  1. I think the biggest obstacle to a classic Harry being in the book is the hairpiece. These books don’t tend to introduce new molds and there’s a high possibility the original Harry hair mold doesn’t exist anymore. The Star Wars anniversary figs came mostly in sets, so if they needed ‘new’ molds to recreate the old designs it was easy enough to pull off (and despite some people liking them they must have struggled with widespread popularity, because when the same anniversary rolled around for Harry Potter we got gold figs instead). It’s also worth remembering that these books tend to be geared towards a younger audience. One that might find an illustration of the Minifigures’ evolution over time interesting, but really wouldn’t have any nostalgia attached to the original Harry design.
  2. The silhouette on the book is just a placeholder, the Minifigure could be anyone. I’m pretty optimistic that we could see another new(ish) character. While the theme’s original run just had Harry variants as the book exclusives, the reboot has been good about giving us different characters in books (at least as exclusives) - first the long awaited fleshy update of T.M. Riddle (even though a slightly different version appeared in a set the next year), and recently we’ve finally gotten a Percy Weasley as our latest book exclusive, so I think there’s a good chance we’ll see someone new.
  3. As far as I know it hasn’t been confirmed on way or the other yet - but I think there are many people wary about assuming it will use minifigures because most of the sets featuring young female characters like Wendy tend to be Princess themed and use minidolls. I think there’s a more than reasonable chance it’ll use regular minifigs, seeing as it isn’t a Princess set in any way.
  4. I’d call it magenta personally, it’s got a noticeably more purple cast to it but it’s definitely not straight purple
  5. Yeah, the idea that they want to pass the chihuahua mold off as a papillon occurred to me too. I didn’t know that Marie Antoinette was specifically connected to them before, but I knew they were a traditionally French breed (hence the name). And when I went to look up the French queen’s specific connection to the breed it seems there’s a decent number of anecdotes surrounding her little dogs, including a popular one that states she carried one with her to the guillotine (although obviously the dog itself was spare her fate). So definitely not a crazy choice as her accessory (an probably better than a piece of cake, especially since the infamous quote is misattributed).
  6. Is the baby a single piece though? I was under the impression that the normal baby was made of separate body and head elements, and assumed that the space baby was created by adding a third helmet+air tanks piece.
  7. I’m pretty sure it’s actually a recolor of that Stranger Things hairpiece, which is pretty rare and I’m not sure it’s been recolored before so almost as good as a brand new piece, especially when paired with such a nice new animal mold. You’re right about the legs though, the one tiny letdown on an otherwise amazing minifig.
  8. At least the girl with the foal featured a really nice unisex shirt with fully printed arms, medium legs, and a new recolor of a rare hair piece. The rocking horse girl’s shirt isn’t anything more than I’d expect to see introduced in a regular budget City set. Even the face print feels like something I’ve seen before, while the braces on the foal girl were a nice little unique detail. Overall, the girl that came with the foal looked like a regular City character with a budget reasonably higher than normal, whereas the rocking horse girl looks like she could appear in any regular City set and go unremarked upon.
  9. Can anyone tell what’s going on with the headdress (?) on the potter? It looks like the kind of headscarf used to keep hair out of the way when working, but there seems to be some sort of patterning on it? I can’t really make it out since it’s in the corner of the photo. And I think that hair wrap piece is new too. definitely the Black Falcon archer, animal keeper with koala, and potter - still trying to decide on the brown spaceman and Marie Antionette
  10. If it comes with Dug I will be obtaining it by whatever means necessary 🤩
  11. My mind is torn between “you don’t collect classic space figs, you don’t need that” and “jdmdkf space baby” and I don’t know which side is going to win
  12. Falconfan just revealed on Instagram that the Disney classic animation set 43220 will be based on Peter Pan. That’s the $20 111 pieces one so I’m expecting the molded rowboat and/or crocodile pieces to feature.
  13. I’m wondering whether it will actually be a baby astronaut or if that’s a iffy translation and they actually mean mini astronaut. i.e. Lego just sent up a crew of minifigs on Artemis I so I could totally see them doing a low key reference to that by giving the newest lego spaceman a classic lego spaceman (really a nano figure) as his accessory.
  14. I see at least three on that list that I’m definitely going to need :) wasn’t expecting a potter but I really like the idea. And I’m always down for new animals.
  15. We’re past overdue for one really. The shepherd’s crook was done in the Toy Story 4 sets (albeit in need of recoloring), and we’ve now got a adult sheep, lamb, and an extra piece to represent shorn wool. The most standard dog mold is even technically a shepherd dog! It’s easily the most blatant archetype not to be done yet because all the molds already exist. So I can’t fathom why it hasn’t happened yet - it’s as obvious a choice as the series 21 centaur warrior.
  16. If Disney really wants lego to waste a chunk of budget on the platinum versions of the main mascot characters I find it much more likely that lego would put them in the speculated D2C and leave the CMF for a more nostalgic showcase of Disney animated characters through the ages. Makes way more sense as the celebration versions would all go well together in a set (and wouldn’t need any new molds) while unnecessarily stuffing them in the CMF would take space away from characters that need the CMF mold budget and leave the designers scrambling to figure out exclusive minifigs for the theoretical D2C that haven’t been done yet. I genuinely think there’s a good chance the only classic mascot character we’ll get in the CMF is Sorcerer Mickey. With Lego introducing the Mickey & Friends theme that has already produced several versions of the classic core characters at non-D2C prices - putting anything more than the requisite Mickey variant in there to represent Disney Animation’s origins is just going to hurt the CMF sales even among casual fans. Kids aren’t going to want to buy a blind bag if they look at the package and see mostly the exact same heads they’ve got at home in their playsets after all, and platinum versions are definitely something that’s really only going to appeal to adults (another reason I think they’d do better in a D2C).
  17. Googling ‘Lego Terracotta Army’ definitely turns up several Chinese knockoffs right on the first page of images. Given that it’s an archetype that’s been brought up as a possibility before and also one of the few knockoff archetypes that would be actually appropriate for an unlicensed CMF, it’s certainly a possibility.
  18. Weren’t kangaroo and koala mentioned as well? An Aussie naturalist archetype has definitely come up as a possibility in CMF discussions before, and with several design elements that could make a character distinctly Australian even without a marsupial companion I definitely wouldn’t discount lego going that direction.
  19. I mean, technically yes, rumors indicate that the upcoming CMF will have Disney 100 branding, but isn’t that like arguing about shovels versus spades? At the end of the day it’s a CMF of Disney characters and the slight change in branding isn’t likely to change the fact that we’re unlikely to see character (or variant) repeats. The more specific theme might change the choice of character lineup slightly, but not nearly enough for it to feel like a different Minifigures subtheme.
  20. The actual set and costume designs for the play are actually really nice. It’s the out of character writing and complete disregard for the previously established rules of time travel in the Harry Potter universe that make me reject Cursed Child from the main canon. So I wouldn’t be horribly upset if we got something based off the visuals of the play. Plus, if they treated it anything like Fantastic Beasts we’d only get a couple of smaller sets before lego gave it up as not being lucrative enough so we likely wouldn’t be subjected to lego versions of any of the more horrendous scenes. (That being said, I do agree that we absolutely do not need a Cursed Child movie)
  21. I think lego would likely put out a massive D2C they could slap the Disney 100 branding on irregardless of what other Disney D2Cs were already on shelves. The fact that the hugely popular castle set is retiring at just the right time to make space for such a set is to convenient for it to actually be a coincidence. After all, that castle is just the sort of big ticket item that the marketing people at Lego and Disney stores would really like to have on shelves when they’re doing 100th anniversary promos, the fact that it’s leaving at the exact time that Disney’s planning on getting everyone hyped up on nostalgia suggests there’s something else equally large and eye catching in the pipeline for fans to splurge on.
  22. These two were already done in series 2, so it’s incredibly unlikely we’ll see them again in a CMF. If you missed them back in 2018 then your best bet is hoping that lego does something for the milestone anniversary next year as people have speculated in this thread.
  23. There’s also a promo for online purchases where you can also get $100 off for just 100 VIP points (which is a really low amount under the current system). Kinda makes me wish I’d waited for the Black Friday/VIP weekend promos before grabbing mine. Something to keep in mind for next year.
  24. They get the eyes and nose on just fine, and that one variation from the CNY set has a design printed on the rump - so spots seem well within the known printing capabilities :)
  25. Maybe we’ll get the rabbit in brown at the same time
