  1. I love this topic, because as I go over the original building, I am finding it more like scale modelling than Technic, with too many fake parts just for the estethics.
  2. Completely agree with you.
  3. I had 8865 and got a new one recently. My brain is still "studded" and have difficulties to imagine things in actual system.
  4. Just building this set now. I hate the "wheelie stand" so I will not mount it. Wheelies in muscle cars are made just from raw power, in fact, some drag modifications put some kind of structure behind the rear bumper to limit the wheelie. The rear suspension is not working properly, springs bend more than work as springs (was my fault, solved). I am already thinking on a way to fit leaf springs as in the real thing.
  5. 6363, and most of the pieces are still there...
  6. I just got the model. The square forms are perfect for LEGO. I think the actual kit is already quite similar to the Pikes Peak one,
  7. As an old can I understand you. Waiting for the next chapter
  8. I know, but wanted to reply to this topic, this was the most recent post about the item. Sorry.
  9. TENTE where quite different, the studs had a hole in them and te lower part of the pieces had little cilinders that could be put between the studs or IN them, so there were more possibilities, getting a 2x3 over a 42x2, for example. Also had a lot of special pieces such as windows, antennae, and specially ships front and row ends. We area talking about the 70s, when Lego was still quite basic. They also had military themed colors (Navy Grey and olive drab) and pieces, such as missiles, machine gunsand naval gun turrets, when Lego had forbidden any military application of their kits. TENTE fit:
  10. I had it as teenager, and after recovering my Lego piees from my parents home I started all over again. A lot of pieces where missing, so I bought another set in the Bay, cheap and incomplete, but between borth I think I will beable to make it. I am rediscovering Lego Technic all over again, and purchased some recent fits, but my head is still in the "old language" of the classic sets with struts.
  11. What about longitudinal front engine, differential in front and torsion bar suspension? Renault 4
  12. Impressive!!! I love the torsion bar suspension and the rear leaf springs. All the complainers can check Haynes manual or call Mopar to complain.
  13. Y dont see it unfinished, I love inline four naked bikes. From all models in constest this is probably the most close to an street bike I have seen!!!
  14. I learned Technic when I was 12 and sets where more abstract and functional, like 8865. I recently made the Ducati Panicle as an adult that can repair a real Ducati, and I was not sure of what I was mounting in a lot of gearbox steps. In 8865 each steps means a lot of pieces and "find the 8differences", now there are steps with 2 or 3 pieces.
  15. I agree, in vintage sets instructions get a lot of pieces by step, and you must carefully lot at the draw to find the differences. I found the modern instructions "too easy" after that.
  16. Now that my kid is old enough to play with "normal" legos I recovered all my old boxes at my parents' home. That includes some vintage Technic sets such as 8842 GoKart, 8865 Test Car or 8838 Cross Bike. Lots of pieces lost, so I will get a new 8865, and the 8842 is complete but... yellow I am rediscovering this world and eager to learn the modern sets. I just got a modern bike and the new Panigale (also a ducatista) Some of my models:
