LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I'm not too upset about Yularen not having arm printing (yes he has those black bands but they aren't too noticeable- I was more upset when the Bespin Guard in 75060 didn't have his red cuffs) but yeah his torso is pretty bad. The top left part of his outfit is a big pad that stretches across most of his chest and over onto his left shoulder but on the minifigure it's only represented as a vaguely-curved horizontal line between the two vertical lines which I guess they just copied over from the Imperial Officer design. This causes the distinctive S-shape of his uniform to not be very well-defined. Those vertical lines shouldn't really be there. He doesn't have one at all on his left side and the one of the right should be a lot fainter and closer to the edge. Having it overlapping with part of the S-shape makes his whole torso feel a bit squished. The shaping of the design around his neck is wrong too. Imperial Officers do have a semi-circular dip in the chest padding around their collar but Republic Officers like Yularen do not. Overall they really should've had another go at his torso from scratch. -

Video on the LEGO site showing part of the building process pretty much confirms no opening hangar doors. Not exactly a surprise since it didn't look like it would be able to from the pictures we already had but I think that combined with it being based on TCW rather than RotS it's enough to move it from a "maybe" to a "nah" for me. Might still see if I can grab a few Yularens (or at least the torso) as I've been after Republic Officers for years, though that'll probably be pretty expensive and I'm not a massive fan of how they executed him anyway (a couple of the lines on the torso should've been lighter to give a more distinctive S-shape). -

I'd definitely rather lose arm printing and keep the pauldron. (Keeping both is best but he doesn't necessarily NEED arm printing. The pauldron is pretty important.) -

I also had a magnaguard's legs break (that one hurt) so I don't think it's to do with the colour but the mould itself. The clip is very thick which makes it less flexible and more prone to cracking. LEGO's old philosophy seems to have been thicker equals stronger which evidently didn't work out. They had the same issue with the old 1x1 tile clip piece (part 2555) which also had a very thick clip. I had loads of those break but then they made a new design with a thinner and more flexible clip in the early 2010s and I've never had one of those break. -

The gunship is exclusive to Smyths toys in the UK so there might be something similar for Sweden. -

Not sure there is any solution to out-of-print stickers other than buying the parts or a new sheet on Bricklink (other than finding a custom reproduction) but for normal parts you can ask for them through LEGO's replacement part service. -

I've been tempted to get the Rebels Vader over the last few months but holding off until this set is revealed. I agree that Antilles would be great too. Wasn't there also a midi-scale Tantive rumoured? I know the midi-scale Executor didn't get a figure but maybe they could start including them with Antilles in that set. I have a few dozen of the old Rebel Fleet Troopers already so no desire to army build them which might be what drives some newer fans to buy the set. Still, the build might be interesting enough as I do like ship interiors- might see if I can get it cheap without figures (assuming we don't get ANH Vader and Antilles). -

My thoughts exactly. Barriss and Ki-Adi Mundi are literally among the worst-possible choices for figures to have multiples of. Even AotC Anakin and Obi-Wan could be made into generic Jedi by swapping their heads but Ki-Adi and Barriss have two of the most distinct robe designs. That is one thing I'm using to cope with how bad the Vaughn figure is: at least we can just say he's a generic 332nd officer or something rather than an inaccurate figure of a named character. -

Could it be a typo? 8 instead of 18? Tbh I hope it isn't a diorama with how overpriced they always feel . Getting rid of the black base gives more pieces for the actual build. -

Disagree tbh. I've seen a lot of people saying they want dual-moulding for kamas but I honestly think it'd look awful in practice. It still wouldn't capture the shape of the kama (especially with the holes in the backs of the legs) and they'd need to print white on a black background which rarely looks good and there would always be a gap at the top of the groin area where they can't print on the hip piece. -

7676 had fully closing doors and no bubble turrets. That set was more accurate than this one as the doors split into the two sections like they're supposed to- this new set has the doors as single sections. No changes. He still has inaccurate white patches on his chest and knees (which should be red, not white) as well as the printed kama and the issue that white print on a red background usually ends up looking pink since they cheap out with how much print they apply (some Fox figures have already leaked from the factory, confirming that this is indeed an issue). The white line on the top of his helmet is also too narrow. He would also have greatly benefitted from dual-moulded legs (red on top, white on bottom), as would the Shock troopers (white on top, red on bottom). Usually wouldn't expect this in a Star Wars set but in this case it really would make the figures much more accurate (at least it would if they got the printed details right) and it's not like dual-moulding is a new thing at this point- it's been around for the better part of a decade and they regularly do it for CMFs. -

Yeah I've never been a fan of them doing coloured eyes. Was the same for the original Hera as well as the recent versions of Ahsoka and 2018 Barriss (whose head I swapped for the 2010 version). Almost prefer the old TCW eyes. It's especially weird since they aren't consistent with it, e.g. Aayla from 75182 got normal eyes and looks way better as a result. -

He is not from Episode 6. I would like the set a lot more if it was RotJ Boba. We've actually only ever had one proper RotJ Boba, in the 2017 Skiff, and I was hoping this mech would have a new version of that one, with added arm printing (especially since it's the RotJ anniversary). As it is, this mech is pointless for people who already have the UCS Slave 1 or Betrayal at Cloud City versions of Boba (and he doesn't even have his cape). I know those Boba figures are expensive so it's good for kids and casual collectors to get him but if they'd made the RotJ version it'd still be a great figure for people who just want a detailed Boba while also being good for people who want them to finally release a fully-detailed RotJ version. -

Sorry, that does come across as a bit rude now I'm reading it back. Yeah the cape is definitely the biggest issue since it's an objective error in the set. The RotJ vs ESB thing is more of a personal preference- guess I got my hopes up with the rumours prior to the reveal. -

Is it just the lighting on the pictures or does the Rebel Ground Crew figure have a slightly darker skin tone? Don't think we've had a print with a chinstrap on a head in that colour before; will be useful for making some variety in Rebel Fleet Troopers and AT-ST drivers. -

Speak for yourself. Him being the ESB version we've already had 3 times, rather than a RotJ version which we've never had with arm printing, is definitely a big thing that I'm annoyed about, though the missing cape and the insanely high price certainly don't help. -

It's also the wrong shape. Phase 2 visors are supposed to be much shorter and taper inwards. They really should've made a new mould for the visor which could also have accounted for the issue with the helmet holes. -

So the 332nd speeder seems pretty much the same size as the one we got in 75035 Kashyyyk Troopers. I know inflation is a thing but they're seriously charging nearly double the price? Also I was hoping the 332nd helmet leak we got was just for the standard troopers and we just hadn't seen Vaughn's yet but it seems they are indeed just using the same one on all 4 figures. He's also missing the grey on his torso as was shown in the previous leak. At least we can get some more blue jetpacks I guess. As for the Yavin set, it definitely looks like an upscaled Juniors set to me. At least the minifigures look good but I would've preferred basically any pilot other than Gold Leader since we've had him so many times, ideally it'd be one we haven't got before like Davish Krail. Glad we're finally getting Red Leader, though not sure about the colour they chose for his helmet. Could've gone with a less-bright yellow. -

Yeah it really is so similar to the old one except they somehow managed to make the proportions look worse around the cockpit (seems a bit higher than it should be). Also, R2 sticks out way too much -

Pretty disappointed with these, especially the Boba one but that's mainly because the other 2 are basically what I was expecting. I had higher hopes for the Boba figure. As others have said, it's a real shame that he's yet another ESB version especially considering we're on the RotJ anniversary (also, the mech itself has the RotJ Boba details despite the minifigure being from ESB). I guess it's cool that people can get an arm-printed Boba much cheaper now but I feel like those people would be equally-happy regardless of whether he was from ESB or RotJ. The lack of a pauldron really is unforgivable to me since they've been doing them for Boba for over 10 years now. If Vader can fit in the mech with his cape, so can Boba. Also, what are the chances they're just going to reuse the standard Clone head on him? It wouldn't technically be inaccurate but would feel a bit cheap. -

Looks like it doesn't include the helmet which is a little annoying (and looks like it's been replaced with the old hairpiece rather than the new one) -

Huh, weird that it's different. Here's the list on the UK site: 75331 The Razor Crest™ 75323 The Justifier™ 75325 The Mandalorian’s N-1 Starfighter™ 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi™ vs. Darth Vader™ 75338 Ambush on Ferrix™ Maybe the Razor Crest is selling better in the US than in Europe? (And vice-versa for some of the other sets) -

I posted a few weeks ago about the 501st Jet Trooper having an extra blue line on his helmet between the visor and brim. However, in this image from the Lego Bricks and Pieces inventory the mark is not there. Could it be that the line is simply some sort of production error present only in the first few batches? They're clearly aware that it shouldn't be there whatever the case. -

It's not anywhere in the shop site as far as I know, but the Bespin Duel is now listed on Bricks and Pieces
