It seems LEGO has given up on making 4-wide City vehicles... I get 6-wide gives much more detail and you can only do so much with 4-wide but some of the scale of the 6-wide trucks are way off. They are bigger than most City buildings.

I guess the gas station is only good for 4-wide vehicles?

Remember the Passage Parisien entry from Modular Madness in 2012? Maybe LEGO designers took some inspiration from this well designed MOC. http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=72203

This bothered me when I came out of my LEGO dark age... the modern 6 stud wide vehicles look like giants next to classic Town era 4 stud vehicles. And also, the fact that Modular buildings are so much bigger than both Town and City buildings. After many sleepless nights, I decided I was being silly and just let it be. When you combine your collections, you will end up with larger and more fancy cars and buildings on one side, and smaller and more simple cars and building on the other side. I imagine this is what Berlin looked like right after unification.

Wow, this is my favorite entry so far

The exterior detail is superb. I would buy this set if it was a real LEGO set... looks like a fun build.
-
The layout is nicely planned. I like it very much.

Thank you for taking the time to write this detailed scaling tutorial. I find it very informative and will apply it to my future MOC in trying to visualize the real building vs. mini figure scale. Also, 180cm = 5 ft 11 inches or commonly written as 5'11. "5.91ft" doesn't make any sense because it is not metric... 1 ft does not divide into 10x 0.1 ft - it is divided into 12 inches. I know I know... crazy Americans with our non-metric system

I really like your Pinkberry inspired store front. Great concept and execution.

These bus models are pretty amazing. Good work! There is another HK bus fan here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=60721

Thanks for posting your bus photos The 379 Bus Station was my first LEGO set. Sometimes I really miss the simplicity of these early Town era vehicles.
-
Your town looks a little sketchy... I don't know if I will feel safe walking down the street.
-
This brings back so much memories I see you also have two modified classic bus in the background... let's see some bus photos!

Looks like most of your sets are from 1985-1988... I know this because I have almost exactly the same collection But most of my sets are still collecting dust in my mom's loft while I convince my wife that I need a LEGO room. It's a much harder sell because I don't have a 4 year old son.

I did something very similar with my City Corner set to make it "modular compatible". A small suggestion for improvement... you may want to look into increasing the height of the first floor ceiling by 2 or 3 bricks. It will make for a better looking building. But otherwise a great idea

I'm not surprised by more police and fire as they tend to sell - we have to remember there are more 8 years old LEGO fans than there are older teens and adults. I'm hoping for more 6-stud wide vehicles. The ambulance mentioned in the first post sounds promising.
-
I think I must be getting old... all the "classic" town set you posted in the original post as comparison are not what I considered real classic era set. Those are "new" as well. Here are some town vs city comparison that will really show how far things have come (for the better in my opinion) 379 vs. 8404 6384 vs. 7498 6367 vs. 3221 6695 vs. 3180 6369 vs. 7642 Just to name a few...

The first floor has really tall ceiling. The entire building looks so much bigger and menacing than the house next door

How to print out part list from LDD?
bzcat replied to bzcat's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I just wanted to update this thread in case someone searches the same topic in the future. Following the earlier suggestion, I download the LDD Manager and was able to export the parts list to Bricklink. -
I think the level of detail is dependent on good design, not necessarily type of building or style of architecture. You can make a stair with 10 simple 4x2 bricks or 40 smaller pieces... it's up to the designer to think creatively.

Thanks for the clarification, I will give it a shot. -

So if I don't have MS Access to run LDD Manager, there is basically no way to get a parts list? My earlier observation about HTML build guide is wrong... it doesn't list all the parts in the set, only a partial list.
