Everything @deskp said and the purple was too clownish. If I had to choose between that colour and black, I’d go with black for the waistcoat. 1) Hogsmeade, and 2 & 3) the Polyjuice / Myrtle’s Lav (I really want that Slytherin common room scene with Draco) tied with the advent calendar, which of the two ultimately comes first in my ranking depends on the ACs contents.

lol I get why I didn’t recognise the interview off your descriptions. (I completely agreed with the ladies that Ron & Hermione were toxic long term. Neither valued the other’s strengths, not that I’m altogether sure about Harry either, but that discussion goes too far afield.) Topic! Lego! I’m wondering (if the buildable characters were minifig based and they were to give us enough extras for a Ron mod) how many characters we could make from the set alone. Without much changing, Neville seems a given. Ginny a likely. Hermione’s hair should give us enough pieces to do Seamus. Add in Harry’s hair and between the two it could even give us the parts for Dean Thomas... Or throw in a small handful of blue and we’ve got a Cho with a more appropriate skin tone... A few yellow bricks Justin Finch-Fletchley and Susan Bones. Parvati (skin tone) and Lavender (hair colour) seem like the only likely exceptions from their year in Gryffindor. Or maybe they give us enough pieces to make a put yourself in Hogwarts build... Sort of like an oversized Wedding Bride and Groom (40383 & 40384) or Go Brick Me (41597). That could be kind of cool. (Expensive but cool.)

Cheers! Off to google-fu.

Light grey legs are definitely more movie accurate.

I quite like the sets, but agree, “Moments” sounds like chocolates, Eis-konfekt, something from Hallmark, or an “international coffee flavour” ad.

Would you be so kind as to “Point Me” in the right direction? I seem to have missed or forgotten that particular fiasco. Approximate time it occurred (last summer / a decade ago ) would be sufficient. Cheers. If you don’t mind, what was the misunderstanding of the characters? Other question though, as a purely numbers thing, I’d assume more girls like Hermione than boys, and that she might even outperform Harry as their preferred character (not a given with sidekicks), and that boys given a choice would similarly select one of the male leads, but also tend to prefer Harry to Ron (again lead vs sidekick) if they’ve a favourite character. Isn’t this more a question of selling to your audience than Ron erasure?

I was thinking about the buildable characters (warming slightly to the idea if they were giant figs where you could change the expressions according to whim. hmm...). But the choice is odd given all the effort lego goes to to make sure we’ve the same number of Hermiones as Rons. (Makes the suggestion more probable that there are extra Ron pieces included, which might permit Hermione and Ron or Harry and Ginny versions for respective shippers.) But I was wondering, how many of you bought the HP Brickheadz sets, and if so, did you get the entire trio or pick and choose? For example I bought Harry (and Hedwig) and Hermione. Harry always sat on the shelf, whereas Hermione graced my desk for a while. Ron, on the other hand, was a definite pass for me. (Not a hater, but not a fan either.) So I’d bet there were clear faves. Also, Hermione was always sold out at the stores, whereas Ron / Dumbledore were available. Now maybe they didn’t stock much Hermione in the first place, or perhaps there was more demand.

Actually worse than the buildable broom idea. If they go there, the team has clearly been infiltrated by trolls. Or they’ve gone mad during lockdown. Oh I don’t know, a couple of light bricks in the middle and you’re good. (Bonkers for having purchased it, but good.)

Your list is a thing of beauty , thanks so much for sharing it! There’s no need to go quite so obscure as Doris Crockford, say. There are still plenty of staff, students and Death Eaters left. FWIW, going off the numbers Yope provided, I averaged the rankings of the top 20 characters not released since 2018 by book mentions and screen time. It resulted in a list of 28 characters (eight made one of the respective lists but not the other). The following aren’t in your gallery: #8 Fang, #14 Katie Bell, #16 Ludo Bagman (books only), #17 Peeves (books only), #18 Winky (books only), #19 Angelina Johnson, #20 Marge Dursley, #21 Bogrod, #22 Nigel Wolpert (movies only), #24 Blaise Zabini, #25 Lee Jordan, #26 Charlie Weasley (with the exception of a family photograph, books only), #27 Ernie Macmillan, #28 Helena Ravenclaw I’m not sure how to feel about inclusion of the movies only characters like Nigel (or someone else had mentioned Bem), which is funny as I really feel Peeves’ absence by contrast. For the sake of accuracy, I included them (both) in the ranked list. But they really need to give the Death Eaters some attention, because right now it’s a (metaphorical) cast of thousands against maybe five guys...
-
Wait... wait... Does this mean we’ll get yet another Cho??? (I comfort myself that the fact they included Gabrielle’s bed was the reason for the sleeping face... On the other hand, swimming suit Fleur wouldn’t be all bad. Now I’m torn.) Speaking of, if you guys could have any one new colour, what would you want to see? I’d like a proper deep, deep purple for Snape’s waistcoat and Mafalda Hopkirk’s blazer.

@Kim-Kwang-Seok This. If you compare the 2018 Toy Fair shots that show the prelim for Nearly Headless Nick to the final result, night and day. (Iirc, they used Tina’s CMF torso (complete with necklace and visible flesh tones) and the weeping Angel’s face, and yet the Nick we got is so well done. I think there is much to hope for. Found a link for you, not the best angle, but it gives you an idea. By contrast: the infinitely superior final Nick! From the last series we’re still missing Narcissa and Igor, the PS Troll, GoF Merman, Bogrod / goblin 2, and Peeves outright, and several variations of the minifigs: DH BoH Neville, PoA Wolf Remus, GoF sleeping Hermione and Ron from the second task and swimming suit Harry and Viktor (with shark's head ), and the OotP Death Eater. Off the work @Yope did to list the screen time and book mentions of characters (back in February?) that haven’t been released as minifigs in the 2018+ series, the top five who lego have never rendered as figs by order of actual canonical appearances / mentions / use: Percy Weasley, Barty Crouch Sr., Rita Skeeter, Kreacher, Xenophilius Lovegood and honourable mention goes to Fang. (For some perspective, Igor would have been number five on that list if it were just “not in 2018+“, and Narcissa would have been number seven, but then Percy is a tool and gets no love. (Although that might have something to do with Penelope’s petrification... ) Worth considering, Rita outranks (out-places?) both Narcissa and Igor, and we do have a Daily Prophet this series, plus she’s fabulous(ly evil), so no excuses lego! (Perhaps in a CMF with quick-quotes quill and a bottled beetle? Please and thank you. There’s one from the elves series they could re-use.)) Bill at least makes the top 10, Nurse Pomfrey (one of my personal most wanted) sadly does not. (I may never recover... Tsk.)

Oh, I absolutely say that about things I collect. The old troll flat out looks like playmobil to me (that’s not a good thing, I was firmly in the lego camp even as a child), and anytime they give us too many large panels, same. It’s one of the things I really like about denser builds like 4 Privet Drive, that they don’t resemble PM in the least. Ha! I love brick built Grawp. Didn’t think I would, bought the set mainly for the centaurs, but I think he’s lovely. (Seriously, he’s one of the few things that sit on my desk, along with Snape’s office from the WW set and the Moments books.) IIRC @Micmac did a mod (with toes! ) and orange eyebrows (in light of its genius, I’ll try to disregard the intrinsic gingerism ; or perhaps he’s a merely a homegrown Scots troll... ) for a BoH giant I’ll definitely nick, and someone (I thought it was here) did a similar troll version of the PS lavatory smasher that I quite liked. (The ears were an especially nice touch. Want.) Anyone recognise the description and know who did the troll? I searched but couldn’t find the post. ETA: I think I’ve found the troll on flickr. If that was your Grawp mod, please speak up. Cheers. And there’s a different appropriately long armed version on rebrickable, that amusingly uses the roller skate piece for toes.

You lot are incredibly sharp-eyed. (and apparently clothes-minded ) Thanks for explaining about the torso.
-
Ooo! How about gold capes (with or without stars)? What was the confirmation for the Moment style torso that people saw? The one with the badge. Was there a House badge on the the golden fig in the background?
-
@Guyon2002 already confirmed it won’t be a Moments set. (More’s the pity, but I think I’m very nearly alone on that front... )
-
The fact Hooch also has one side of her face without the goggles means the Flying Lesson is back on the table as an option. Let the speculation resume... (Who else wants a Remembrall?)
-
You know, I sort of miss the deep red lippy , but I also kind of like that we have a very different face. I can use it to create two recognisably distinct minfigs now, which is always welcome, particularly in an underrepresented demographic. (seniors)

1st place - Potions. I don’t think I should like a set for its stickers, but hang it I do. I love that arch, and all the bottles... To me, it’s the set that feels the most like the classroom it depicts. I also like the call back to the old sets with the random hidden Philosopher’s Stone. They used to stash things in the builds and I feel it encouraged creative play. The empty, relatively undefined space on the left half and lacklustre new Snape are minor detractions. 2nd place - Charms, again because of the stickers. I love the way they modified the set to include the names of spells instead of students. Such a clever idea, capturing the atmosphere while honouring the story. 3rd Transfig, 4th Herbology, probably because it feels least like the classroom to me and the lack of Hufflepuff jumper. (‘Puffs never get enough love.) Thanks, @Prometheus87, for taking the time to share your insights to the summer’s anniversary line in such a differentiated fashion. (And to be fair, @MaxHeadroom pretty much encouraged the “essay”. ) @P87 I have to agree with almost everything you wrote. Something about the 2018+ series just clicks. (The joy, she is well and truly sparked.) I live for detail, and it feels like people who actually like the source material had a hand in the sets’ creation (or are just that good at their jobs; both work for me). I’m not as negative about the boxy design of the new sets, however. Builds like that aren’t as pretty from the outside as the 2018 line, but a lot of these sets live for the interiors. It’s a compromise of price / detail / accuracy. (Size of said box will end up being crucial though.) I’m absolutely forgiving lego for only including one toilet, however, and I say that as a person who’s improbably hoping for two lavatory sets before the series ends (I’d also quite like to see the 1st year / troll scene rereleased). Marketing the first. Expanding target audiences? Definitely. One of the things I really like about the series is I feel it makes an effort to also speak to the female half of the population without talking down to us, if that makes sense? (Friends line, *cough cough*. That’s completely subjective, obvs, mileage varies.) The inclusion of a party buffet table fits with the HBP story & movies, has a relatively low piece cost and isn’t excessive “wastage” in the final count if people wish to leave it out. (Although the Yule Ball in the CT may have taken that a step too far , but different strokes...) The series is still “blokey” enough (two Ford Anglias already), yet another train, but the overall ratio has improved (as if the literal seconds of screen time somehow justified the Durmstrang ship... ). Marketing the second... “Attention to detail is lost”... Can we say this of a certainty? (Serious question.) Have we seen the interiors of the CoS etc? (I’m not on IG and sometimes miss things.) Marketing the third... “Here is where Lego is dropping the ball on the marketing of this new design, and begs the question "why?".” To be fair, they really haven’t started the marketing yet. We’re rat bastards who feel the need to look at leaked, still quite raw material. They may yet come up with something brilliant. (fingers crossed) I’m curious to see what tomorrow’s live stream will bring. “if you could design one lego HP set, what would you want to design?” I’m not sure if it counts, but I’d love to take a crack at updating the video game (a small enough footprint to make it playable on the average tablet would be my starting point, 2018 style the very next must). I’m rather fond of the youtube videos they make to accompany the sets. Something more in that visual style would be lovely. If that doesn’t count, then a Moments set. The challenge to find the right balance in desirability of the scene, piece count, visuals (the sticker trade off...), and physical set size / volume (love that artificial boundary) make it especially appealing. Whinging about colour choices notwithstanding, I have a lot of respect for their design team.

The Quirrell face is a downgrade. It isn't even just the retro print from 2001. And I think like the Hooch torso from 2010 better. I'm undecided about her hair and not thrilled about more Quidditch. Oh well. I do like that we're getting the Polyjuice scene and Hogsmeade. That's enough to carry me.

So usefully, the name changes from store to store and language to language (not that there are a lot of words involved), but it's one of the Ameet Lego Harry Potter "books". That's usually enough to find them in a store, but then it tends to be either Harry vs. Draco or Potter contra Malfoy, or something similar. In German it was even less useful, "Rätselbox für Zauberschüler", which is why searching for the Ameet books helps. It includes two minifigs and that absolutely beautiful backdrop that folds back and forth and has these little drop down ledges to put your figs on in medias res (bam! you're with Lockhart in the CoS; hopla! you're arguing with the rival quidditch team; ever the gentleman, you've got the door to the RoHT for Luna...), a nice cardboard box to store it in, plus a little booklet of puzzles that was so beside the point I can't recall the contents. Seriously love the artwork, and agree it really makes me want them to update the video games. (No more Hermione with soccer!mom hair. When she and Molly are sharing, something has gone wrong. (Although the same might be said for Snape, Tonks, Ron and Pettigrew... ))
-
@BrickFunatic I picked that "book" up, too. I absolutely love the artwork. With the exception of the staircases, library, owlery and Room of Hidden Things, it seems like the castle rooms have all been made into sets. Speaking of... I'm still hoping we'll get another set the size of the RoR that portrays the RoHT (perhaps with Fiendfyre) that can be used to compliment / complete the set. @Seaber the caveman hair isn't half bad for dreads, really. (Agreed on the deliberate piece "shaving", though. ) I wonder if it's easier to make a mould if there's a piece that could be "edited"?
-
Well that would certainly fulfil the "disappointment" criterion... If we're going for more diversity in figs, I'd love to see Zabini, Lee, and Angelina, too. (And then to be really diverse perhaps more of the ghosts... ) Do we have a good dreadlock piece for Lee? I used the Programmer's hair from CMF series 19 for my version, but it isn't quite satisfactory.
-
The problem with a Flying Lesson is what do you put in the set? A bunch of minifigures and brooms? It isn't even as appealing as an Accessory Set if it includes Hooch, because what are you going to do with multiples of her?
-
For all my dislike of pink, that outfit screamed "Lockhart" and I coveted it greatly. It was just so well done. (So naturally I had the green one which was all wrong... )
-
Thanks, DS, I'll try to work on my colour biases. (Fwiw, I do feel like I'd be missing out. The interiors were clearly made with much thought and love.) @Brickroll Yikes! That's beyond disturbing. Looks like Bella lost her patience (again) and enucleated him.
