Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
FrkW replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I saw someone raise this point on Reddit too and it made me curious. Do you mean that from like a realistic perspective, or that you just prefer easily identifiable buildings in Lego? Because where I'm from the buildings are old and rebuilt or repurposed multiple times. The only way to identify the type of shop is by signs or window displays and on top it's apartments or office space, usually pretty anonymous. I think that might actually be part of why I like this, hotels and museums are easy identifiable but the rest of city centres usually aren't. -

Didn't we say that about Tudor Corner too? I didn't think that was real first, but this seems to be in the same genre. It really does feel like they're choosen a new path with the modulars, and I am all here for it. -

This really is the golden age of modulars, can't wait to see the inside. -

It's up on the website. I like colours better a little better now, and in the last pic with the other WV sets it doesn't look quite as small. I think I would have liked it a lot more if they had stuck to one 'wing' of the house and made it it a little taller. And more detailed inside. I don't know, it just lacks that magic something for me.

I'd love a residential building, especially if it comes with a small shop. Birch Books is one of my favourites, and he's right that there's a distinct lack of housing in the city, especially the last couple of years. -
I just looked through pics of the last couple of years sets, and it really doesn't hold up in comparison in my book. It looks small and sort of plain, a throw back in a bad way. The last five years or so have all been amazing in my opinion, but this pretty much breaks the streak. Hope it's temporary.

Not sure if I'm just geting old and cynical, but I don' love it. It's not bad, just not magical. Feels a little empty inside. And honestly, like the the Elf Clubhouse did the same thing, but better.

I think the truck seems sort of old school? In a not great way. Like something that might have been a GWP ten years ago. I don't love it. To me it seems sort of unfished. Like the parts doesn't quite go together.

Finally a poinsettia! Wish it was larger, but oh well. The wreath is absolutely gorgeous, just hope it's durable enough to actually use.- 137 replies

Poinsettia and wreath is up at the website, shouldn't be long now! Side note: that's four Christmas decoration type sets this year, got to be a record? Also, the wreath is *gorgeous*. But it better hold together better than the last one or for the first time in my life I'd be forced to break out the kraggle...

Anyone seen a picture of the Family Reunion Celebration next to the modulars, as is/unmodded? I'm geting FOMO... -
I expect it to be about the size of the Friends and Princesses baloons in 41097 and 43216, quite possiby manned by Santa and packed with presents. That would leave plenty of pieces for a sizable building.
-
I agree, and we already have a carousel and a Christmas Market, so I'm not sure what it would add. A ballon-ride over a winter wonderland sounds like a lovely addition.
-
I don't know, it's giving Victorian whimsy, I think it could be a lovely set. Not the first thing that springs to mind when I hear Christmas, perhaps. Maybe a polar expedition to Santa's village?

I honestly loved the Birch Books, I know that's a somewhat controversial opinion. Boutique Hotel is one of my all time favourites, up there with Parisian Restaurant. Police Station was fine. Never even bothered with Corner Garage (or the diner), not my aesthetic. Haven't gotten to the last two yet, but Jazz Club gives me same vibes as the Police Station. Museum looks good. So, quite a mixed bag for me.
