Official Battle Packs are back - sort of
Poco Lypso replied to AmperZand's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Pretty lame imo. Its just easier to find horses and bardings for example. Prices are the same. -
You either like or you dont. its not a good display set imo, compared with the lion knights castle and village square and would look strange alongside imo. 1) or dont buy at all maybe? It depends on your collection if you consider this to be a good parts pack. I don't. 2) the price isnt bad I guess. But pab boxes arent bad either. Or polybags when they are discounted. Last year I managed to buy 33 or so of 30666 at half price. Thats about 2400 parts at about half the price of the castle. Its a bad comparison maybe but in the end its about the value you see in the parts and what you already got in your collection. 3) the figs are nice for sure. But if its just for the figs then it might be better to order a larger quantity online lateron. For me its probably only gonna be the civilian torso, though. The more I think about it the less I am interested in new factions. I would probably want about 100 knights I guess to match my lion/falcon army's, and thats expensive and I dont think I would ever gonna put them to any good use. But I will see about it next year or so...

I don't own the crown knights... Come to think of it, the falcons and the lion knights were the two factions I had when I was a kiddo. I'm not big on nostalgia, but its still nice lego has chosen those two to bring back. The new factions are kinda, well, new, haha. Thinking about buying a few bardings before they disappear, so expensive. The nee factions dont have bardings and I doubt any of them will get any, could be wrong of course. I agree it would have been nice if we had seen more lion knights and falcon variants or a proper falcon castle. Btw are there any rumours about lego releasing a new set in the vein of the lion knights castle/market square?
-
Indeed they are. But its a bit of a financial issue for me atm. In the past we rarely got anything and then it started slowly, first the falcons and then the lion knights. This year we got 4 new factions, lol, thats overkill compared with the slower pace of recent years. Both lion knights and falcons are about 100 strong, with about 50 wolfpacks. Buying a new faction and equipping it can be quite costly and I wonder if I need another army faction, will probably decide once they hit pab online.
-
I especially dislike the horses and the bigger panel pieces. The build itself is pretty unappealing as well, especially if compared with what came before. As for the figs I will definitely go for the civilian torsi once it hits pab online. Not sure yet about the knights. They are great, but I wonder if I really need that many factions. Maybe I should stock up on falcons and lions before they disappear.

I was just talking hypothetical. Should they ever consider such option they would adjust the system accordingly. Yep, you dont need to buy blind these days. That one % was symbolic, I didnt do any real math here. I- 685 replies

Ofc without real data we can just assume. Also lego is a very profiable company alr, they make money anyway. And while ordering cmfs in larger quantities would be great, its also more like wishful thinking, because nobody would order larger quantities for like 99% of CMFs, lol.- 685 replies

Idk if thats a good idea. The whole idea of buying blind is to make customers spend more to get what they desire - MTG cards, gacha games and machines, lootboxes, etc. All this has never affected lego CMFs as u could get whatever u wanted by feeling and now, much easier than ever, by simply scanning. Technically there is no reason to keep doing that blind box thing anymore. The only way to buy CMFs blind is to order directly from Lego or maybe online. The thing wouldnt be a problem if there was a steady supply of new blind boxes for a certain period, but thats not the case. You cant go into a shop that sells CMFs and be certain ur gonna get any paladins atm or even at all. ,Making less desirable figs scarcer than for example the paladin would be most welcome, hehe, but it wouldnt change much. As I said I would have bought 20 or even more paladins if given the chance and I bet the person who bought ALL the paladins before me, would have bought any number. The most reasonable and most profitable way for Lego would be direct orders. Want 100 paladins? not a problem!- 685 replies

By extremely rare I mean: I can't go out and buy them. It prolly depends where u live and how many shops get them. I checked all shops where I live and all figs are available except for the paladin. So much for the tiny amount of work. Lego could let people order the ones they want for as long as the cmfs are officially on shelves and just keep producing the ones needed, the paladin ATM.- 685 replies

think its a mix of FOMO and sculping. I ordered a whole box and that was basically all I wanted from this cmf. Then people started talking about the dragonborn and I had to agree, the fig has potential. When I went out to hunt it down, other hunters had been there before me, I could tell because all other 11 figs were readily available. Yesterday a shop got four new boxes, all dragonborns were alr sorted out.... guess I will have to make do with just the three I own. But ye, I guess its FOMO and maybe also the idea of owning something thats extremely rare (at least in great quantities). Personally, I hate the idea of building armys with CMF material for known reasons. IMO Lego should change the system and let everyone just order the figs they want. I mean I would have probably ordered 20 if not more. Thats 20 more dragonborn sold for Lego.- 685 replies

That's not Lego

So, when I first saw the sets and the prices and the small number of minifigs, it was an instant pass. There is no way I am gonna buy these. Yesterday someone posted on FB the polybags are on sale. Thought why not buy a polybag for cheap, right. Today I ordered all 5 sets at 20% discount. Didn't wanna wait any longer. Lmao! Dang I like those minifigs. Hope this theme will last for many years. It's like fabuland 2.0
