    I nod. "Good. Good," I say hesitantly. "I have no idea," I whisper back. "It seems to me that Nerwen knows her better than I, but she does seem a rather strange choice." I turn back to Avery. "Pardon me asking, but you mentioned that you died. How is that you now live as the ashen-faced woman you are. Is it by necromancy?"

    "Everything that comes from God is good. One can use it destructively, but that does not make it bad. Light is good in the way that without it life would cease to exist. If man were to do nothing with it, it would be a benefit to mankind. Man can use it to create other goods or create evil, but it of itself is good and only brings growth. "All gods are servants of the greater God, not all are obedient servants though."

    I sigh. "Light, though distributed by different gods, is greater than those gods. Some would even call the light itself a God in its own right. Though I prefer to see the Lord of lights as the being who controls it and else with it. The light is not evil in any way it is given to us, but is only mean for our good. How we use it does not render it itself good or evil. The fire that is meant to prepare meat can equally be used to burn a house. The light in the sky from which all life is dependent can also be the end of life if the intended balance is not maintained. We can see light as evil if we look at the ways in which it can be used. But what it can be used for is not what it was created for. God, perhaps unfortunately, has given man the choice of whether to use His blessings for good or evil, but there are consequences to every choice, whether 'good' or 'bad.' Those who play with the blessings of God as if they were toys to be used for selfish purposes are bound to meet their end by those same blessings, just as one who plays with fire is bound to burn...ultimately. Still, that does not make the fire itself bad in any way."

    "How do you reason that? Where can light come except, in differing measures, from the gods of light?"

    "An apology for protecting someone! Who was this man?" I gasp.

    "I suppose we'll see about that once and if we get to fighting alongside each other. I know an ex-Blue Assassin who could give a caning to any hero he met and there are very, very few people I can say that about. Heck, I even defeated a blue assassin with relative ease. ...Perhaps they're more of a has-been society."

    I'm really thinking that the heroes from quest 124 may be strong contenders for most unlucky heroes ever.

    "Red Assassin, huh? What's your relationship with the Blue Assassins?"

    "Yeah, yeah, we'll save her. "...The contract doesn't extend to what we do with her after saving her though..."

    And I thought I was behind everyone else in adapting.

    "Is there anything else to be done here?" I hand Kiray my Cloak of Necrotic Shielding before handing Grimwald my Strategist Shako and Ethereal Cloak; I round up by giving Nerwen the Darksteel Armour. I then equip the Armour of the Dark Arts and the Cloak of the Barbaric Runecaster alongside my Heavy Armour and Marauder's Mantle.

    "Well, I'm not trying to change your mind seeing that you've obviously enamored of them."

    It's possible. I thought the Ether Cores were even more, but perhaps I just got them confused. To think that Sorrow was sitting under a fortune...

    "I don't think he understands what you're saying. With these kinds of people you need to speak in short and simple sentences so they can understand, otherwise they fail miserably." "Options, like: do you want to die, or do you want to sell your soul. It's hard to give people options when you don't have anything else but the options to offer. Why do I assume that these 'options' are more forcefully applied than willingly volunteered? Bah! In any case, I don't think I can stand this conversation much longer." I feel like spitting close to the greenskin, but noticing the immaculately polished area, I decide against doing so.

    Considering how coveted health cores are these days (or is that only me?) I, even more than before, think they should do more damage than that. I believe they were sold for more than Phoenix Essences.

    "Well, I suppose the paladins have done their swearing, so we're not left with many options. Who is this 'Baba' anyway? And what do you mean by, 'they feed the world'? I suppose you could say everyone feeds the world something. The question is 'what?'"

    "Not only a greenskin, but a servant of witches!" I grumble inaudibly. And we're rescuing a witch to top it off. "Tell me green...er...Marcellus," I say with forced politeness for the sake of the were-lions, "what is it these witches do that makes them worth saving? Not that it's any of my business, but I would like to know whether they too could run us through as we set upon the place. From my experience with witches, necromancers, and the like, they have little good about them." I proceed to hand my Shadeaux Mace, Heavy Flail, and Undead Gladius to Kiray. "The sword may prove useful if it comes to battle with the undead, but if the Order Imperial are anything like I know them to be, they shun the use of the dead as well."

    Yeah, besides, somebody who did have those ambitions would probably say those same things. They'd need to wait until the time when the could get everyone to bow down and worship them and then...oh wait, we already did that to you.

    I hand a Ruby, Garnet, Emerald, and Aquamarine to Grimwald. "I seem to remember you from somewhere..." I mumble to Grimwald. "Strange it seems recent, but...vague at the same time."

    I wrinkle my nose as the sight of the greenskin. "This is what we have to work with?" I grumble. "I don't think we have to fear his betraying your secrets to the Order Imperial, but to worse enemies... I don't like the looks of him, but if you think he's worth our time then I suppose we haven't a choice but to take him and keep an eye on him at all times. Let's pray there won't be any funny business on this venture." I hand my two shields to Kiray, gently. "You can probably make better use of these on this quest than I can. Take good care of them."

    I raise an eyebrow in Nerwen's direction, but remain silent. What kind of worship is this? I muse. I turn to the were-lions. "I can't speak for the others here, but Lady Nerwen here and I have just come from a mission to the Low Kingdoms where we and a few others dispatched a whole army who were attacking a village. I think at least a few of us have dealt with the Order Imperial before now as well, so the qualifications are here. It will be a pleasure working with you and you can depend on our loyalty...I should think...and our secrecy."

    "Ah, pardon my ignorance. I thought the warrior priests worked alongside the legions of light. So we then are taking care of a matter further out. For some reason I thought the Order Imperial's stronghold was here in Eubric, I guess I was wrong. What are there teachings exactly. I ran into a couple of them who were trying to disrupt one of my former quests. They didn't seem entirely wrong in trying to stop us from laying our hands on the knowledge we were attempting to seize, though in the end if we hadn't, someone less than positive would've, so it did all work together for good, as they say. ...Anyway, what must we be especially wary of from them? They seem to have a respect for the light, unless I've heard wrong."

    "Pretzel, my lady, Monk Pretzel, at your service." I bow deeply. Do you know of the cow-headed general, madame? Is any one of Ennoc's warrior priests? What of the one who goes by the name of 'Fervent.' If so, I can see what you mean by consulting them not being a pleasure...but in any case. Sometimes I fear that Ennoc's warriors rely too much on their tactical ability and not enough on the righteous light, but I suppose you will know more about their present state than I...not meaning any disrespect by the way." I turn to the Minstrel. "I did not know you embraced the ways of God."
