I never said anything about making a bow or stern part, but it is possible. The 2 mid-hull parts i made fit on the orriginal pre-fab parts that are used on pretty much every ship. My parts can be concidered replacements for the official ones. How ever, I will try to make a bow and a stern to complete it. Could take some time tho.

I made some pretty realistic trains, I did not keep to the regular lengths and there for it looks better and more realistic. Also I did not try to keep it to orriginal colors and tried to use the propper colors for each train. My Website Intercity class mBK 381 (Dutch Train) NS Cargo class 2200/2300 (Dutch) SBB-Ellok Be 6/8 III "Krokodil" (Swiss) Stadler GWT 2/6 - 2/8 (Dutch) Im planning on updating some models and new things will be added pretty soon, tell me what you think of these!

there are more ways to make hull parts yeah, but 100% plate based ones won't look pretty bot the official hull parts. Thats why i thought about my solution.

that new Pirate series is totally terrible, I rather have teh 1995 sets that were the last of the orriginal series and probably the worst of them
-
don't talk about realism as in what was used in that time. Because if you talk about color that aint good, you automaticly go to realism in total model. Then you will end up with small, agile and fast ships which were used in those times. Those didn't even had cannons most of the time aswell. So I wonder why you complain about it...

I finished the ones I used to make, changed it slightly now so it looks better and added the orriginal mid-hull plates aswell (grey parts on pictures). Brickshelf takes forever like usually but ill release a single picture and for the rest you got to wait (including instructions for both small mid hull and wide mid hull!) Mid Hull folder (Ones Released) Comparisons EDIT: Brickshelf folder has been released!

PICTORIAL REVIEW: 6285 Black Seas Barracuda
Voodoo Hand replied to Capn Frank's topic in LEGO Pirates
I don't have the orriginal version from 1989 unfortunatly but i do have the special edition that was released some time ago. Wish I boughed atleast 3 more! It's a wonderfull ship and it is a great addition to all pirate collection! (ow yeah, might have another forum user soon. Family of me ;-) ) -
good job! love the addition of teh medieval styled toilet! Nice cannon bays and tower work! I don't understand the drawbridge part tho, why dont you try to make something like the French fort Boyard styled drawbridge? Link 2

i'm lazy, add a link please ;-)

Yeah I builded some when I had the first Pirate ship (nr. 6268) with own made mid-hull sections. Mostly tried to make "klippers" and something that looked much like a "man-o-war". I will start on new ships soon tho, maybe Dutch vessels. But I have to move to a new house first ;-) Yeah they are pretty cool, even back then the strongest navy there was. Even if there were not that many ships as France and England had. Dutch ships were usually an example to most earopean countries like Spain, France , England and Germany. This is not a known fact since The Netherlands was not really a country back then, it were just some provinces that went under the same flag and fought together as 1. (see my flag picture, it's called the "Prinsen flag" or "Prince flag" roughly translated. Also have a link to wiki of the Dutch land in that time. Spain and Holland/Belgium were actually allies in that time which caused bad times for England and France! :-D :-P ) Yeah, East india Company (in Dutch VOC "Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie") is kinda cool. Merchants that know how to beat up military ships bad time! :-P Everyone in that time was affraid of the Dutch ships and usually attacked with atleast half as much ships which can be translated in "Attacking Dutch ships are bad for your health!" Also there is a bad side to the Dutch history, there was another group called WIC ("West India Company") which was busy with slaves (sorry for all the victims, can't change history unfortunatly). They used to capture people from countries like Africa and transport them to the "new world" (which became the US later). All slaves were chained under decks and hardly fed which coused a lot of deaths. All dead slaves were trown over board and the survivors were sold (well, that part you all probably know by now). Here some links that might be usefull: Official VOC knowlage center (in Dutch) Wikipedia link (VOC) Wikipedia (WIC) IF you guys need any more info, I might be able to get it since i'm Dutch ;-)

I don't mind good copied legos, but only if it really is great looking and not cheap rip-offs. any good addition is welcomed in my collection, but only if it really adds something to the hobby.

why don't you try a Dutch vessel? I mean a VOC ship or Dutch Marine Battle ship? Like HMS Batavia or HMS De Zeven Provinci

none of the options are really pirate themed, but ow well... 100% 6057 Sea Serpent

ill make a mid-hull section in MLCAD soon and upload this to my brickshelf account. Make it both for small hull and wide hull, I know already how to since I did so since the ships first came out :p
-
Looks good so far :-) Hope you don't rush the project, best to take your time and finish it propperly
-
I used to make a lot of ships for this theme, started not long ago on a new one. Unfortunatly i don't have all ships yet, but I use the hull of the newer Vikings theme ship aswell. Same hull as the big pirate ship hulls, but in a slightly different color. But yeah, try to get as many ships as you can, you can add other sets to finish your ship perfectly. Making sails can help out aswell (try cloth of a white t-shirt and soak it in coffee and let that dry, that makes your sails a little more stiff and looks used!). Normally I use not more then 4 mid-hull sections for my ships, this allows you to have upto 4 masts and more cannons. Might wanna try out to use small parts of official and fan made ships for your ship in the start.

Heya, first im new to these forums, HIYA! Okay, now is that finished back to topic :-P I'm usually busy lately with Classic Castle since there was no real Classic Pirate community, so far I made a lot of pirate stuff in legos, unfortunatly no pictures of most. But I made these in MLCAD and are on Brickshelf, so feel free to judge teh very first things i made in MLCAD. Brickshelf - Pirate folder I'm working still on my huge castle project... yes i mean huge... or rather mega, working on it for a year now and its long from finished. some things are on brickshelf already.
