motorized spinning top
lockdownTF replied to lockdownTF's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
thats similar to what I had in mind though I don't have any hailfire droid wheels at my disposable and I was thinking about using an IR reciever assuming the ir could recieve a proper signal while spinning non stop -
I've seen a few videos of people make spinning tops with motorized spinner handles but I want to know if it was at all feasible to build a spinning top with a motor contained inside it so the top could carry on spinning indefinitely. the major drawback is the battery to the motor would need to be inside the top making the hole thing pretty big I was also thinking about adding a an outer ring that could tilt to give it rudamentry control. this probably won't work and is mostly a crazy idea I thought up the other day I was just wondering if anyone if its remotely doeable

need the name of a lego piece in ninjago set
lockdownTF replied to lockdownTF's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
yep thats it is there a name for it? -
looking for a piece in the ninjago monster truck 2506 its part of of the launchable skeleton hand you can fire off of the roof of the truck. its a two stud flat piece with three bars attached that you can clip clawed lego pieces too. anyone know the name of the piece and a good place to get a few of them?

that looks awesome. love the trophy as a pilot lol are those two lightning pieces glued together or something? if not they really sturdy
-
do the tyres still turn like normal wheels or are they fixed in place?
-
umm... it seems more like a small round building than a flying saucer. maybe you could try using more pieces to make it look more steamlined?
-
I was expecting a sentinel set when I saw the first image. also a blackbird set would be nice with cyclops and storm
-
those are cool. then again I'd settle for astromech minifigs with swivel heads so you can turn them without having to detach them first.
-
if I had any skill at repainting or print fig details I might try it but since I dont know how to do that this is the best I can do. like I said I don't wanna ruin my minifigs just for one creation.

incase your not sure who cyborg superman is heres a picture of him: so hes basically a cross between terminator and superman. the story for him is that after supermans death at the hands of doomsday this guy turns up claiming to be superman back from the dead as a cyborg(why exactly they ever thought this guy looked remotely trustworthy is beyond me!) but obviously he turns out to be fake. after taking the robotic arm gun metal peg leg and the head off of the space villian minifig as well as yellow hand just to even out the skin colour I was able to create this: its not a perfect match of course. I couldn't recreate the half machine torso or the three quarters mechanical skull(don't paint my lego pieces cos it'd ruin them) but I still like the end result.

I probably wouldn't be building that many sets. I can only build so much with my own lego compared to some people who buy multiple sets. I've got two main piles a ton of mostly bionicle and technic lego in the attic that I use for making bionicle/hero factory mocs and vehicles I can motorize(most of which tend to not work properly lol) and a small amount of brick lego under my bed in two tubs that I use for my traditional brick on brick building(don't like getting the two piles mixed up cos all my regular would get swallowed up into my big bionicle/technic pile) so my building range is a bit limited right now. I'd love to have all those tubs with the arranged pieces so I can really go mad and not have to worry about whether or not I have enough of the same pieces in the right colour or whether I can even find them and have to sunstitute a different colour or piece.

good god its like a daycare center for giant kids they even have a tube slide!! I'd go mad if I had that much lego at my disposal I'd be building stuff all day!

I like it but the minifigs seem a bit random also not keen on having so many duplicates. obviously doesn't matter with rebel troopers it'd seem a bit weird with lots of chewy's r2's and lukes everywere. I'd go for something like this: republic king: yoda queen: padme bishops: commanders rex and cody knights: anakin and obi wan rooks: R2D2 and C3P0 pawns: clone troopers seperatists: king: count dooku queen: asaij ventress bishops: general grevious and cad bane knights: magna guard rooks: savage oppress and darth maul pawns: droid troopers

are those claws on batmans jetpack off of the new wolverine minifig? also does batman come with a cape or is does he just have the jetpack?
-
why do they never give you a build your own vehicle option? I know the emphasis of the game is supposed to be on that one particular theme and its sets but seriously why not just give us a few vehicle frames and let us build our own versions of the batmobile and x-wing which we can then use in the game stages. the last time I saw this kindof feature was on lego racer for the PSone and I spent ages building custom cars to use in races. in fact I built so many I constantly had to delete older ones to make way for newer ones. this is one of the main things that stops me getting into lego console games and I hope they add soon.

the angle is terrible. also why are sidious and vader grey? could barely make any sense of it other than luke poking out the side of the picture and looking suitably traumatised

REVIEW: 7962 Anakin's & Sebulba's Podracers
lockdownTF replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I've got this set and sebulbas pod is definitely reason to buy it. anakins pod is nice but sebulbas is in a different league way bigger and much more detailed like a space hotrod/muscle car. I'm a bit confused as to why they didn't give you a manual for each pod so that two people can build each pod or so that you just start building your favourite pod straight away without having to search the manual. but not a major problem -
axle resetter piece?
lockdownTF replied to lockdownTF's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I'll find out in a few days if the part does the job or or not I've found the set its in and ordered one off of amazon I've already seen building instructions that suggest use the axle resetter in steering rigs and since its less complicated and more compact than using elastic bands I wanna try it out even if it doesn't work out I've got a coupkle of other ideas in mind for it anyway. in the mean time why not comment comment critique my zamor turret creation (hope this isn't spam). it still needs work and I'd love some pointers. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=59289 -
I'm trying to find a specific part to make building steering rigs easier but I don't know its name or what sets its in. its an orange retangle(I've seen at least one grey) with an axle hole that uses a spring to reset it it to neutral and I think a peg hole on either side of it. I was wondering if someone knows the parts name or what sets its in.

I've been working on this for a while now and finally got a result when I started using my newly arrived XL motors. what I've built is an immobile turret that can rotates at two points and raises too about ninety degrees using a pair of pistons: here are the pictures: and heres a video of it in action (excuse my dodgy aiming) the zamor launcher was quite a pain to motorize after trying and failing multiple times with with medium motors I eventually switched to xl motors when they arrived in the post. after hunting on the web I eventually discovered an idea which used a pair of small shock absorbers in the firing arm. I tried the idea myself but found it didn't work since the shock absorbers simply coudn't push the balls with enough force after having a quick look I decided a six hole technic beam would be the right length and put a pair into the rotating handle launcher I'd made which worked brillantly! a couple of things I discovered though was that the xl motor would only provide enough firing strength if it was either directly linked to the handle bar setup or was geared up from medium to XL gear anything else and it wouldn't work. the rest is mostly for show I need to change a few things actually since it doesn't always work properly like for example when I found the weight of the contraption pushed against the gears running the turntables moving those gears out resulted in the thing occassionally trying to pull itself apart! so still needs work...

ever wondered how V-wing pilots make their astromechs fit on the top?
-
rather than just one character I'd like to see some of the characters done in the old technic figure style. maybe with small vehicles like hover bikes and small walkers scaled up to match them.
