  1. The next modular reveal is scheduled for the "second to last week of December". Edit: I was told the release is still scheduled for Jan 1st.
  2. My understanding is that last years problems were mostly just North America. This was a result of the factory in Mexico being shut down for a while. Europe and Asia didn't have the same issue. This year there seems to be widespread issues. Edit: Last years problem in NA was so bad that Lego shipped sets to the US from oversees. The sets were easy to spot because they all had large stickers on the front containing US regulatory info.
  3. Agreed. Last year Lego tacked the modular reveal onto a hours long promo of other sets they wanted you to purchase. If they don't have any inventory to sell this year it is less likely Lego will have a similar stream. A celebration of 15 years of modulars in December might make the most sense.
  4. We should get a teaser in the next 36 hours if it's happening Friday.
  5. Previous Modular announcement dates: Nov 29, 2020 (Black Friday stream) Dec 6, 2019 (at an Asian toy fair...I think) Dec 3, 2018 Nov 30 2017
  6. Yes. One rumor from last year said Jamie was designing something with an art theme…so maybe that rumor was correct just off by a year.
  7. Yeah, Lego could have leaked it on the employee store. They have had some leaks on the public website this year so clearly they still have issues.
  8. Your friend may be 100% correct. However Lego store employees are not told about future releases. To be clear they do often have a few days advance or in rare cases a few weeks. For example they can see shipping manifestos and some sets arrive to the store a few weeks early such as with some of this years holidays sets. I don't believe Lego has publicly announced this but the Christmas Wreath(40426) is being sold again on October 1st and some lego stores received it weeks ago. But if you go to the online Lego store the set doesn't exist (in the USA anyway).
  9. Thanks for the info. I found this. Mike makes it clear we are never getting "releases". But down the line we may get remakes. Not happening anytime soon though. So no Cafe Corner remake in the near future. https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-responds-retired-modular-buildings/
  10. Anything more you can add? I saw a post on instagram(Sep 2) from Brick Fanatics claiming Mike Psiaki says there's "definitely potential" to bring back retired modulars. I haven't found this interview but I know he did some press recently.
  11. A train station with a hotel+dining would make sense for a 1 1/2 baseplate modular. Denver Union Station is an example of this older style station that would be an architectural fit with the modular line: https://www.denver.org/things-to-do/denver-attractions/union-station/
  12. Am I the only person that thinks it will be a 1 1/2 baseplate modular like the Assembly Square? I assume they have to take advantage of the 15th anniversary and do something that requires more real estate such as a museum, car dealership, library or hospital.
  13. A car dealership makes sense for 2022 if we assume: 1) The problem originally was space (being limited by one baseplate) and they could justify 1 1/2 baseplates for the 15th anniversary set(2022) 2) Lego likes to revisit ideas when they don't originally work 3) Mike seems like the type of person who wouldn't let an idea die* 5) They've had four years to solve the problem *Mike was promoted to Design Master and probably has significant input in what is green-lit
  14. I'm not saying you're wrong, maybe you have some info I'm not aware of...but I haven't heard of development taking anywhere near that long unless its a new line(Mario, Hidden Side, etc) or they have problems with a model(forgetting the UCS Star Wars set that took 18 months). My understanding is they do sometimes "plan" out future sets...for example the color of Market Street was changed from its original red because they wanted to create a red fire station modular in the future(per Jamie). If you look at the output of an expert designer such as Mike Psiaki for example, you can make an educated guess that they probably work on at least 2-3 sets a year(some of which may not come out). As a full time designer it probably makes sense that four months is the actual "development" time for most "expert" sets. Most of the work would be done in the first couple months and then minor tweaking after that which could last a while as colors/molds for the future production year are finalized. Also additional time is almost certainly added if approval is needed by an IP holder(Disney, etc.) If there is more available info I would love to hear it.
  15. I'm resurfacing this rumor from last year. In late 2019 the rumor was we were getting a Police Station but that didn't come until the following year. Given that Lego designs these sets a year or so in advance it's possible a rumor could be correct but off by a year.
  16. Theory: Corner Modular. Police station takes up most the first two floors. Donut shop off to the side on the first floor. Third floor is a newsroom. Newsroom includes radio or TV station. Helipad with radio antenna on the roof. Helicopter is police or news crew.
  17. Chris McVeigh has a significant amount of experience designing arcade machines. If it's not a Police station I would bet on it being an arcade. You can actually download instructions for some of Chris's older arcades and arcades rooms on his website.
  18. 2021 is the 15th anniversary of the lego modular. It wouldn’t be surprising to see another 1 1/2 baseplate or 2 even baseplate wide modular to celebrate this anniversary.
  19. It’s been 10 years since the last one. Ideally you probably want to cycle a set in about every 7 years to catch people who are new to the hobby. Star Wars collectors don’t realize how fortunate they are that sets get reintroduced after a while. You could be a fan of train, monorail, Castle, etc and have to deal exclusively with insane secondary market prices for outdated designs.
  20. Hmmm...we aren’t do for new “City Trains until 2022 (history of city trains: 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018). But the Harry Potter train comment has me thinking...what if the fall Harry Potter D2C set is a an expert Harry Potter train+like diagon alley...similar to last years Disney train+train station... The current DC2 rumor is diagon alley for $399 with a September release.
