Leak out of Korea - looks like the Black Friday GWP is going to be this Hot Chocolate Stand. A welcome addition to the WV.
-
As they haven't officially announced the set, it wouldn't be in that catalogue. I think they do another late holiday catalogue in late November/early December, and it will be in that one. But given the teaser video they released a few weeks back, the set is definitely coming.
-
I'm very glad that didn't turn out to the be one of the holiday GWP's. Black Friday is late this year (November 28), so I guess we're still a little more than a month away from the VIP early access weekend. Maybe we'll get some sort of leak in another week...
-
Ugh, I hope that's not accurate. With its exclusive GWP, I'm almost certainly going to be picking up the Enterprise-D when it releases on Black Friday (or, more likely, the early BF deal they do for VIP's/Insiders/whatever we're called these days), and I'd like a nice WV GWP to boot! And as for the train - I completely agree. The better sets are the AT-AT and the gingerbread house. I have the first train, but I'm a bit of a completist, so I'll probably pick up this one eventually. But, as always with the Winter Village, it's what could have been. So many more buildings that need to be made. I'll also mention that Santa's Post Office does have the "Retiring Soon" tag in the U.S. Short shelf life on that one, and understandably so, but that also means that secondary prices will likely jump up after it's gone. Just in case anyone is still on the fence...

This place has been crickets for about a month, which is unsurprising given the general disappointment in this year's train set. Here's hoping that at least one of this year's holiday GWP's will be a nice addition to the winter village. I would think we'll get some sort of leak for the Black Friday GWP in the next couple weeks.
-
Yeah, but this is next level clamping down. We've seen pictures of the Enterprise for at least a month, and it's not dropping until the end of November (according to rumors). I'm guessing we don't get the official WV reveal until next week.
-
40809 Festive Gingerbread House looks good too. I'll definitely find a place for that in the village. With the UCS Death Star most likely to be revealed on Thursday, I'm guessing that we're stuck waiting until at least next week for the official reveal of this year's WV set.
-
Still no more WV news, but pictures of 40806 Gingerbread AT-AT are out. 697 pieces and comes with just the Gingerbread Darth Vader minifigure. Very whimsical, fun set. Will definitely be picking this up.
-
That was my first thought as well - I really hope we don't get another train station next year. I believe the first train station only stayed on the shelves for 12-15 months, so I would assume that meant it didn't sell well. Hopefully that fact will save us from another train station. I love the WV line, but I am not much of a train guy, so I'm disappointed overall at another train. I find myself instead looking forward to this gingerbread Star Wars set as well as the 40809 Festive Gingerbread House, and I'm very enthusiastic about the City Advent Calendar this year - those minifigures look great!
-
Yeah, they're really keeping a tight lid on the WV info this year. Plenty of into on October 1st sets has leaked (notably the UCS Death Star fiasco), but not a peep about the Winter Village. I will note that the rumor about the Star Wars holiday sets has changed, and now the most prominent rumor is that we're getting a Gingerbread Vader's TIE to go along with that Gingerbread Darth Vader minifigure that got leaked several weeks back. Given the reported piece count of just under 700 pieces, a TIE makes a lot more sense than an AT-AT.
-
Not exactly WV news, but pictures are circulating of a gingerbread Darth Vader, reported to be coming with a Gingerbread AT-AT this fall. I love the look of the figure!

If Santa's Post Office retires this year, I highly doubt this will become a trend. I think it would just speak to the degree to which this set sold poorly. That said, I don't know where Brick Fanatics get their set retirement data, but this info does change over the course of the year, so the Post Office retiring isn't set in stone...I don't think. I believe that the last WV set that lasted just one year was the Train Station, and when Lego retired the Train Station after one year, they kept the WV Train for a third year. So, if Santa's Post Office retires this year, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Alpine Lodge kept around for another year. The Alpine Lodge must have sold soooo much better than Santa's Post Office.
-
You know, I could see some logic to this. I thought last year's Santa's Post Office set would have been a little better received if that mail truck came with the set. I understand that there are people that like having the ability to buy the vehicle by itself, but I think the Post Office would have felt like a more satisfying build/set if that mail truck were included. At the time, I wondered if the desire to preserve the $100 price point was the reason that the truck got split off on its own, and maybe this year Lego has reversed that decision. Hopefully we're going to see 200-300 more pieces than usual if the price is jumping to $130. And, in case anyone is still waiting to pick it up, the Santa's Post Office set is still reported to be retiring this year, along with the Alpine Lodge.
-
I agree that Santa's Post Office wasn't the strongest set. With it going, as well as the outstanding Alpine Lodge, Lego will need to come out with a really nice set this year. When they got rid of the Train Station after just one year, they kept the Holiday Train an extra year. I could see them doing the same thing with Alpine Lodge - it's esthetically very pleasing and, to me, it represents the best of what the WV line can be at its usual piece count/price point. But if they don't keep the Alpine Lodge, I hope they have a real banger lined up.
-
No early rumors on this year's winter village set yet, but I did see that Brick Fanatics has Santa's Post Office slated for retirement this year, alongside the Alpine Lodge. Unsurprisingly, Santa's Delivery Truck is scheduled to go, too. I don't think a WV set has lasted just one year since the train station.

I'm guessing everyone has seen pictures of the GWP Christmas Train (out now) as well as the Picture Frame and Nutcracker Ballerina, which are due out in December. I think the train is a nice looking set for a GWP. It's a shame that it doesn't really add to the WV line the way the Christmas Market GWP last year did, but it looks like a solid set overall. The Nutcracker Ballerina set is a real missed opportunity. If the stage had been made just a bit bigger, that set could very well have worked as an outdoor stage/amphitheater for a Winter Village, and the Nutcracker would be the perfect production to be on display at such a venue. The set looks just a bit small for something like that, and maybe it will look better/bigger in hand, but it looks like Lego was going for more of a music box idea with this set instead of doing something that would work as part of a WV. Might be a nice set in the end, but it could have been so much more. The picture frame doesn't get my attention much at all, but at least it's got a fun holiday look. At the end of the day, the GWP's don't add to the WV nearly like the carriage and market stand did last year. Definitely disappointing. And it looks like my dream of an autumn CMF line that has a WV theme will be delayed yet again, as next autumn's CMF line is pretty strongly rumored to be a Spider-verse set. I guess we can officially start the conjecture about the 2025 WV set!

I dislike repetitive builds in the WV line too, but I think these post offices are different enough that it doesn't bother me. When they first came out with Santa's Workshop, I thought it was a strange choice. But now they've really developed two different towns - one at the North Pole, and one for us mortals - and I find that I enjoy having the different styles and locations. At this point, I look at them as two separate winter villages instead of one big one, and while I think this was very smart from Lego's standpoint, I'm totally bought in. Both towns have endless possibilities for future sets, but I find myself perhaps a bit more interested in what they might role out next for the North Pole. And now that we have Santa's Post Office and the Delivery Truck coming, it will be time to turn our attention to this year's holiday GWP's. Hopefully at least one of them will be a set that works with the WV line.

I would hope that we'll be seeing official pics of this set by Monday or Tuesday. It should be available for sale a week from Tuesday. I still think we haven't quite seen everything that's included in the set - I don't see 1400+ pieces in the few pics that have leaked. Regarding the lack of updated anything with the elves, I would point out that there appears to be a post office insignia on the upper left chest of the elves. Unless that has been done in a previous set or CMF (I'm not aware of it, but it's certainly possible), then it would seem that we are technically getting new elf prints in this set.

Thanks, found it on Reddit. I like it overall. From a size standpoint, I think it's wider than Santa's Workshop was, with about the same depth as most of the WV sets. I think a lot of pieces are consumed in the hot air balloon landing pad and the contraption to get the letters down into the building. I'm guessing a traditional roofline would be a little more simple, and require fewer pieces. And I agree that the inside looks a bit empty, but I wonder if there will be a little more to it. There are a pair of studs where the mail should be dropping into the building, which makes me wonder if there's a piece of equipment that is supposed to go there to catch the mail. If so, that will likely make the interior look a little more full. I like the look of it overall, and I think it goes well with the Elf Clubhouse, while not directly replicating the lines of that building. I like the colors well enough - it looks more like gold/tan and blue instead of orange and blue, but I could be seeing that wrong. Part of me wishes that the truck had been included in the set, but being separate allows us to buy more than one truck for the post office if we so desire. Overall, it's different, and I like it.

Has the image been pulled? I'm not seeing it anywhere on that IG page

I can't remember where I heard it, but I believe there was information in the last month or two that the WV set would be revealed on September 22nd, or about there. I hope it's not that late, but it wouldn't surprise me. Lego knows how anticipated each year's WV set is, and I think they're happy to draw out the drama. I'd still like some teaser shots, like they did with the WV Fire Station several years back.
-
I believe the main set is going to be equally as whimsical as the Santa's Delivery Truck set. Unsure if the color schemes will completely coordinate, but I imagine we're getting a set akin to the Elf's Clubhouse, and I'm fine with one of those every 3-4 years.
-
Not sure if this has already been mentioned here, but looking at the picture (I can only find the one) on IG, the sticker doesn't just say "Post," it says "North Pole Post." The "North" and "Pole" are in those little red banners on each side of the green shield. Makes you wonder if the title of the set won't be North Pole Post Office.
-
I like the shape/curves of the vehicle, but I agree the the combination of colors may be a bit off-putting. I wonder if the color scheme won't make more sense once we see Santa's Post Office. It wouldn't surprise me if this truck was initially developed as part of this year's WV set, but was turned into its own set in order to keep piece count and cost down. Instead of $100 and 1500ish pieces, if this truck were in the set, the new WV set probably becomes $120 and 1650-1700 pieces. So, I like this strategy - keep the main set around $100, and then give us a smaller, adjunctive set to buy separately if we so desire. I have a feeling that we might need to get used to this color scheme real quick - particularly in the form of a hot air balloon.

It's a pretty flower in person, and my wife likes the looks of the set quite a bit. Looks like I'll be picking up one to build for the holiday.
