42110 - Land Rover Defender
JackBloomer5 replied to 1gor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
In looking that chassis I can't help but wonder if the new 11x7 frames will be in this set. I hope they are buried somewhere in there because I need them in a color other than white -
I agree and if the do it right majority of the livery could be done with panels and lift arms and then the individual logos could be small stickers rather than like the 42096 being plastered with giant stickers. Plus, who says you have to put on the stickers? I bought the 42077 and never put the stickers on and it still looked great. I donāt like stickers are a huge deal and as long as there isnāt a color issue like the 42096.

For me, with the exception of the āultimateā, what the coming sets are donāt matter. As long as we get panels in a straight-up standard blue, like a 42042 blue. For the āultimateā I hope it is a licensed racecar rather than a luxury road car. I would like it to be an IndyCar, NASCAR, Formula 1, or LMP1/DPI. These are my thoughts and I just hope we get new parts as well because they always are fun to figure out of to use.

What can we expect from the gearbox in terms of pieces? Do you think there will be a wave selector or even the new driving ring extension, hopefully not in yellow? -

I canāt tell if the wheel rims are standard size or similar to the Porsche and Bugatti. I really hope they are standard because I need some edge mounted rims in that size. -
Axle Collection Thread
JackBloomer5 replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So I've noticed that this thread has a lot of live axles but what about indepedent pushrod, like F1 or IndyCar style. The 42000 had new suspensions but what the front like steered F1 style front suspension. I've tried but nothing seems to work right. -
Unfortunately, there was a problem with the order and it never arrived. I emailed them and who knows what will happen. The most notable piece from that batch was the red light brick that I wanted to put in the rear of the vehicle. I put a picture here later of the model as it is now with stickers. Probably won't get my parts till late July or early August due to my current location. So yeah. By the way I did start my next model which is the Acura ARX-05 DPI.

I don't think it should be RC but should be designed to be easily RCd because of price. If they treated it like a 42056 or 42083, they could pack it full of functions; transmission, DRS, suspension, and realistic bodywork. If they made it RC I think that would drive away the racing fans who simply want to display it.

I have said this before but I really hope that they release a scaled F1 or Indycar, really any open wheel, because new parts are needed so that we don't break parts. For example my Mclaren Indycar had about the best front suspension I could get without new pieces and it was still pretty soft. Point is, they could use it to release new A-arms parts, pushrods, shock rockers, new wheels rims/tires, and even panels. Racing fans would buy the set for the model while Lego fans would buy it for the parts. In my opinion a win-win.

Update: Started adding stickers. They are a little small but they make it look more or less like the actual car.

The model is completely done with the exception of stickers and pieces I won't get for a month and a half. I added rear view mirrors and overhauled the steering to make the steering wheel turn more within the cockpit, steering wheel is also sitting 1-2 studs higher. I also changed the rear light, not a true light yet, and I think it looks better. So this is it, no more changes will be made to the car and I do plan to publish instructions for it but that may take some time and lots of help (my computer is not very powerful).

Thanks for the feedback, and now that Iām in the fine tuning stages of the model, I want to focus a little bit on the rear. The suspension ended up similar to the 42000, albeit unintentional, and I have several translucent red bricks, many 1x2 plates, several 2x2 bricks and two 1x4 bricks. I want to use these to make a rear brake light like in the real car but what I currently have looks kind of ugly and simply not great. Any ideas? I'll put picture of current design when I get home and work on it but I have been thinking about it for a couple days and Iām stuck. Edit: eventually a red light brick will take a place in that spot.

They are flat but there isn't much I can do to fix that. I had also thought of that and tried ways to fix it but I simply don't have the parts. Now that I think about it I could shorten the width of the side pods by a stud or two to make it seem more proportional, I'll see when I get home.

The model is effectively done and will receive very few changes from now until the end of the month. I will be getting two part orders in early June so that I can update the colors and make it more accurate but for now it is as done as it can be with the parts that I have. (Stickers going on to the car late next week) Most Wanted photo

Here is the beginning of the bodywork for the car. My Dad has helped a ton with the bodywork so that`s always a big help. I also printed the logos which I will be turning into stickers sometime this week. Model will be done by 23rd or 24th this month.

Efferman's Custom Parts
JackBloomer5 replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Could you possibly make a 8L or 9L link but with perpendicular joints rather than on the same plane? I have an idea for them but don't have time to make them, I can print the parts however. -
This was just released and considering the parts I have it might be a better option. What you guys think? This is Fernando Alonso's color scheme for the 2019 Indy 500.
