LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
danth replied to Lyichir's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I still maintain the new Blacktron Renegade is not a good set. It doesn't have the visual coolness factor of the original. It could have, and should have. But it's just nowhere near as good as the new Galaxy Explorer. So I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't sell, despite Blacktron being a beloved classic theme. I think even Lego knew it kinda sucked, which is why no pics ever leaked (until like the same day as the official reveal), and...well, they took other actions that were designed to quell criticisms of the set, but I'll get attacked for mentioning them. -
I'm boycotting all Disney products forever now, including SW, Marvel, all of it.

Wow, congrats to @alex_lyman for running away with all the votes! And to everyone who entered and voted, and to @Bob De Quatre for organizing! It was fun to participate and even more fun to see everyone else's contributions!

LEGO Sci-Fi Ongoing - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

It's growing on me. At first I didn't care about it, but I like the printed helmet. What's really cool is you can mix parts with two regular Blacktron figs so that each has a Blacktron symbol somewhere. -

What does "featured" mean when a topic is featured? I have a topic that was just marked as featured, but is there some way to see where/how it's featured?

[WIP][MOC] X-wing, 10226 NASA Lunar Lander alt-build
danth replied to Astatine-209's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I am just in awe right now so can't offer a coherent comment. I did download the instructions just to enjoy the genius of how this was done though. My mind is still reeling. -
Yay! Thank you! Thanks! Yeah, I really like medium azure for space/sci-fi MOCs. It reminds me of Transformers like Blurr who always seemed super futuristic to me. Trans red seemed like an obvious choice to go with it. Thanks! Oh, I really like "Bleyzure"! That just sounds rad. The hinges that connect the body to the "hips" abut the rear transparent panel in spaceship mode so nothing else can occupy that space. Funny that you mention the striped tile because that's what inspired me to do this entire MOC! Although, in my real life version, I moved the stripes to the feet which I kinda like better.

New Christmas sets revealed. https://jaysbrickblog.com/news/lego-41843-family-christmas-tree-and-10361-holiday-express-train-2025-winter-village/ Definitely interesting. The train is cute, but I don't know how I feel about it including a 3D printed part. What's the point of that? The Christmas tree looks smashed on top, which isn't forgivable since it's a $330 set. At least I've never seen a Christmas tree that suddenly goes from a 60 degree and to a 45 degree angle. Also, putting the new bright green space helmet & air tanks in this set is a serious d*ck move unless they also appear in PAB. Also, most of the cool computer readouts are stickers, so I say "meh" to those.

People have spotted the new bright green space helmet and air tank in the $330 UCS Christmas Tree set. 😭😒 If this is just a way of getting those pieces into PAB, then I'm for it. Otherwise, wow. -

My goals for this MOC: Make a transforming spaceship with a trans red windscreen and the medium azure 1x4 tile with danger stripe Make the transformation simple Have the different parts lock into place in spaceship mode using clips Make both modes look cool! I have this built in real bricks too, I just need to take some good pics. The transformation feels good, and the arms/legs click satisfyingly into place. Thanks for looking! EDIT: Real bricks! Video of the transformation if anyone wants to see it:

I know right? I'd even take non-SW sets like this. I think looking at these kinda MOCs helps me. At first they just showed me how much my MOCs suck by comparison. But I have a MOC I need to post soon that is, IMO, not nearly as sucky as usual, perhaps because I subconsciously absorbed design sensibilities of very talented MOCers.

The good news is Lego seems to consistently issue air tanks/helmets to match released torsos, so I have hope they'll keep the sprue parts light bluish gray. -

This hero just got us a Blue spaceman AND gray helmet and airtanks? LEGEND! -
This is wild! 😁 I love that this looks like a "lost" 90's theme that had prototype pics but never got made. The use of trans red along with trans neon green would make it fit in between themes like Unitron and Spyrius, while the green & black give it a distinctive, unique look. And then the pops of coral and turquoise give it just the right amount of "crazy but awesome" color. I really like the Zoid-esque panther mech. I love the "hang glider" orientation of the gorilla mech pilot. And the open base on tall stanchions with the huge single windscreen, that is classic Space goodness. The little utility rover is adorable too. Nice job!

People on reddit are saying a bright green Space minifig is coming next year. -
Very fun! Gray, black, and trans red really look cool together! The wolf's head ship has a very "Zoids" feel to me, which is of course a good thing.

Damn. I definitely see the different reds in your example. I just figured out how to set the white balance on my camera (which is an Android phone camera and might not be that great in the first place). Maybe my next try will be better.
