I made a change to the train carts. I managed to put in larger gears. This results in more torque. The trains are a little bit slower, but run more stable because of the lower speed, especially when docking into modules (in my setup). I did a test run, just with 2 trains, the loader / unloader / switching modules for over 1,5 hours without any problems at all.

Love to see the Akiyuki machines with some "Berthil" sprinkled over them. For a collection of my modules see https://www.flickr.com/photos/165570914@N08/ An brief overview: I still mis a few 9V transfomers, and some modules still need some work (the Ball Factory V3 and Strain Wave)

[GBC] Akiyuki Ball Factory
t0mster replied to Berthil's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sinterklaas has theatend me (and the kids) well this year I really enjoyed building the ball factory. Again great thanks for the building instructions. I still have some friction here and there. Iam thinking of getting some silicone spray for the axels. Do some of you also use some kind of lubricant? and if so which brand? The hockey stick XXL, also a great addition to the origional. I tried the "reverse engineer" the ball exit / baseball bracket output ramp thing.- 465 replies

Hi Berthil, What a nice improvement!. I have bought the origional instructions from akiyuki and took it down this morning to see what parts i need to make your XXL Version. The video is clear on most of the parts. Are you going to create some more detailed images on flickr? I also orderd the last bricklink orders for the BallFactory. I hope everything arrives before December 5th ;) Of course my kids get boxes of lego from the goodsaint, but dad also needs to be sadiesfied ;) PS Still a bummer i couldnt be at legoworld to see everything in action and meet you in person.- 465 replies

@Berthil I ordered a few of the tubes in germany. Thanks for the tip! i decided to tear down my βblackβ version of the ball factory v3 to reassemble the invisable lift iam now awaiting bricklink orders to do a replica in DBG. i hope with all the tips it runs smoother then the first time i build it. I never got it running flawless Do you think you are going to give this one a run at legoworld 2019?- 465 replies

Hi rskamen I ordered this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/0.html?spm=a2g0s.9042647.0.0.70d64c4d2deEWj&orderId=900130519619801&productId=32778220810 But its not delivered yet. What i have red on forums is that you need 3.2mm (not 3mm) for a good fit.- 465 replies

Ahh.. 92 hours of rendering ;). I agree with the black. But i had to tear down the invisable lift for the parts, and i realy also like your design / colors of choice. For the rainbow wave i hade to order some 2x2 blue-ish parts in portugal :) As far as regarding the kids. My son is getting 6 tomorrow. He is getting his own LEGO. I bought him LEGO BOOST ;) (its like MindStorms for little kids). For now i got the module working. Thanks again for all the time and effort you put into it. I still got some friction here and there i need to resolve but verry pleased with the result so far- 465 replies

Hi Berhil, I decided to go all "DBG". Recieved some large brickink orders today. Most importend where de axle L4 to finish the large wheel. The instructions uses L15 liftarms to support the wheel, but i think they should be L13 I still need to order L16 / L14 / L12 beams and lots of tiles (the most expensive parts). Just to get my wife not 'too angry' i will order those next month ;)- 465 replies

i made a small improvement, maybe its only a problem on my machine, but i found out that the horizontal liftarm is pushed to much to the left and right, resulting in too much friction i added the parts below so the horizontal liftarm stays more in the correct position I had this problem also with the V2 machine- 465 replies

Berthil. Great, Great work. If i look at the time you posted part4, i know for shure you had some "red eyes" at that time of the night ;) i almost finished the build, iam out of "axle L4" for the large wheel ;(. And iam awaiting an aliexpress order for the 3mm rigid hoses. I dont want tot use Lego origionals because they are too expensive and i dont want to cut them I dont know if its allowed to discus non-lego parts but this us what i orderd https://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/0.html?spm=a2g0s.9042647.0.0.70d64c4d2deEWj&orderId=900130519619801&productId=32778220810 The have an outher diameter of 3.2mm. They should fit well. I think there is an issue on 277. The most outher yellow 2x4 clamp part can rotate on its axle. Is that correct? The V2 instructions from blackbird (Page 135) mounts them "static" so they cannot rotate Here the result so far:- 465 replies

Berthil, Part3 is great again. I have noted the following: 263: There is an 1x1 tile but i cannot see where to place it. 280: Black pin floating in the air, not used until 281 291: There is an pin3 (friction with axle) but i cannot see where to place it. 299: i think there need to be at least one pin to connect/lock the liftarm to the gear Yeah, black looks also nice. Some parts i have to re-order in the correct color, but i will do that afterwords. Iam currently overthinking if iam going with black, or spend a few (a lot) β¬ more for the dbg colors- 465 replies

Enjoing every minute. For me the instructions are clear enough. I have seen you added an axle length legend on some pages. This is a great help. No scrolling ahead is needed. I sorted (most) of the parts out before i begain the build. I ignored the gearing / timing for now. I will do this ad the end. Other people are commenting some unclear sections, so the instruction can be improoved, but if you are an experienced builder you will get trough it as a warm knife trough butter. When i was young as a child, i had greate inspiration to build / design anything i want from scratch by just playing. 30 years later i came to the conclusion the inspiration to design myself is hard / has gone. But building your / akiyuki (and other contributors that improve) machines with the instruction gave me the experience i had as a child. And also my kids (3 and 5 years of age) love to play with de GBC's- 465 replies

Nice!. I just enjoyed building the part 2 i only see a problem with number 232. I cant seem to rotate the "bucket emptieer steering rod" When its in "down" position, the 2 1x5 half beams get stuck I can see in your other CAD version, this rod is different- 465 replies

Hi Berthil, I begun with the build, great instruction fo so far. The red outlines are a big plus. I found only 2 inconsistencies: Page 24 states 5x 1x9 liftarms, only 4 are placed Page 37 blue pin is floatin in the air, not being used till page 39 Maybe an extra number to display the axle / long liftarm length ? Great work so far and enjoy you holliday! Iam going for a more "blacker" version, because otherwise the bricklink bill's where too big ;)- 465 replies

Thanks for the tip! I do feel resistance when the long axle is pushing. Ill check it further tomorrow. i have connected axle sizes 9+9+9+5 (=32) together as i do not have a 32 axle Is on one of my bricklink wanted list's, but for this month i ordered enough (says my wife) I also had lots of resistance problems with the invisible lift. I ended up using some baby oil on some if the axle. The the invisible lift is a very "tork hungry" machine.- 465 replies

The 2 "towers" of 1x6. they are pushed out of place sometime's by the long axle. Again, maybe because of my "baseplate" construction. Still, dispite all my ugly color variations, this was one of the nicest GBC builds so far (and it wasn't even finished) Looking forward to Berthil's masterpiece.- 465 replies

Nice Berthil! I currently have the v2 ball factory almost done, except the most left ball loader. The gearing and techniques are marvelous, but I do see some weak spots. Maybe its because I donβt have 2 large base plates But iam going to tear it down to get started with your (v3) module. I think iam going to make the base all black, as i do not have that many dbg. I think i have most of the parts, but have to get briklinking again to get the correct colors. Especially this spot (below) is weak. But as far I can see in your preview this is taken care off ?- 465 replies

Hi Guys, i just registred here Beautifull machine Berthil!. At the moment iam building the ball factory v2 to understand the basics of the technic's used with all the enhancements in previous posts at this forum. Iam another dutch AFOL, 2 years ago i brought back my (large) lego collection from my attic to build with my 4 years old son, but after seeing your rainbow wave i catched the GBC virus. I have build the rainbow wave (with all the correct colors) and some of akiyuki's machines (invisable lift / cup-to-cup 2 / most of the type2 train modules (with your LIPO trains) (rotary module still in progress) / lift trigger with stuck ball / hockey stick lift Thank you for sharing your builds, it gives me great joy, inspiration and it costs me hours of time and large β¬ bricklink orders ;) I hope somehow we can see more detail of this "v3" ball factory, and maybe in the future a LDX ore instructions? You where at Lego World 2018, this year iam defenitly going to be there (as a visitor). Hope to see all the machines live in action- 465 replies
