  1. Childish Landino on Instagram posted something saying that an updated set list has 75291 listed as an unknown exclusive in August with 775 pieces, so it looks like this is an entirely different set. I guess that brings the confirmed total of sets up to 7 (Razor Crest + the previous 6 already revealed), and then assuming 91 is confirmed, would make 8. Looks like the Razor Crest was entirely separate, which is great.
  2. The thing that makes me uneasy about that is that it's the only part. Other than some dust, the rest of the figure and the arms appear completely fine. I would assume sun damage would cause at least some part of the arms to get faded or discolored. It'd be a question for @Safety, but if this has been stored in the box or away from the sun, I think it's safe to say it's a misprint.
  3. Ok so I'm still a bit unclear on what people were saying is cancelled and what isn't. I'm going to ignore April because that seems to be set in stone, 3 large scale sets and the unknown final system scale set. Summer initially was confirmed to be six sets, these have now been more or less revealed to be a BARC that may/may not contain an AT-RT, Anakin's Interceptor, AAT, Night Buzzard, Grievous' ship, and the AT-AT. We also had another two sets show up on an Instagram leak, one of which has been hinted to be the Razor Crest. The other one of these hasn't really been talked about much since the Instagram page leaked the list. deep breath Ok, so I think that's where we're at. So is there those six sets, plus the unknown/possible Razor Crest, and then three cancelled sets that may/may not be cancelled, or were people lumping in the possible Razor Crest as one of the purportedly cancelled sets? Sorry, hard to follow as the info's been dumping all at once. Can't keep track of what's what.
  4. Exactly the point I was trying to make. We're getting fewer sets because most of the existing source material has been made, and the scenes that have not either isn't really feasible (I mean, stuff like Padme meeting with Boss Nass? That has basically no playability potential and I would bet most casual SW fans don't even remember that scene) or were so minor that there's no purpose in making them. There's also stuff like the Droid Control ship, if you wanted an accurate model, that thing is the size of the UCS Death Star, but again, no one is spending $500 on a location that probably had fifteen total minutes of screen time. Stuff like Theed Palace might sell, but again, you can't create a full scale version of it, that'd be way too big and people aren't going to put down $150-200 for it when the other sets at that price point are things like the Falcon or a UCS rebel ship. You have to be realistic about what will sell well. Do I think that stuff like a Republic Gunship or AT-TE deserve to be remade? Heck yeah I do, because they have enough appeal to both casual and hardcore SW fans, or that their appeal is so strong among a lot of hardcore SW fans that it'll sell well regardless. That same sentiment really cannot be applied to a lot of prequel locations or vehicles, though. People who are really into Lego Star Wars will buy anything, they know that, so they need to find ways to make sure that the sets sell well outside of that demographic. That's why we get an X-Wing/Snowspeeder/Millenium Falcon/Slave I every 2-3 years, because those are the sets that a casual collector will buy.
  5. I think there's a third variable at play here though. During the period of lSW from 1999-2005, they had to focus their attention on the prequels, so that essentially 3 of those 6 years were almost entirely focused on TPM/AOTC/ROTS. They did put out a number of the very iconic ships and scenes from the OT, of course, but there was still a ton of unused material. I'd bet that over half of the sets from 2006-2015 were scenes/vehicles that had never been made before or were very clear upgrades on existing sets. We're at the point now where almost all of the iconic vehicles and scenes from the first six films have been made in some way or another in Lego form, or those that haven't are either not possible because of size (Theed Palace, for example), or are way too obscure. Like, take ESB for example. Basically the only thing we're missing from that film is the Nebulon B, which most people would agree is only feasible as a UCS set, but obviously they're not going to make that in the period between 2000-2015, because there's still way too many set candidates that are going to sell better or be more desirable. The only remake we haven't had for a little while is a TIE Bomber, but even that was in the movie for like ten seconds. ANH, same deal, really the only major locations we've never had are the Lars homestead and Yavin IV, ROTJ is pretty much the same, all that we're missing is a more accurate Home One or another Rebel command ship, but that essentially poses the same problem as Nebulon B. Yes, there's still stuff from the prequels that deserves remakes or hasn't been covered, but realistically, it makes sense to me that the waves are smaller. There's simply just not as much source material to go off of that Lego see as a sure fire seller. Mandalorian doesn't count because the wave had likely already been decided prior to them knowing how the show would perform, and they may have pushed another set through just to serve the demand. TCW is popular among hardcore SW fans, but there's no way it's going to reach the same level that The Child or even Mando himself have. Heck, there's still a ton of people who don't know who Ahsoka is, even though she's been a character for 12 years, but I would be willing to bet that a lot of non-SW fans could pick out Mando.
  6. That would actually make a lot of sense if the new set list is real. One of the two previously unknown numbers falls between Grievous' fighter and the AT-AT, which could indicate that the price point will be between those, which is about where I'd expect a Razor Crest to fall. Obviously right now it's all speculation but that would line up with the rumored two additional set information that we just got the other day.
  7. So with this new set list that now has 8 sets listed, are the two unknown sets that were formerly thought to be skipped - do those that have insider info know what these sets are supposed to be, or are those news to you guys as well, if you don't mind me asking? (I'm not asking what they are, just if they're actually known or not at this point in time)
  8. So even though the MBS is apparently no more, here's some ideas for other sets that either could've been put under that moniker, or maybe could still be put out eventually, just as retail exclusives that aren't UCS (so as to not cause another uproar). Battle of Yavin ($299.99) Primarily a large temple build, similar to the sketch model that pretty much everyone's seen. The front side is a very displayable temple exterior, includes the rebel in the lookout post. The interior of the temple would have a large ground floor with midi-scale X-wing and Y-wing fighters and a small ground transport vehicle. The second level would be the battle viewing room with various computers and the main holographic display on the table. The third level would be the briefing room with a screen displaying the Death Star plan readouts. Finally, the top could be the throne room. Minifigures: Luke (Rebel pilot), Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess Leia, General Dodonna, Rebel Trooper 2x, R2-D2, C-3PO, Biggs (Rebel pilot), Jek Porkins (Rebel pilot), Dutch Vander (Rebel Pilot), unspecified other astromech droid, 2x ground crew, Wedge Antillies (Rebel pilot), Mon Mothma. Depending on the piece count, you could also include a midi-scale TIE fighter and pilot. Jedi Temple ($399.99) Probably done similar to the modular buildings in that the roof and various levels lift off in order to access the interior, but still keep it displayable. Entry level would have the halls with large windows on either side, and a few small rooms to serve as Jedi quarters. The back half of it would contain the library, containing a small room at the back that represents the Holocron vault. The second level would have the Jedi council room, a meditation chamber, and the planning room with the large holographic computer and various screens on the walls. If there's space, maybe a smaller room to represent the room where Yoda trains the younglings. Minifigures, all based on Ep III: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, Yoda, Mace Windu, Plo Koon, Yaddle, Shaak Ti, Barriss Offee, Yarael Poof, Jocasta Nu, 4x Temple Guard, 3x younglings, 2x Clone Shock Troopers. Jabba's Palace ($299.99) Basically a larger version of the 2013 release. The main audience chamber would be pretty big and have a smaller side viewing room for Han Solo in carbonite. The main tower would have the gate incorporated into it, but much wider and taller. I envision it sort of as an enclosed building with the tower/entrance area coming forward out of the audience chamber. The two sections could be hinged and swing opposite each other to allow it to open up. Opposite the section with Han Solo could be a room for the jail cells and the droid room. I'm not sure if it would include a Rancor pit or not, to be honest, just because of how much stuff the top section would have. Minifigures: Jabba the Hutt, Salacious Crumb, Bib Fortuna, Luke Skywalker (Jedi), Han Solo (Carbonite piece and figure, there would probably be some sort of switch mechanism so you can "Free him" from the Carbonite), Leia (Boushh disguise with extra hairpiece), C-3PO, R2-D2, Chewbacca, Lando (guard disguise), Boba Fett, 2x Gamorrean guard, EV-9D9, Max Rebo, Sy Snootles, 2x B'omarr monks, Amanaman, Doallyn, Ree-Yees.
  9. So just to be clear, these are indeed two additional summer sets, and not either the May UCS, something like the May the 4th promo (assuming it's perhaps another mini scale build), or the last April set, right? I know that most of those would already have set numbers assigned, but I'm just clarifying that no one made a mistake and accidentally mis-assigned a set number to the wrong set, and we're actually not getting two additional sets this summer. Also, on the subject of a Jedi fighter being one of the smaller sets, I think it makes a lot of sense, because they're pretty reliable sellers and people like them as a cheap way to get hero characters, but I'm curiosu who they would choose for the pilot? Anakin's delta class fighter is off the table, Obi-Wan's eta-class doesn't really make much sense as we just got the red one a couple of years ago, and we're already getting him in Grievous' starfighter, so the blue one wouldn't make sense either. I believe we just got Anakin's eta-class fighter a couple of years back as well. I guess if Order 66 is actually included in TCW, maybe Plo Koon's would make sense. Just speculation on my part, perhaps a bit wishfully.
  10. On one hand, I'm glad that they finally remade a set from one of my favorite scenes in all of Star Wars, and were able to do it at a lower price point while still giving some solid play features. The figures are also fantastic and for the size, I think they crammed quite a bit into this set. I was a little bit disappointed when it first came out but it's grown on me a lot since I bought it, my biggest gripe is honestly that one of my clip pieces is broken or something, because it refuses to connect all the way to the 1x2 plate with the pin on the other side, guess I'll have to order another one. All that said, on the other hand, I'd definitely pay $80-100 if they gave us a big set with the landing pad, a small control room build, and a larger space for them to duel. Wishful thinking, absolutely. But hey, I can dream :)
  11. Ultimately I never understood why the UCS label was regarded as this “sacred” thing and therefore they couldn’t release playsets under the moniker. The Ewok Village was UCS and no one had an issue with it, but just because people didn’t like the Hoth set, suddenly it became such a big deal. If you don’t like a UCS playset but still collect UCS sets, just don’t buy it. That’s more money saved for you. Relating this to 2020, a lot of speculation seemed to think that they’d release an MBS/playset type set in the fall D2C slot. Wonder if that’s a lot less likely now.
  12. So since the summer sets have had a bit more info released (we know 1/6, and we have approximate ideas of how big in size the sets will be), here's my predictions for it: The rumors at the moment seem to suggest 3 smaller sets around $20-30, two medium sets around $60-80, and a large set around $150. We know Grievous's starfighter is one of the medium sets. TROS spoiler inside: A small set vehicle-based set from The Siege of Mandalore, maybe some sort of speeder similar to the one we got with Maul a few years ago. Tough to say without having seen the show yet. Minifigures would be as appropriate to the vehicle, but probably one "flagship" character (Ahsoka/Maul), maybe a secondary character (Bo Katan?) and an unnamed character (Death Watch, Clone, etc). $29.99 CIS Tank Droid, $29.99. Includes the droid, a Wookiee warrior, a battle droid, and Luminara Unduli. Pretty much the same as the one from 2013, just Kashyyk based this time, with the main attraction being Unduli, just like Jango with the Geonosis one. B-Wing Starfighter, $79.99. Includes Ten Numb, Rebel Pilot, and General Nadine. Also includes a small docking platform. Grievous's Starfighter, price TBD, I'm sure most people have already seen the leaks. Republic Gunship, $150. Includes Obi-Wan, Anakin (both ROTS clothing), Captain Rex (Phase II), Clone pilot, Death Watch Mandalorian, and possibly one other figure.
  13. I think part of the problem for this sort of thing lies in them not entirely knowing how prominent certain vehicles/scenes are going to be prior to the media actually being released. I'm guessing there's only so much that Disney/SW can show them before release, and it's probably not much in the way of actual finished scenes, I would hazard a guess that it's more either concept art, stills, or very brief clips. The other thing that might be a bit different for TCW is that it's an established property. Just using Mandalorian as an example, had they made the Razor Crest this past winter, in hindsight, it would've sold very well, but they had no way of knowing how the show would perform. If it flops, you're stuck with a set for a show people didn't like taking up a $100+ price point, which is probably worse for their sales than a set for a show people disliked at a $40-50 price point. Since Clone Wars is already pretty popular among SW fans, they can be a bit riskier with large price point sets for stuff we haven't seen yet, because we already know most of the characters or will potentially buy the set even before seeing the show.
  14. Thanks for the insight! I watched it and though it was pretty good. It seemed like the pair that won the first challenge, and then the two bearded guys, the two young women, and the two guys that built the Egypt model stuck out to me as the best teams there. It seemed like there were a few groups that didn't really get much attention at all, namely the Egypt guys, the two older guys that built the Halloween model, and the two brothers.
  15. In all honesty, I don't either, especially if it is bigger than minifigure scale. The gunship is probably the only example of a non-speeder vehicle that they can actually make accurate at system-scale and have it reasonably priced, so I just don't see how they could make it bigger but keep it minifig scale. Yeah, the troop bay area on the current models is a bit too small, but if you go any larger, the proportions of everything else will get totally out of whack. It's just the nature of the medium itself, as well as the way that minifigures are scaled in proportion to LEGO bricks. I mean, a system gunship retails for around $150 USD, whereas the UCS set probably will be between $200-250, just based on typical pricing for other sets. I don't really see how they could keep it minifigure scale while adding enough "stuff" to it to justify a "UCS" price point. For those reasons, I think it'll end up being a display-type model that's perhaps 1.5x the size of the current gunships.
  16. See, you say that, but a lot of the folks that are going to be really upset when they don't get an entire Clone battalion with this set aren't thinking logically like that. The most figures we've ever gotten in a non-playset UCS set was the Falcon, and that was both way more expensive than this set is going to be (that's a guess on my part, but I'm predicting a $250 set maximum), and all of the figures (at least the OT ones) were pretty much necessary additions. Almost every other UCS set has been like 3-4 figs at the most. I've legitimately seen people expecting to get Rex, Cody, Wolffe, Ahsoka, and like 10 more clones. First off, that makes no sense, considering none of those characters are ever on a gunship at the same time, and second, there's approximately zero chance they base it primarily off of a TV show. My prediction is that we get two clone pilots, perhaps a clone to man the guns on the side, and maybe a "named" character or two (eg a Jedi).
  17. That makes a lot more sense, thanks again for clearing this up and apologies for the misquote. In that case, I'm a lot more hopeful about 75288 if it's going to be priced where you guess it is. Thanks!
  18. Unfortunately, doesn't seem to be the case. @jdubbs I believe said in a prior comment, and please do correct me if I'm misquoting you or interpreted something incorrectly, but something along the lines of "The largest set in the wave isn't going to be $140, people would be really mad it if was that expensive." I would guess that at best we get one gunship, but even then, I'm not sure if they could accurately do a gunship and price it between $100-130ish. Maybe an AT-TE, as those could be done for like $90 as shown in the past? Again, please correct me if I'm wrong because I don't want to spout information that isn't correct.
  19. A thought I just had: Assuming that price list is correct, and I have no reason to doubt it, and assuming that there aren't any other sets LEGO is hiding from us, this will be the first year since, I believe 2013, that we've only gotten two battle pack sets in a year rather than the four we've had for the past 6-7 years. I'm intrigued by that, because it seems like if they pick the right scenes, BPs are basically guaranteed sellers.
  20. I think if the Gunship wins, it'll be based on Ep II rather than The Clone Wars. It's got a more universal appeal, and I would kind of doubt they release a UCS set based on a TV show. I'm echoing a few others in guessing that the figures would likely be a pilot or two, perhaps one more clone, and maybe either Yoda or Obi-Wan/Anakin/Padme if we were lucky. Also, I think the question of the ISD's demand clearly being less than the Falcon isn't so much an issue with the figures and more a question of the ship itself. First off, while the figures in the ISD aren't that exciting, the figures in the Falcon aren't that insane either. Hoth Leia, Chewbacca, and C-3PO are pretty easy figures to get, and same with Rey, Finn and old Han. I think the only figure that was only available with the set was Han with the blue jacket, but that was put out the same year anyway with Cloud City. Secondly, I think it's just that the Falcon is way more iconic than an ISD. If someone was going to spend $700+ on a model, and I think it's safe to assume that many people probably are only going to pick one of them, I would guess more people would go for the Falcon. If you wanted to display the model, which for something that size, I think many people will, the Falcon is going to look a lot better on a shelf than basically a giant gray triangle. Last thing, I think a lot of people saw the resale value of the original UCS Falcon and bought the new one assuming that, even if they build it, it'll still be worth something once the set retires.
  21. I forgot if it was this thread or a different one, but someone did mention that SW was the 7th best selling line in 2019. For as big of a license as it is, it should definitely be top 5 at worst (I can see City and Creator being ahead of it, just because those are the most "classic" Lego products, but it really should be outselling any other license considering the popularity of the movies and size of the SW fanbase). A few people have noted that part of the issue probably lies in the fact that toys from the sequel films in general just aren't selling that well. Lego's obviously focused primarily on sets from the new films for the past 4-5 years, which is understandable, but I think the divisive opinions to a lot of the films has led people to not spend as much money on toys for a movie they didn't enjoy all that much. That could be part of the problem. The other might be that this past year, the sets largely received a "meh" reaction. The 20th Anniversary sets were good in theory and the sets themselves actually looked pretty good, but the prices were pretty ridiculous. The Slave I especially was like $20-30 more than it needed to be, I'm guessing mostly because they stuck in Leia and a "20th Anniversary" logo on the box. The Action Battle sets were cute and I still might pick up the Endor one, but a lot of people that don't have kids aren't going to really be the target market for those. Basically everything else that either wasn't (A) Sequel trilogy related, (B) Targeted more at kids (the Juniors sets, which I actually did kind of like, or Action Battles), or (C) 20th Anniversary was on the much smaller side of things. I don't know if the sales were reported in terms of dollar amount or number of sets, but if it was dollar amount, I can definitely see why. The only big sets were Vader's castle (Which most people seemed to like, but isn't that iconic of a location to where it's flying off the shelves), the Droid Gunship (which most people dislike), and the AT-AP (again, not a big fan favorite or anything). The OT stuff was all smaller scale (Death Star swing, Death Star Cannon, etc). Some people were saying "It's because they keep releasing the same stuff over and over again!" but I think it was just a mix of stuff that didn't have universal appeal and stuff that DID have potential being overpriced.
  22. Oh I don't doubt that at all. I myself voted for the Nebulon just because I think it'll be more likely that we get a system-scale Gunship that way, which I would prefer, plus the only real way to make the Nebulon is if it's UCS scale. And believe me, I would heavily consider the UCS Gunship regardless of the scale if it wins and I know that most of the people behind it aren't the crowd we're talking about here, it's just a vocal minority. I fully expect if the Gunship wins and it ends up being a larger-than-minifigure-scale display model (a very strong possibility) with like two clone pilots as the only figures, I expect a decent proportion of the, shall we say, "loud" LEGO fans will take to the internet to rant about how "This isn't what we voted for, why is LEGO giving us this junk" because apparently very few non-AFOLs are considering the possibility that it isn't going to be exactly what they hoped for. I am definitely anxious for the 30th to see who wins this, I expect it'll be pretty tight between the Gunship and Nebulon.
  23. If my hunch is correct (I have no insider info, so don't take this to mean that I'm hinting at anything), if we do get any TCW sets this summer, it would be something more like a couple of sets rather than the focus of the wave. My guess is that the wave will be something along the lines of 40% TRoS (final major sequel trilogy wave), 25% TCW sets (maybe 3 sets), like two Mandalorian sets (Razor Crest and Gideon's TIE probably), and the rest some random PT/OT stuff, assuming a wave of around 10-12 sets. Maybe a wave looking something like this: Two battle packs, maybe one based on TCW and one based on TRoS, possibly Resistance based. Some smaller TRoS sets, perhaps one based on the water-speeder thingy with Finn and Jannah, and maybe one based on A mid-sized TCW set, either something based on S7 or something from one of the later seasons that we never got in set form, maybe one of the Umbaran fighters, or something that would finally give us Satine (wishful thinking, lol) Gideon's TIE, priced around $50-60 Something TRoS priced around $80-90, maybe either one of the ships from near the of the movie or maybe a scene from Kijimi (the workshop building with a couple Knights of Ren or Stormtroopers, plus the Resistance characters from that scene) The Razor Crest $110ish, sized around the same as the Slave I, ideally a small interior where the back can open to reveal the cargo hold with carbonite molds, and then a ladder up to a small cockpit area big enough for Mando and The Child Republic Gunship, $130-150, might depend on what wins the UCS vote. One or two PT/OT sets around the $20-40 price point. The scenes/vehicles that jump out at me right away as things we either haven't gotten for a few years or aren't currently out in some form or another are a Desert Skiff, Obi-Wan's Ep III Starfighter (the red one), the Droid Escape Pod, a Naboo Flash Speeder, and a Gungan battle scene. I'd say two of those would round out the wave, plus the 3-4 Microfighters that we'd likely get.
  24. Right, I think there is a decent portion of people either voting for something that's not going to be anything what they're expecting and either aren't going to buy it because of that, or weren't going to buy it regardless and are just voting because they were told to. It could be minifig scale, but I would guess at best they give us maybe two pilots and a gunner, all Phase I clones from AOTC, and maybe Obi-Wan/Anakin/Padme if we're lucky. A lot of the extremely loud gunship voters seem to be asking for a Clone Wars UCS gunship with every clone commander, the 501st legion, and Ahsoka. I think it's safe to say there's approximately zero chance they would base a UCS set off of TCW, considering the percentage of Lego Star Wars fans who have even watched the show is probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-50%.
  25. Right, I think you've hit the nail on the head here. The system scale Gunship's two biggest limitations, in my opinion, are that the interior bay isn't wide enough, and the doors don't fully close. However, if you make it too wide, then you need to make it taller and longer, and then it's no longer minifigure scale, as those two proportions are already pretty ideal. I think it would be more likely that they scale it up and sell it for $300-350, because if it were to be minifigure scale, it might be more likely that they release it like the Tantive IV, where it may as well be UCS, but it's technically not.
