Less weight in the trunk makes him run faster i suppose...
-
I'd advise you to use the red ones and leave the paint. The paint never stays on that good and it will look painted. But it's your hull ey...
-
Very nicely done, the red looks nise as aopposed to the blue and the figurehead and stairs in the back are a nice addition as well. I never did get the window in the stern though, as there isn't really a cabin. Since you made the walls a bit higher, i think it would be possible to make a small cabin, figs may not be able to stand straight in it, but it could look really nice.

Brickbeard's Bounty Vs Red Beard Runner
Captain Green Hair replied to Dreamweb's topic in LEGO Pirates
Brickbeards bounty for me, the redbeard runner never appealed to me. The BB comes with much nicer parts, a complete sail plan, the colorscheme is much nicer and the new figs are just plain awesome. The only advantage the RR has over the BB are the masts, the yards made out of rigid hose on the BB are pretty crappy and don't say straight very well. -
Can't see much good coming from this.
-
I quite like the BB hulls, as they don't have the hole in the bow anymore and it should be easy to make a straight waterline. I haven't tried it's full potential yet, but i am planning on making a ship with it. Wouldn't it be cool if the bowpart came out in black as well, imagine a low straight waterline.. I said red tops for the red hulls buddy.

Hallo allemaal! / Hello to you all!
Captain Green Hair replied to Er!k's topic in Hello! My name is...
Hi Erick and Erick, i'm Rick from the Netherlands, welcome to Eurobricks! My brother donated me all his sets, i guess i'm lucky in that. The online communities boosted the hobby for me as well, before that i build a large model every no and then with all the old bricks. The sets you mentioned are good ones, infact there are too many good sets coming out this year, poor wallet... City and Pirates are on top of my favourite list too. Do you collect sets, or do you have a folder with MOCs somewhere too? I got Lego for my first time again on my 27th birthday last January, and i love it! Enjoy it here Erick! -
Excellent work hinkster, a dong farmer...ROFL. I love all the small details and the small dongs groing on the plants, the integration of the Fabuland roofs is beautifully done as well. The only improvement i can think of is to remove 1 of the round bricks stacks next to the window and replace tem by regular 1x1's to make it look more like a wall. but that's a minor nitpick.

No way, i almost broke my arms on this attempt. Yes mam!
-
That looks awesome, the attention to detail is great! Is it in the same scale as the ICS?
-
Couldn't you choose anonther picture? My head looks fat in this one.

Yeah those are great! I'm not sure how easy tan hands are obtained though. Thanks for sharing.

Review: 6192 Pirate Building Set
Captain Green Hair replied to Skull-Mark_Ladybug's topic in LEGO Pirates
Definitly a nice set. I bought 2, just because i think the torso of the fig is one of the best ever made, only to discover it comes with awesome parts like lime green cheeses as well! Great review too, thanks! -
Me too! Like already said, other factions use archers as well. But, the fact that there are no new dwarves sets made, might also be another hint to possible Elve sets.

Dutch VOC ship the Prins Willim, minifig scale!
Captain Green Hair replied to Captain Green Hair's topic in Pirate MOCs
Progress has been slow, but yes, progress has been made. The delay was mainly caused by the fact that i have finally found plans of the ship, but because of this wonderfull find, i had to adjust a few things... The plans come from a book called ''Prins Willim, een 17e eeuwse oostindië vaarder'' by author Herman Ketting. Here's a shot from the most important pages: First up the whole ship, now nicely tiled: I've started to build up the above water part, this is still a bit preliminary and i'm not yet too happy about it. You can also see the first ''berghout'', the black line. This also shows you how i plan to build upwards again. C&C on this part is very welcome: Here's the rear, with the chaser gunports in, i plan to make the hinges different on the finished version: With the hatch opened: And here you can see Spongebob and Patrick having some fun: The final cannons are currently being engraved with the VOC logo by my good friend Matija, and will look like this: Here you can see the new bow, which has been extended and got a new ''grootspant'', now 99% accurate Again we find our friends running around in the main hold: A cool detail that can be found here is the opened ballast pit, you can also see the ladder coming from the main hatch: On the final version the whole back wall will be reddish brown, the black ''eyes'' are representing the metal hooks to fasten the cargo: The decks are modular build, so i can easily rearrange stuff on them, the interior isn't finished yet. And now for all you negative nancies that worry about if it's strong enough and that i'm not afraid that she'll break up: No i am not. So that's it for now, i hope you like it. C&C are more then welcome! -

The "La Formidable" 24 gun ship opening!
Captain Green Hair replied to Captain Blackmoor's topic in Pirate MOCs
Nice work on the galleries Captain, they look very nice! The anchor beams stick out a bit too much i think, they would look better 1 or 2 studs shorter. I'd also make these entirely black, to make it easyer on the eye. Making the deck tiled is awesome but expensive. If you are planning to play with it, i'd say go for plates as you wouldn't have to pick up all the figs all the time. If you plan to only display, doing both is also possible, make the deck tiled, but put plates under the figs so they stay in place. This is the way i will do it on the Prins Willim. Keep it up matey! -
The bricks look a bit yellowed on top and on the sides....

The "La Formidable" 24 gun ship opening!
Captain Green Hair replied to Captain Blackmoor's topic in Pirate MOCs
That's starting to look like quite a ship Captain! I've never heard of the prisoner release tradition, i like it, so cruel. :pir-skull: Is it a real tradition, or did you make it up? (Would like to read about it, if you have a link?) Now for some feedback: I think the forecastle is a bit high, it could look better if you lowered it about 2 bricks. The colorscheme is a bit busy IMO, it might be better to add some more black, like a black line directly on the hull. It could also be nice to switch the dark grey tops on the hull for red ones, to make the colors more solid. A tutorial on how to do so can be found here. Oh and about the bloody French language....if it sounds cool, it is. Good luck on finishing her! -
Your city keeps getting better and better Simon! I'm glad you kept the Amsterdam buildings, they are the best. I do feel that the building on the left of that block could use an upgrade, as it looks a bit plain next to all the pretty facades on the others. The railwaybridge is awesome, i always loved those in railwaymagazines too! The beach is a nice touch, but i do think the shoreline looks a bit straight, perhaps sticking on some plates to break the straight line looks nice? Some shells and starfish could also add to the beach feel. Too bad about the fence, in all my 113 BL orders i never had one not received either. What did the seller say? The 17th century ship is cool, i like the no entry signs on the rigging, very nifty! I don't think i saw the coaches on the steamtrain yet, they look great as well! Keep it up buddy!
