, I'll just call them "Fabuland figures." The alternative builds are erm... creative, especially that crazy house-car whatsit! Anyway, this is a good look into the cutesy world of Fabuland. Great work Pandora!
  5. No, that looks like a new hairpiece to me. Its the same one that Robin has in the batcave I believe.
  6. Okay, I guess that makes sense. This one reason why I like that the creators of the show added Pong Krell, a character who actually views the clones as disposable grunts. Sure that makes him kind of a jerk, but it adds a bit of realism. Not all Jedi were necessarily nice people.
  7. Well, I'm no pilot. In fact the only time I've been off of the ground was in a hot-air balloon. However I do like planes, and one of my favorite models is the Cessna Corvalis TT. Are you familiar with it?
  8. This is the first time I've given my opinion on The Clone wars and I must say the latest episode Darkness on Umbara impressed me. It was far better than that lame Mon Calamari arc, but it also showed one of my biggest problems with the whole series: Everyone stands up in formation and shoots like it was the battle of Waterloo. When the squad is ambushed on the road they stay stock still and discuss their plans when they should be diving for cover! Maybe I just don't have an adequate knowledge of modern warfare, perhaps a member with more experience could enlighten me. This episode also showcased how stupid (IMO) the AT-RT is. There is no protection whatsoever for the driver, he just sits high and exposed in the worst possible way. The republic must have had heavy walker losses before the advent of the AT-ST...
  9. Nifty. The body/engine area is great looking, but I really love the way you built those wings.
  10. Oh I don't know about that, I think the horse still meshes well with the new fancy animals. If anything the old bears looked out of place, being only two studs wide, with minimal detail and no printing whatsoever.
  11. That list looks great, we truly need a fig with the wreath be he emperor or senator. The standard-bearer would be a crazy awesome fig with that lion-head hat. The list of roman figs is nearly complete, with your additions AFOLs could start making their own roman theme without having to wait for TLC! Let me clarify exactly what the roman signifier should be like: Headgear: Lion skin Accessories: round colored shield, red flag-like standard with eagle. Printing could be similar to the legionnaire.
  12. All true, but that's more the fault of Lucas and The Clone Wars TV show than TLC.
  13. Pterosaurs featured some of the most lightweight construction in the animal kingdom so yes, they were gliders not flappers for the most part.It would have been nice to have movable legs, but if you look at a reconstruction of any resting pterosaur you can see that it would be impossible to recreate such posture accurately in a Lego figure without multiple piece wings. Woot, someone else knows about fuzzy pteranodons!
  14. Can't wait to see that! But I like all the variety of these dinosaurs, it could represent different populations of animals or different genders depending on your imagination.
  15. Hmm. I had intended to skip on that helicopter set, but that red T.rex looks so awesome. In fact everything looks awesome, and that's a serious problem for a budget buyer such as myself! In my mind this is definitely the best dinosaur theme TLG has ever made. The vehicles of Dino Attack may have been a tad better than those seen here, but this theme delivers as far as the dinosaurs themselves go and that's one area where prior themes failed miserably. Kudos to the modelers.
  16. A great review of an often overlooked set. The bike itself is er, interesting but what turned me away from this set as a young lad was that they used the execrable 2001 dino system for Boga. Those alternate models are pretty hilarious though!
  17. Indeed, I believe Lego has finally found a dinosaur "template" that can be used for multiple themes.
  18. For some reason that celeophysis looks so much better now, I want a whole pack of them! Actually, there is no evidence hinting that any tyrannosaurid had feathers, much less the tyrant king himself. Fossilized skin imprints show pebbled scales, not feathers. You're probably right regarding the raptor, although I'm personally glad they left that detail out. I have always thought feathered dinosaurs looked pretty silly!
  19. Wow Lightningtiger, you have quite a talent for making realistic modern town structures. With the exception of their names any one of those buildings would look right at home in an American town. This is also an excellent example for those looking to build a city of their own. Good job!
  20. Looking at those jars of green fluid, I can't help but wonder if these dinosaurs are artificial, ala Jurassic Park. Perhaps the buildings in the background are part of an top-secret research facility, or maybe time travel is involved. I gotta agree with you about those textured bricks, they just don't look like Lego to me.
  21. I'm not sure the two would go well together, 10223 might make the King's castle with its stickers and prefab walls look a little lame in comparison.
  22. Better pictures! The base looks good so far, the brown raptor is just amazing. There's also a small dino, which is ironically just about the right size of an actual velociraptor. Lego's velociraptors in this theme are actually closer in size to utahraptors. I guess the average buyer wouldn't care though... The Celeophysis is in the base? I thought that was some other species.
  23. Wow. That's professional grade stuff. I love the doors especially, and the turret is also well done. It would look sweet with a minigun.
  24. Neat. Its very reminiscent of the roundup sequence from The Lost World, I always loved that part. However, it does seem odd that both the Gallimimus and the hunters are headed off the cliff... What's going on underground? Some sort of construction or an Ingen lab perhaps?
  25. Well, its tough but: Oky: 1 point Macoco: 1 point Khorne: 1 point
