LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
FeepoGerbin replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
New year, new thread! Theory time about the Mando set + the trailer that just released... $30 seems right on point for a set of that boat that appears on the harbor planet. Maybe that’s where he meets Ashoka + Sabine, as some think Sabine is the hooded figure in the trailer. Thus, perhaps we get them as figures in the set? -

Gonna throw a completely unrealistic hope/theory into the ring here... Thrawn and Rukh for the TIE? Rukh would have short legs -

When the helmet was shared, the guy who shared it was the one who said it was Bad Batch. Not sure of that person’s credibility, but Landino did share it so I’d hazard a guess to it having at least some. -

Saw a comment on r/legostarwars of someone claiming to be a LEGO employee, saying that generally January waves are intended to be smaller simpler playsets while the bigger, more exciting/interesting sets show up around the holidays. Is this evidentially backed up by previous years’ early waves or is that guy lying? -

Ok, I don’t wanna artificially get anyone’s hopes up, but... Have we considered the Mandalorian hero could be Ashoka? (And Rex maybe, though he’s unconfirmed for the series?) Also, the promobricks article said the TIE would be closer to the Rebels depiction of the vehicle. What if it included Rebels figures? Totally wishful thinking, but 3 figures seems like a little excess for that small of a TIE... -

Blah. Holy underwhelming. Jdubbs described it perfectly. Like, I’m not mad about anything I see here. I’m actually VERY excited about a more affordable Mando set. I’m also very excited to see how they do the TIE and XWing at a more affordable build/scale. I actually said a while back in the thread that I think the single-seat fighters have gotten way too expensive. $40-$50 seems much more reasonable if not perfect. Might get them if they look alright. But not a clone trooper in sight? Right after they were restyled?? Gah :((( I was really hoping to see a Wolfpack, coruscant security, new Obi Wan’s legion (blanking on the number right now sorry)... very disappointed that they didn’t even throw us a bone with a restylized P2 shiny. -

Interesting mention in today’s EW Mandalorian article/interview: Esposito said Gideon will be flying something much bigger. Something tells me that’s why we’re not seeing an Outland TIE. I bet they’ve got something different planned for him -

Interesting, especially that it’s looking to be potentially underwhelming. What’s a past wave you would describe as similarly underwhelming? -

So question for @jdubbs - you've mentioned the info you're seen so far. Is there info going around between leakers of the specific contents of the sets for the next waves (eras, or even vehicles & figures), or just price & part numbers? If that's not something you want to answer all good, I'm just curious -

The Child looks GOOD! Wow! Didn't think they could pull it off after the abomination that was the previous Yoda... well done. It looks especially strong from the above angle, which is fitting. -

I was actually thinking of their Mandalorian appearance when I wrote that comment-- their eyes glow red there. I had totally forgotten about the red circle/their eyes not glowing in TCW. -

I think the B1s are fine as is, honestly. Just reinforce the clips and bend the gun arm a little and it’s perfect. However, the B2s look long outdated IMO. Especially with all that open space on the back. I’d love to see something newly shaped using some red printing for the eyes, or even some dual molding... Maybe there’s a new version on the horizon and that’s why it’s been eons since we’ve gotten any. After all, I’d argue they’re more relevant than B1s due to their inclusion in the Mandalorian. -

So we’ve known for a while know that some people have seen the price listing for the next wave... why have none of them said them/released them yet? Is there a benefit/necessity to waiting? -

I find it so weird that they’re not doing much for Mandalorian... if I remember correctly, The Clone Wars had a HUGE presence in their sets during its run. The Mandalorian, I’d say, has much higher mainstream appeal... so why aren’t they pushing that as hard as they can? I love that show, as many do, and will buy just about any set they put out for it. There’s so many cool options. The Outland TIE, microfighters, the compounds for the Child, Mandalorians (give us an Armorer and the machine gun guy!), the Client (I’d love some of the scrawny/dirty stormtroopers), even Kuill’s home. There’s a lot of neat and memorable options that I think have much more appeal than the Rise Of Skywalker. I have heard very little about anyone who cares about TROS, but a LOT! about Mando, and Clone Wars too. -

Managed to nab two 501st BPs after hunting around local targets. I found myself enjoying this set much more than I have previous battle packs. The play value is there, and the build value feels much more tangible. I had fun building the walker and speeder, and I found myself swooshing them around a bit. If we get higher quality builds in $30 army builders, and less officer figures... I'm all for it, honestly. Then again, I'm not a mega army builder by any means. Just two 501st is good enough for me. Also got the new AAT. Wasn't super thrilled about how they did the Ahsoka figure, but I think it looks pretty great in person. -

August 15th!!! Thanks for the heads up. Found that the best thing to do is to go in or call in the days prior and ask to put one on hold. Got the Mandalorian BP on release date before they were even put on shelves at a nearby Target. -

So when do we think we’ll get early leaked names for the Jan 2021 sets?
