  1. Well, I'm pretty sure there will be a few Griffin castles and a few Kraken castles too in Series 9
  2. @Follows Closely I'm pretty sure it was like that all along At least I didn't change anything it in recent months.
  3. The gun shop is an interesting cover for Sike's main business. Of course it's just a nice detail on top of his choice of location.
  4. Impressive Looks like you need a few Technic axle connectors at this point.
  5. @Follows Closely Not bad! You may lack patience, but you make up for it with perseverance This is the original floor plan (I hope I won't be sued by Bricklink for contract infringement).
  6. @BrickCommander9 Thanks! It's surely a good idea to add a boat and bring some more life to the scene! One day I'll do it ;) Recently I added one more house. The story behind it is that after a long and successful career, Cpt. Redbeard decided to finally settle down. He bought a cozy blue house, right next to the port authority building, where, thanks to the frequent patrols of bluecoat soldiers, he didn't have to worry about the safety of his treasures If you like it, instructions are on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-152596/SleeplessNight/captains-house/
  7. Hi, Everyone! At first I want to apologize, this topic is about my entry in Bricklink Designer Program and I'm pretty sure there is some place dedicated to this stuff but somehow I couldn't find it - so please let me know or just move this post where it belongs Now, to the point. Of course there are far too few Lego castles around, so I decided to build one more: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-1/482/Mountain-Fortress Here are some photos of the actual build, proving it's buildable : And yes, I like Ninjago
  8. Hi, thanks for your interest! All is not lost - I have submitted another project to Bricklink Designer Program, the voting has just begun, so you're very welcome to support it: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-1/482/Mountain-Fortress Something more similar to the original Lord Afol's Castle may follow at a later date.
  9. In the sunlight... (More pics on Flickr)
  10. Some thugs decided to allocate their shady assets in real estate... Of course they built it all without construction permit!
  11. There's no justice in this world... Well, I've just made some! I should take proper pictures of the actual thing. Maybe I can do it this weekend if only someone takes the kids away
  12. It's just made of 1x4 tiles attached to a sigle black 1 x 1 modified brick with studs on sides (so it's fragile but it's in the interior, so it's not a problem); and the gold plate is just attached to a "headlamp" piece. And of course everything sits on a jumper plate. The cabinets are actually more interesting
  13. Well, I interpreted it as an officers' mess and placed something slightly similar on the second floor of my build And yes, 30 years is a lot of time!
  14. Ahoy! Some time ago I thought it would be cool to have a modular pirate-era town. I also wanted to remake one of the all-time best Lego sets, namely Lagoon Lockup. And so this project came to being. I found normal Modulars too large and incompatible with a harbor setting, so I went for a 6x6 module, where each building's width is a multiplication of this module. So there are 12-stud wide and 18-stud wide buildings, with an option for 6-, 24- or 30-stud wide as well. The same building can be placed in a row or on a corner and it still works, because side walls have enough detail. Floors and back walls can be removed for better access. I also invested heavily in tiling, because I heard that studs are outdated Like with my last year's Sabre Island, I put instructions on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-108172/SleeplessNight/lagoon-lockup-revisited I will add real photo as soon as I get it right... if I manage before my kids unleash a proper tornado. Please share your thoughts!
  15. Super cool! I particularly like how it's full of detail and texture, while apparently not using excessively many pieces. Looks very playable too. Great job!
  16. Thanks again You're right about the 2x3 plates. You can generally substitute dark orange for nougat and vice versa, it will work just as well, it's only important that you do actually use both colors, not just one of them. Another particularly rare piece is dark orange 1x4 plate with two studs, I only had 4 of them and used nougat for the other 4 when I was building it and it looked ok. I could use 4 dark orange and 4 nougat in the instructions (but not 8 nougat, as it would look dull), but I assumed as a rule of thumb, that it will be easier to collect 8 items of the rarer color than two different colors. I tried to use as few color variants of each brick as possible without compromising the looks, just to keep the inventory list shorter. Maybe it was the right approach, maybe not...
  17. Dammit! I'm an idiot! I did upload the model, so anyone could see it from different angles, but I definitely didn't want to upload the full instructions to BL Lol! Thanks for making me aware of it!
  18. Thanks for your feedback. I reviewed this part of the instructions and I think it's not too bad. This exact fragment is covered in steps 199 - 202.The whole element is then attached with two additional plates, as shown in step 203 - and this may be a bit unclear, because only the two plates are shown in the part list for this step, and not the whole submodel. I hope this helps! [EDIT] There is something wrong with the tiles on top on your photo - see steps 205 - 207 for the right pattern. In this area it is especially important to exaclty follow the instruction, otherwise you won't be able to attach the slab.
  19. I'm gonna sue them in a Chinese court Well, congrats to anyone who buys it for $169, as you can easily have it in new Lego pieces for that price. It's 1440 pieces, mostly small and commonly available.
  20. Yes, I do, but these plans sometimes collide with those of my wife so we need to be patient
  21. Update: Usually, this small outpost on Sabre Island would not stand a chance against the mighty Barracuda. But, as we know, Redbeard and his drinking buddies forgot to take cannons on board, and so now they have just found themselves in dire straits! This build differs slightly from the design for various reasons, my kids being one of them. Well, ok, I have some... background. Unfortunately I don't have proper photo backdrop, so with the pictures above I had to improvise
  22. Thanks! And sorry for making trouble Very simple - it's a rendering from Bricklink Studio (a.k.a. Stud.io) with transparent background (png), so you can just add your background in any graphic program (Photoshop, Gimp, Corel, ...) - no skills required. This bakground is my photo, which was far bigger that the final image, so I could move it around and place it fittingly and crop everything that didn't exactly match (like the beach that was in the foreground).
  23. Not so easy to take a photo in poor light, from a wobbly boat, with a 18th century equipment That's great! Thank You!
  24. Thanks Everyone for your comments! I'm very happy that You like it! First of all, sorry for posting in the wrong place, I only found out when it was too late! Wow, that would be awesome! This is how it looks inside. It's a WIP image, a few things were changed since then. Anyway, while the sloped walls take some space, I made this space accessible through the arcades. The technique behind it is pretty simple: It holds really well. By adding bricks and plates here and there, you can achieve basically any angle you like. Just remember that the height on both sides must be equal. The whole difficulty is to find the right dimensions to make it fit (almost) seamlessly into the vertical wall above and below. A similar trick was used in a few places in the new Barracuda, notably for the angled ladders on the sides of the hull. I could align it almost perfectly with the dark grey slopes on the corners, but I think it looks more interesting the way it is now. Sorry, it's not the best of ideas, we're keeping there gunpowder, and won't allow in any desperate prisoners. We have enough trouble with drunken guards!
  25. Ahoy! The Barracuda has set sail and Redbeard is threatening the shipping routes once again! So the Bluecoats had to up their game to protect Imperial trade. For the start they have hastily restored the tower on the Sabre Island. What do You think about their effort? I designed this MOC as a tribute to my second Pirates set, that I think I got in 1990 and loved like hell. But I also wanted it to closely match the style of the new Barracuda. I also didn't want to use too many fancy and exotic elemens but efficiently use the stuff that most of us already have in our inventories. It's not too big with 1443 elements (excluding minifigs). The build is rather sturdy (maybe except for the furniture) but it still empoys some techniques and tricks that you might find interesting. I have published the instructions on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-71657/SleeplessNight/sabre-island-anno-domini-2021 There are also a few more pictures on flickr: Stay safe and fair winds!
