  1. Wasn't the old rumored V-19 also supposed to be $50? If true, maybe a new Phase I Cody and finless Pilot?
  2. Back in 2008/09 Hasbro made a V-Wing and included Phase I Odd Ball, so there is precedence, but I doubt it.
  3. Eh, the only actual Clone sets are the ARC-170 and whatever set the mythical Phase I pilot occupies. Oh, and the (new?) commander I guess. I'd argue that Lego hates all of us right now. Except for City, that theme is eating right now. Speed Champions being a close second. Fair enough. Still, somehow a grand seems extra-excessive. Like, $850 feels like it should be the max. What's next? A $1200 model? $1500? $2000? Where does it stop?
  4. Night Trooper Battle Pack The DSII price has to be an error, right? Like, there's no way in hell Lego is actual making a set that costs a whole grand. It'll be massive, probably a pain to build, and God help whoever drops it.
  5. It's such obvious bait. I like the hyper-fantasy aspects of Star Wars, it is a Science Fantasy Epic, after all. The Vong, Krayt, Abeloth, etc. They feel sufficiently larger-than-life, befitting an epic space opera. I do understand the whole "immune to the Force" thing being strange, but eh, they had to do something different I guess. I do like the organic "technology" and anti-tech ideology they had.
  6. Sorry for bumping this thread, but I've been on a Star Trek binge recently, and it reminded me of this thread. I actually think that the original colors could work as they do in Star Trek, but as there are so many colors, more ship functions can be assigned. Yellow - Command. Not necessarily command of the crew, but also command functions, such as piloting and navigation. Blue - Science. Collecting rock samples, radiation readings, etc. Red - Operations. Computer Ops in particular. White - Medical. Black - Tactical. Ship security. Orange - Recon. In charge of initial landings as well as first contact. Green - Engineering. Internal Systems. Grey - Engineering. External Systems. Pink - Home-Economics. This is crew care and maintenance duties. Purple - Communications. Occasionally accompanies Orange in First Contact. Handles both homebound and intraship communiques, as well as translation and xeno-linguistics. Brown - Nursery. For any newborn crewmates, or the occasional alien animal. Some of these are typically reserved for larger vessels/colony ships (like Brown), but I think each of these represent a critical ship function.
  7. Actually based, ngl. I might personally flip Kyle and Jessica, or tie them depending on my mood, but I honestly can't argue with this list. Though, let's be honest...does Alan Scott really count?
  8. @Classic_Spaceman The ARC-170 is the best Republic starfighter because it could do everything. Lucas intended for the ARC-170 to be the Republic's mainline fighter by the time of ROTS, as a precursor to the X-Wing. We cannot debate this. It's in the movie he made. Anything in ROTS superceeds the cartoon canon. The Z-95 was an EU creation that was meant as a "missing link" between said fighters. This is also not debatable. Dave Filoni didn't create the Z-95, he simply included it into TCW. It's addition to the Prequel Era served to circumvent the role intended for the starships of the G-Canon (aka, the movies). George was not as invested in TCW as most believe, and gave a great deal of creative freedom to the showrunners. He didn't even pay close enough attention to realize that Trade Federation ships/generals were constantly depicted in the series until the Umbara Arc (hence why the Supply Ship was created). Regardless of how you think the ship actually is, the story materials depict it as a rather capable and OP starship, with its crew requirement being the only "weakness". You don't have to like it, that's fine, but in-universe, the ARC-170 is the best ship in the GAR's Starfighter Corps. I hate that suddenly the Z-95 is "just so great" because Filoni never used the actual fighters seen in the movies (aside from the Battle of Kamino). If it were used in conjunction with its counterparts, this would be less of an issue. Perhaps the ARC-170 cost more to animate (the S-Foils, Three Pilots, moving tailgun, etc), ditto for the V-Wing (at least for the landing/takeoff sequences), but that ignores why we even started this discussion: the replacement of the V-19. The V-19 was replaced by better starfighters in-universe, aka ships like the ARC-170, the V-Wing, and (as of 2012) the Z-95. This is because nearly all Republic equipment underwent massive changes and the visual identity of the army changed as the war progressed. Out of universe, it was replaced for the same reason, to show the progression of wartime technology, not because it was ugly. The Z-95 was chosen because of the starship lineage (conveniently ignoring that the ARC already did this), and likely the ease of animation, as there's no need to animate an elaborate landing sequence or S-Foil deployment. What sucks about all of these ships (save the V-Wing) is how far apart the main guns are. Though that's just Star Wars at that point. This has been fun, but I'm tapping out on this debate. I wouldn't even be mad at that, tbh. Great way to get a desirable figure at a cheap price, am I right? (No, I haven't forgot about Plo Koon and his glorious Starfighter)
  9. Z-95 doesn't belong in the Clone War era, and it's presence within it is a Dave Filoni retcon. The ARC-170 is a superior fighter because it's a hybrid. The firepower of a Y-Wing, the speed and maneuverability of the V-19, as well as the capacity for long-range operations behind enemy lines (and I believe a hyperdrive, but I could be wrong). Yes, it had three crewmen, but many real world bomber craft employed that and more. Besides, what dogfighting weaknesses it did have were circumvented by another, more nimble vessel, the V-Wing. The Z-95 was (originally) a later vessel which was used by the early Rebellion and was eventually replaced by the X-Wing. Hence why it seems like an upgrade to the ARC-170: it's not supposed to be its contemporary. The Y-Wing sacrificed speed and maneuverability for increased payload, the A-Wing served as a fast and nimble interceptor, and the B-Wing was a hybrid fighter, with improved crew requirements (1). But all that is missing the point: George Lucas intended for the ARC-170 (and the V-Wing by extension) to serve as the mainline vessels of the Republic's Starfighter Corps. The Z-95 is an unnecessary inclusion. I like the ship, but it's presence has usurped other vessels that are meant to be in its place.
  10. That's just like, your opinion man. (So is mine) Ahsoka was trash to me, and Disney!Thrawn feels like a Saturday morning cartoon villain, not a legitimate tactical genius. He has his moments, I'll admit, but he's far from what Timothy Zahn portrayed in his original trilogy. That's all the media discussion from me for now.
  11. Z-95 is a precursor to the X-Wing, yes. But you know what else is a precursor to the X-Wing? The ARC-170. Yes, the V-Wing was a late war development, but, the transition from Phase I-II serves as an obvious indicator of the Republic-Empire transition. After all, the Empire is the Republic, just a far more corrupted version of it. Phase II Helmets, Venators, ETA-2s, V-Wings, they're all to signal the rise of the Empire. The Z-95 was a shoehorn, as like I mentioned before, the V-19 originally was meant to serve the entire war, only replaced about midway by the ARC-170 and complemented by the V-Wing. The V-Wing's role as an interceptor makes it the obvious replacement for the V-19, as the ARC-170 was built more like a bomber (not too dissimilar to the B-Wing).
  12. Funny, I actually agree with her assessment. Case in point: Thrawn... V-19 is superior to the Z-95 and I will fight any who dare say otherwise. Also, they fill two distinct roles: the V-19 is a dogfighter, ARC-170 is a Capital Killer. The reason that the V-19 was replaced in TCW had nothing to do with design (which, in Legends, it served the entire war), but more to do with the visual transition to Phase II (which, the Venator-class should've also been absent until Phase II, but I digress). But, it's true replacement should have been the Nimbus-class, AKA the V-Wing. God only knows why Filoni decided to use the Z-95 as the mainline fighter instead of its pre-existing (and quite capable) counterparts. P.S. Yes I know the Z-95 was a Legends vessel, but more commonly associated with the Rise of Rebellion Era, not the Clone Wars. Going by the movies/CWMMP, the visual path from Phase I-II of the war is as follows: V-19 - ARC-170, Acclamator - Venator, Delta-7 - ETA-2, etc.
  13. Kind of a 2016 Suicide Squad situation.
  14. You misunderstand, aside from maybe Cody or Rex, I don't need to see the face behind the troops, since they'll be keeping their helmets on in my collection. They're grunts, I treat them as such. I do agree that Cody should've had a more neutral expression.
  15. As a 00-casual, I used to think James Bond was beyond Lego's principles, but seeing this just makes me want sets. Imagine getting figures like Goldfinger and Odd Job, the SPECTRE Base from You Only Live Twice (as well as the space capsule), Piz Gloria, the Disco Volante, the list goes on.
  16. @THELEGOBATMAN So, are you planning to make Ms. Meero your new Harley? Darkness Grows as This Theme Dies... Not even Superman could withstand the insanity forever. Please, we all know dinosaurs were created by Michael Crichton to sell toys.
  17. Whichever one means less likely (I don't know gambling)
  18. By Rau, why the despair, comrades? This theme started with a Superman vs Lex mech set, a Batcave, and an Arkham Asylum. I'd say this is a suitable recycling. A Rebirth, if you will.
  19. Solid Bricks Studios' review of the ARC-170 has improved my opinion of the model. The promotional images don't really do the set justice. Seeing that it's not too far off in size from the 2005 model, as well as seeing how flimsy the 2010's wings seem in comparison, I think this set's a pretty good iteration of the craft. I was also already on board with the Acclamator, but seeing that there are no stickers, and the in-hand look at the model is beautiful, I'm really excited for this one.
  20. Special shout out to Denal the GOAT. I wouldn't mind a cheaper AT-AP though.
  21. Also known as "501st Legion Clone Trooper" This is called entitlement. Yes, Lego's inflated prices are a Mini-Figure, but I don't expect anything besides the bare minimum at this point. Besides, an extra facial expression is the least of my worries. How about more figures in general. I don't care about a face I'll likely never use. They're beneath a helmet, my guy. The ARC-170 pilots, whatever, but the rank and file may as well have the old black heads underneath. Some of us remember the old Hasbro days of no heads under the helmets, just a ball joint. Getting to see Jango's mug is another luxury. I'd love more heads in that skin tone, but they don't have to come with clone trooper figures. Again, most of us will never think about what's underneath, it's really not necessary. To be clear, if Lego did provide these things, I'd be happy about it, but let's just try to be realistic here.
  22. The image means nothing. We're not getting Commander Fil from some obscure Season 1 TCW episode. Kit Fisto being one of the Jedi characters rumored is plausible, but that's just due to the character's relative popularity.
  23. The recent heads in the Yavin set (Gold/Red Leader share the same face), it seems to be replacing the 2014 variant(s). Prior to that we had the NR pilot in the Ahsoka set.
