  1. those long airplane like bricks on the blades seem to be fot this set only... bummer.. hopefully lego checks the buzz around this set.
  2. i don't know, there are a few gears in the 'motor', so i'll have to say yes... or it's just for the motor not burning up! that PF motor set is a good alternative for the electronics, then you'll only have to buy the PF extension cables... anyone found those airplane type bricks on the blades already? well, if they're not releasing it it's just sparing up parts until you have the complete thing collected... Might not be too hard seeing that there aren't many special parts you'll need..
  3. *darn, just added this post i see that i can vote again!* This is one of the best sets i've seen, although it doesn't have much parts just due to it's scale it's a great addition to anyone's collection.
  4. Gimme that wind mill! hell i'll order the parts seperately if it doesn't come out, maybe TLG looks into the heads of their respected fan-base and doesn't let us down. Better yet contact a few energy suppliers if they want a spot on the stickersheet, so you can choose... Or even let it be vestas exclusive, i dont't cate, i just want it for my collection! in other words, put me on the list! and check lowlug (our friends in holland), they've got a parralel topic to this one. So you can write down even more names!
  5. wrap your engines in plastic bags, as long as the electrical system isn't exposed i think you could use it as a snow-plow. I had it apart and back to bulldozer again a few days ago, tried building the alternative model but it really isn't as rigid and cool as the bulldozer. while building it i also noticed it uses a mere 3 motors instead of 4. well, i'm waiting for a racer with enough force :D bulldozer-on *wub*
  6. well you could do a stop-motion movie with legos, but it costs a lot of time!!! how it works: you make still-pictures of your lego setting, each one with a little difference... then you could import it to windows movie maker (or something similar) to do the animation... another way to do it is to still make those stills but make a setting in which you can explain your story :)
  7. Made something small this afternoon: Bulldozer video
  8. LEGO Bulldozer: Behind the design Stops at approx. 50% of the video though 8-| there's another build of the bulldozer with pneumatics in the video too... that looks kinda weird... but then again... there's not enought room for a compressor in the model... i don't see me pumping every two minutes :P come on lego, let's see some big magical RC pneumatics model in 2008 :D
  9. jeah that excactly how i feel... the quickbuild instructions are way too late anyways. anyone who's gotten the dozer has it up and running allready :) well maybe they can save the day by releasing some goodies and a more advanced alternative model.
  10. There is another set with a more diverse collection of police/firefighters/medical sets. but if you're in to resqueing minifigs this is your best bet... since i have no police station yet i'll just wait for that...
  11. hopefully they'll try some sort of control centre III. i mean those sets are endlessly beautiful, and affordable for ones who think the NXT is overpriced. Even the models in those sets aren't average (like the dino in CC2 and the drawing machine in CC1) Well, The IR models are cool too, maybe they can make a IR control center... just imagine steering 8 motors with just 1 platform *wub* *wacko* what the hell, you could even make the platform so that two people can operate 2 different models! The bulldozer was way too simple for me, but the model itself looks great when completed, drives like a maniac, perfect for chasing the cats around (and bulldoze up their 'spillings'. but cover up your blade, or else the sh*t will be everywhere!) Well, waiting for a far more complex model! :-D
  12. Bart smit had it already, picked it up as soon as i could get there... bulldozer-on *wub* Review will soon follow... but where to put it???
  13. gotta give him credits for the a$$-kissing though *wub* X-D Back to the bulldozer! i contacted a local toy shop, and it should arrive there next week or so.. just in time for my next months salary!!! hmmm i guess it has been spent already >:-)
  14. You can find those (yellow version) in the 4559 train: http://www.cs.sun.ac.za/~lynette/mylego/pics/4559.jpg maybe a idea to make it modular.. though it still doesn't look as cool as the metroliner set :(
  15. Even better, a lot of dutch people here i see!!! but know them, you may not *vader* thus, having all my old lego sets in a descent condition (read: stashed in big boxes!) maybe i can do some older review (e.g. classic space set 6927 8-
  16. Well i can imagine that if lego get's their pneumatics division straight then maybe they can think Airtech claw rig + PF!!! Then again if the bulldozer really proves to be a great model why should they go back to pneumatics, The 8421 didn't work well, why shoould a new model. Back to the reviewed set, it looks kinda cool, but the back where the crane is looks kinda empty. very good front and style of the model though!
  17. Normal pics will follow, actually excactly the same as the above ones. for people who want to try this on their own, look for a japanese site on google, search with the words 'Anaglyph 3D maker' it's a fairly small program for the soul purpose of making 3D images out of 2 separate images. But Photoshop can do this as well!!!
  18. Well i think the main focus of this set was to take the crossing between SYSTEM and TECHNIC. It gives me a feeling like this should be built bij 'kids' who are basically to old for system but too young voor advanced technic. with this in mind it makes an excellent set. And what you mentioned before, it's even a good set for the parts (lots of parts are 8, 16 or even 32x!) I'm now desperatly waiting for the bulldozer to come out here! the money is waiting to be spent! >:-) *alien*
  19. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! let me the be the first to introduce the world's first 3D LEGO review!!! So get your 3D glasses out and start watching the rest... Are you done yet??? good! here we go then! LEGO Creator ferris wheel Since it's the first set i made after my dark-ages i can only compare it with 'much' older sets. It came to me actually. We went on a holiday with my girlfriend's parents, and they decided to give both of us presents. Thus my girlfriend being a woman she got lots of clothes, but they could not make up their mind what to give me, andthat present is exactly what you're looking at! well, to the review part. Unboxing, sorting, and new happy surprises! Well the big box was a adventure to take home on it's own. It's pretty large for the contents inside. A mere 2 sealings were needed to be cut before you can open the serial-type box. once opened we did what we always used to do when we got a LEGO set. Put the box upside down and see what rolls out. There were more bags then i've expected, but that's a pleasant surprise too. Immediately you find the Motor and Battery box from the new power funtions, I took these away from the rest, look for the small review at the end! The bags were sorted as they were, but in other more convenient bags! Also the 2 base plates and the manuals for all three (that's really neat from our TLC folks!) models, rolled out of the box as if they were made to slide. Construction of the first part I'm not very happy with the idea that tiles are placed on a base plate, they're hell ot take off again. but when you finish the base plate it all falls into place. The build in itself is very much like: 6 parts of this element, 8 parts for another element. So when done you've seen enough elements and you will be done building. The nest moment is the time you put the wheel on it's base. the base consist of lots of small details like plants and trees, the entrance, the path to the wheel itself, and the 6 connection points for the pillars. those pillars are all 6 the same, until you get to the top where the axle comes on. Another details is the immense amount of technic parts that are needed for the base. Another handy use for those technic thingies!! The wheel The wheel is another cool element that makes up the total image. The motor is attached to the back of the base, where a small technic series of cogs and a belt makes the wheel spin, note that the belt slips a bit before making the wheel spin. The wheel itself consists of a H shape and two connectors for the next H shape. The 8 H's and 16 connectors make up the complete wheel. Another downside is the way the wheel is connected to it's axle, this technique is most unstable when put together, on the other hand it just 'works'. Gondolas These are also very straightforward, so no real surprises here, The bad thing is the gondolas are to light, which make them move kind of weird. Electronics The new motor and battery pack are a nice surprise in a set like this. It doesn't need the remote since it's not really a dynamic model. They are pretty good incorporated with the model(s). Other models The other models tend to are really cool when you see them, however the crane is a bit of a disappointment, it just moves the wire forth and back.. The suspension birdge however is really cool!!! Scoring Playability: 3/5 Design: 5/5 Construction: 3/5 Overall 4/5 Your comments below here please, and tell me if i should do another 3D review or not!
  20. yes, there is! >:-) I'm Crazydance, a 22-Year old student from the Netherlands. I Just came out of my dark ages when my girlfriend's parents decided i was ready for the LEGO Creator ferris wheel. After taking my time and building the thing i was hooked once again. My other hobbies by the way are Movies, and 'kermis' or carnivals. i'v always been in to smaller Legoland and system sets, now that i'm a bit older i see a more bright future in big lego technic sets. so that will be my main focus point. In the mean time i'll try to review most of those sets. By the way, how many of you have those red-blue 3D glasses, maybe i can do a '3D' review once!
  21. Maybe i can do the ferris wheel review for you, make some quick shots of the most important elements. Little story and some blah about whether it's cool or not, and presto... X-D But this thread was for the bulldozer, and it's coming to holland too. So i'm definately buying one of those as well. :-$
