I couldn't express it better myself. To me it comes off as try-hard and bending the perception of history. Changing the heads is of course no issue to me and many others, but people have the right to criticize that since it's based on a very concrete period of time where, simply, female uniformed soldiers did not exists. People that seek historic accuracy (mind you, not talking about Nobushi or even much debated female Vikings) should not be demonized. On another hand, I actually feel like it's a shame they spend so many pieces on the raised baseplate and I'd prefer just another simple boat instead of the merchant ship.It's a nice callback but i would prefer a bigger fort structure.

In those high res pics a few pages back her belt buckle looks to be more intricate and ornate than the one on Lion Knight's tabard.

Well, it's a great set to be sure BUT the bay is about the only part of the original idea that we get in it. That's not what I voted for and now, one of the best original ideas is gone for good which is unfortunate and not really fair to the creators that got their votes fair and square. I'm obviously happy that we get Lego Pirates set but it's so far removed from the OP that it's not even sailing the same seas.
