DC Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion
Mandalorianknight replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
The list is totally fake but Batwing being the guy to get re-used from Arkham would be so on-brand for lego DC. None of the villains, especially not anyone who needed a new torso print to have a non-jumpsuit version, but everybody's favorite bat-family member, Batwing, we gotta make sure kids can get him. -

Honestly, if you aren't planning on building it until Christmas anyway, I wouldn't put hedging your bets on a discount out of the question. The GWP is a nice add-on, but worst case scenario you could brickset the parts for much less than even a 10% discount would be. The set is very divisive among the hardcore fans who would spend $1000 on a lego set, it's $1000 to begin with, and I'm not sure how large of a factor adults who aren't generally into lego but would spend $1000 on a diorama collection would be, seeing as lego's own research seems to imply that crowd is more into non-minifig compatible stuff like all the midi-scales and statues they pump out. It's not unlikely lego holds out hope that the christmas season will increase sales and holds off on a discount, but I don't think it's out of the question that we see one, especially since even at a 5% discount you've more than made up for the cost of having to bricklink the GWP. I agree in general- a stormtrooper/navy trooper battle pack in 2026 would have been a much better choice than 332nd redux, for instance- but I will point out that while the Night Troopers are currently planet locked, come fall 2026 I have a feeling we're going to see a lot more of them... The concept of Dedra cloning Syril and him rediscovering what kind of monster she really is and completing the redemption he started in S2 would be an excellent story. It makes perfect sense as something she would have done, too, and could at least semi-fit into canon. She's resourceful, I'm sure she could find a way to the imperial remnant after escaping prison in the fall of the empire, and someone like Thrawn or Gideon is a far cry from the bureaucracy that jailed her. I don't think that's fair. The people who got it for free and are recommending buying it, that you have to take with a grain of salt. The people who got it for free, are implicitly being used to sell the set, and are still telling you it's not worth it? I think that's a harsher condemnation of the set than someone who bought it themselves. -

Unfortunately I don't have much faith. There's too many characters to cover everyone in any real capacity, and it seems like they're hyping up the X-men and Fantastic 4. Allegedly half the thunderbolts just... don't get to participate in the main story at all. Between the leaked marvel legends listings and everything else we know about the plot, it does seem like the focus is on the X-men and F4, so I doubt we see the bolts in the sets. And as much as I love them, in terms of film coverage it seems the logical choice to exclude them. And even if we do get them all, John's gonna have that stupid beret if it's a doomsday set. Luckily we don't have to worry about that gaudy star on Bucky because he won't get arm printing. Sounds like that's the consensus, thank you for the recommendation! -

It wouldn't require more than one new mold, too. Just adapt the Jabba mold to have pin holes instead of minifig arm holes (which is how the 2024 mold should have been from the beginning), and brick-build some swole arms with the bigfig fist pieces. I don't think that's comparable. The underside of a vehicle being ugly limits the display to "not high up on a glass surface" or "not hanging from the ceiling". The back of the $1000 death star being ugly, and the overall slice format, limits it to being displayed in a manner where you can only see it directly from the front. I mean, case in point, nobody's complaining about the underside of the death star being ugly. It's the back that's the issue. Exactly. This one already sacrifices the spherical shape and other aspects of the design to maximize the dioramas, so it is a bit odd to have figures that weren't actually in any of those diorama scenes. A battle pack bulking up troops that plays a little looser with screen-accuracy (or is just pulling from other sources) would have been much better, but we all know if it doesn't include clones or mandos we can't get a battle pack of it. Actually, if we can only get clone battle packs.... in the legends Thrawn Trilogy, the Grand Admiral obtains spaarti cloning cylinders and uses them to create a clone army (this was before the prequels- canon seems to be solving the "how does Thrawn solve his troop deficiency" with night troopers). Technically speaking, if they based a battle pack on that, it would, in theory, be a clone battle pack. I will choose to believe that all figures with heads like 3626pb1367 is a Spaarti clone from now on. -

If I'm parasocially deluded enough does this mean we're getting the Thunderbolts? My local Walmart has the full spider-verse CMF. I tried to find 2099 but couldn't initially get the scanner to work and didn't want to stand there trying to scan the boxes for a half hour. Does anyone have a specific scanner they reccomend? -

To be fair, in the specific scenario of imperial military officers, long hair on the men actually WOULD be crazy (or at least not accurate). Especially in the OT they tended to stick pretty close to standard military regulations regarding that sort of thing. I feel like they could have just done everybody a favor, kept the DS1 set's figures accurate, and put a reddish-brown chinstrap head in an Army Trooper/Stormtrooper battle pack. People who want an accurate DS figure setup are happy, people who want more colors for other OT era projects are happy, and you don't have to buy a figure exclusive to a $1000 set if you want to make a custom. Even a Jaded sponge is nonheretical twice a day. Look, I get if you were trying to say that it doesn't add much to the thread if all the post is is asking for a specific set again, but c'mon, you couldn't find a nicer way to say this? -

My thing is just if you're parodying it, assumably the parody would be about how bad of a speech it is and how bad it makes Sam come off, where Jon has a pretty valid reason to crash out on Guy being a tech guy's goon instead of his space cop job. You want Jon to come off as right, whereas the TFATWS speech mainly elicits violent cringing. Ok, I get the point you are trying to make here- there's not really a connection between captain falcon telling a senator the terrorists are the good guys because he hasn't solved politics yet and architectural space cop telling guy to stop working for Zuckerberg- but in the particular example you chose I think the only reason Spider-man's escaped that exact scenario is he doesn't live in the midwest. If the writers have the ability to kill one of his loved ones in a way that inflicts maximum trauma, they will. We live in a world where his biggest 616 win in YEARS is telling MJ and Venom that they deserve eachother. -

Man I hope not. That speech is what turned me against Falcon as Cap (Not that it should have gone to bucky, who also got assassinated in that show by constantly looking for a reason to jump John.). "You can't call the woman actively killing innocents and saying Lemar's life didn't matter a terrorist, you guys have to do better" "But this is complicated, what about the people who came back from the snap to find someone else moved into their home?" "I don't care, do better." Jon could do a very solid, military discipline style verbal beatdown on Guy just of "You're a space cop. Act like it. Stop working for a tech company." For soup, I assume it's because hero vehicles tend to preform better than villain ones, and lego has so little faith in anything not batman from this theme that they wanted to maximize it's chances. For rocket, I have no idea. I really hope SOMEONE on the design team thought "Hey, rocket's known for riding on the shoulder of a large figure, what if the mech was a groot?", but then again, I wouldn't say they're known for good choices. Maybe there's some stipulation that the mechs have to have the character fit inside the cockpit? Peacemaker's essentially just become DC deadpool, I doubt we ever see him. Especially because there's not any relation to the Bat-family. -

And you've once more added yourself to that list. Luckily, the Gingerbread AT-AT is only $60, which feels a lot better to me. Yup. This stupid "updating for a more modern interpretation", with no explanation as to what that actually means, plagues just about all IP. Is there a single person who likes the inclusion of the new style hot tub trooper who wouldn't have liked the old one? The designers say they couldn't use existing dual-molded legs for the officers because of the budget, but it was worth it to create a new pair of dual-molded, printed legs for a character who didn't have them in his original version? I mean, even if you think about some of lego's "modern interpretation" changes, such as making more torsos gender-neutral, the classic stripey one-piece would have been able to be used on male or female troopers, whereas the figure in the set can only be male. I couldn't see any upside to this version when it first leaked, and I'm disappointed to see that the designers didn't seem to have an upside for changing the figure either, just the classic "modern interpretation for today's world" bantha poodoo. It's likely that whatever it was, it was out of the designer's hands, but this doesn't make sense to me. The legs already exist in that color- it's not a recolor to do that. And the Hot Tub Trooper includes dual-molded legs when the OG version didn't. @Meaf, I guess I agree, it's not anything particularly new and exciting and while it's been long enough that remakes are warranted, it hasn't been long enough for them to feel exciting. That said, I wouldn't blame lego for it, seeing as we haven't yet seen ANY new vehicles out of the leaked trailers and stills so far. Though I do hope that $45 may set is a gladiator arena with Rotta "The Bear" the Hutt and the other character who I don't think the trades have announced yet. -

Unless the TIE pilot has a slightly different torso or something, yes, you should just be able to buy the parts and figures off bricklink for pretty cheap. The price point is the big downside of this set, I think. If this had been, say, $400, and correspondingly under half the size (and able to be wall-mounted), I think it would have done just fine. But this slice gimmick just doesn't work for a set that's the most expensive lego's ever done. This is intended to be the flagship of the theme, and it should have been the sphere. I mean... yeah. That's what a GWP is. That's why they do them- to incentive you to buy the set at release by throwing in some extras. The point I'm making with this one is that it's nonessential. Nobody was looking at the death star set going "man, I would buy it, but it's missing a mini TIE fighter and hanger rack." And if they really want to (unless the tie fighter pilot has a slightly new torso or something), they can probably find the parts and figures on BL for like $20. It's an add on of some small imperial builds and troops to fill out the DS but nothing that would make the set look incomplete without it. Would you prefer if it was an exclusive figure? If it was entirely unrelated to the set it's a GWP for? If we just didn't get a GWP at all? -

Same. I really only like about a third of the trilogy (I used to think TROS wasn't too bad, but I think the only thing I really liked about it was retconning all the TLJ stuff), but it has some excellent designs. And it's also one of the biggest victims of size creep with how big the T-70s were getting, so the starfighters and rey's speeder at least would benefit from a downsize. Thank you! TLJ's my least favorite of the films- as I always like to say, my expectations of "a good movie" were definitely subverted- but it also has my favorite sequel designs in terms of the Silencer, AT-M6, and Star Fortresseses. Whatever was happening with the story and themes, the ship design team was firing on all cylinders. Rey's Training ($9.99): A hut facade for luke and the boulder thing Rey trains by in that shot that was so prominent in the trailers, with a turntable for rey to swing a lightsaber into the boulder and knock it over. Comes with Rey and Old Man Luke. Poe Dameron's X-wing Microfighter ($12.99): Poe Dameron (pilot), bb-8. Praetorian Guard Mech ($14.99): Comes with a few different weapon options and a Praetorian Guard minifigure First Order vs Resistance Battle Pack ($19.99): 2x first order snowtrooper, 2x resistance trooper. Build is a dish turret and some Crait terrain. First Order AT-ST ($44.99): First Order AT-ST (with head this time) with a First Order Walker driver, First Order executioner, Finn (officer disguise), and Captain Phasma (battle damaged) Throne Room Battle ($54.99): Snoke's throne and some area in front of it with turntables to pose figures. Comes with Supreme Leader Snoke, Rey, Kylo Ren, and 2x Praetorian Guard. TIE Silencer vs A-wing ($109.99): (downsized from 2018 model): Comes with Kylo Ren, BB-9E, BB-8, a First Order Special Forces TIE Pilot, Tallie Lintra, and Poe Dameron (fatigues). Star Fortress Bomber ($129.99): Red livery. Comes with Finch Dallow, Nix Jerd, Spennie, Paige Tico, Rose Tico, a Resistance Flight Engineer, General Leia, and Admiral Ackbar. AT-M6 Assault ($179.99): AT-M6 (~1300 pcs) and resistance Ski Speeder (~300 pcs). Comes with 2x First Order Walker Driver, 2x First Order Snowtrooper, General Hux, Poe Dameron (ski speeder pilot), Finn (Ski Speeder pilot), Chewbacca, and Admiral Ematt. UCS: Kylo Ren's TIE Silencer ($239.99): Kylo Ren (Printed arms), BB-9E. -

You're looking at it as a pure % cost of the set purchased, but every previous UCS set shows that it's not how that works. The $800 AT-AT didn't have a $40-80 GWP, it was a lightsaber worth $10-15 of parts. I can't remember ever seeing a GWP that'd be more than a $25ish set, MAYBE $30. Certainly nothing close to a $50 set, much less $100. Welcome to eurobricks! I agree- the death slice is a pale imitation of the sphere. If you've got the money set aside already, I wouldn't dismiss the idea of finding an old 2016 one out of hand. Excellent set. With how often we say this I wonder if Denmark's CIA equivalent ever gets tired of having lego fans comprise so much of their terror watchlist. To be fair, I do think a new crest is a good idea, and it'll have been 6 years since the last AT-AT, which isn't too long but for a major vehicle doesn't feel egregious either, especially if it's based on a different project and as such will have- at the minimum- a totally different figure loadout. Weren't the TMAG AT-ATs in the trailer the rebels/JJFO version too, rather than the standard ESB one? -

The Starship collection is our best bet for a lucrehulk, as between the smaller scale, 18+ target market, and no need to fit minifigure-compatible interior space in, they could easily make a $60-80 set that would sell just fine. I'm apparently the only person on the forum who thinks this, but I actually quite like the concept and don't mind the execution. In theory this is exactly what a GWP should be- a nice bonus for buying the set, like an expansion pack, but not some new exclusive figure that's going to get marked up to hundreds of dollars. The Chibi-TIE isn't the best execution, the pod is a bit flattened front-to-back, but I think people are acting like this should have been an accurately proportioned TIE fighter that could fit a pilot at ~160 pieces. I think this works just fine for what it is- it adds a bit to the death star but doesn't feel essential to the set. Figure selection is nice too- it bulks up the imperial presence but isn't some exclusive officer or anything. This seems like a major issue. You bump into the top part of this thing and you better pray none of the parts themselves break when it smashes down. I agree it could have been a bit more substantial, but if you were expecting lego to drop a $50-100 set as a GWP, your expectations were unrealistic to begin with. I don't think they've ever dropped a GWP anywhere close to that value. Even though I think the GWP is a good strategy for lego to adopt (again, the tie fighter execution isn't great but this format of a nonessential extra that bulks up the official set is perfect), the better images of the full death star have me concretely believing the set itself shouldn't have made it past the concept stage. Palpatine's window and the other bits sticking out is a major error in this set. You can't wall mount it, which was what I assumed the benefit of the Death Slice would have been, and it'll look bad from most angles besides front-facing. It really should have been a sphere. -

You underestimate them. Remember that these are the people who made a rocket raccoon mech- not a groot build in the mech system with rocket riding it, a big mech body with a racoon tail, and who made mechs for Hulk, Thor, and to my count at least 5 spider-men by next year, but haven't done Peni. They're the people who gave Soup a mech to bully an unpowered human. I'm guessing our next mech is either the Jonkler or Harley (if they can bring themselves to do a villain one) or just another Bat-Mech. According to Master Oogway, tomorrow is a mystery. Clearly this confirms my boy the Question. -

I don't even care, we're double posting: Force Awakens wave. On the bright side, literally every system set from TFA is due for a remake, so I more or less have free rein, but I'll do my best to make things a bit interesting. Rey's Speeder ($9.99): Rey and BB-8. Similar to the 2015 model, just not comically oversized. First Order Transporter Microfighter ($12.99): Captain Phasma Kylo Ren Mech ($14.99): Kylo Ren (new hood mold with the helmet covering the face) First Order Attack ($19.99): 2x first order stormtrooper, 1x First Order Heavy Assault stormtrooper, 1x Flametrooper. Build is a small turret alongside a weapons rack with riot shields and batons. First Order Snowspeeder ($34.99): Smaller than 2015 model. Comes with 2x first order snowtrooper, Han Solo, and Finn. Poe Dameron's X-wing ($54.99): Poe Dameron (pilot), BB-8, 2x resistance trooper, and General Leia Organa. Maz's Castle Assault ($89.99): Small interior cantina with the two side walls (that can fold out for more space or stay inwards for the more canonical look). Features are included to knock down portions of the walls, and there's a buildable HURID-327, as well as a 501st flag easter egg. Comes with Maz Kanata, Finn, Rey, Chewbacca, Kylo Ren, a First Order Stormtrooper, Captain Ithano, and Varmik. First Order TIE fighter vs Resistance X-wing ($109.99): Blue and grey T-70 X-wing and First Order TIE fighter. Comes with Ello Asty, Jess Pava, 1x First Order TIE fighter pilot, General Hux, a resistance BB-unit, and first order snowtrooper commander. First Order Trooper Transporter ($129.99): Comes with Captain Phasma, 1x First Order Technician, 4x First Order Stormtrooper, Lor San Tekka, Kylo Ren, and Poe Dameron (jacket) UCS: Poe Dameron's Black One X-wing Starfighter ($239.99): Poe Dameron (dual molded legs, printed arms), BB-8. -

It will likely be overpriced, but to be clear, the holiday AT-AT is probably around 15% 1x1 plates/tiles (Hence the fact that it's a lego star wars set that somehow has a PPP of 8.5 cents- though I think it is still solid value overall). While we've shifted from fewer larger parts to more smaller parts, so I wouldn't say 2010's 815 piece AT-ST with 8 minifigs and a turret is likely, the part density of the 2025 holiday model is the other extreme. The TMAG one will likely be somewhere in the middle. Overpriced? To be sure, it's a 930 piece $150 set. Unless it's a new motorized one, it's overpriced. But that's not to say it's going to be close to the size of the holiday model. Exactly. If this size is used for a normal OT one, that'd be an issue, but for a holiday one it makes more sense. I definitely wouldn't drop $150 on a full-sized gingerbread AT-AT, but I'm probably going to get this smaller one. The first two are fairly clear to see, and the same reason- giant playsets are very rare in this theme. It took us 24 years to get Yavin, after all. We know Petranaki (Edit; I have been accidentally calling this the Pentaki Arena for probably 5 years now and no one ever corrected me on the name, do locations not count as Glup Shittos?) arena was explored at one point, I'm sure the specific difficulty there is the arena beasts- the original prototypes looked a bit rough, and while I'd love brick-built ones I know a lot of fans are very emphatically in preference of molded creatures. The jedi temple is a bit more surprising- it seems a "dollhouse" type one with 10-15 jedi would do very well- but again, it took us 24 years to get Yavin. Big playsets simply aren't all that common. The Lucrehulk is a similar thing- capital ships are also fairly rare. We go about a decade between our ISDs, it's been 16 since the playscale Venator, and the rebels and seppies barely get anything. (The first order getting their single Resurgent-class, and the resistance getting nothing). It's likely in the same vein that we've never gotten a playscale mon cala cruiser (either of the main versions). And if we do get a separatist flagship, one like the Invisible Hand is probably more likely than the Lucrehulk. The Lucrehulk is simply an odd shape that would be hard to represent at that $160ish playscale size and stability with any sort of real usable interior. -

Exactly. This is a circumstance where while the ship is downsized beyond what would normally work for a system set, there are extenuating circumstances. It's a festive non-canon representation- nobody's going to be using this as the centerpiece of their imperial army's might. Exactly. And it's not necessarily relying on TCWS7 either, "red mandalorian" fits pretty much anywhere in the saga and it's by far the least represented primary color. (I'd really appreciate some without the Maul handprint to use as generic mandalorians, but they aren't very prevalent). I don't think adding 332nd troopers is going to add much of a draw considering, as you say, there's so many on clearance shelves right now. Ooh, good question. I don't know, to be honest. I could see the arguments either way. I think I'd prefer the claw in lego media like RTG or a game, but for the physical figures I think the handprint does work as it's reflecting painted details on armor rather than an actual hand. Yeah. My view of the Mando S3 pack may be slightly skewed by it having one of the best battle pack builds of all time, but I think it's figure selection made more sense. It's the only thing I can think of. Even if it was just some exec going "this algorithm says people bring up clone troopers and mandalorians, can you do a battle pack of both of them?" or something, the 332nd was probably the worst legion option out of the colors at the siege of mandalore. Using the 332nd out of all legions feels almost spiteful. Had this been a pack of 4 red mandalorians, I would have absolutely army-built it. Even if it had been 2 red and 2 blue (which I have plenty of from the various battle packs and other sets they've been in), I'd probably have gotten one or two. I will not be buying any of these. Yeah it's a fun, festive build, has a crazy good figure, and a suspiciously good price. This... might be my favorite set of the year? Wild statement, I know- it's funny that the last one I said that about was also a non-canon set. Though in this case I'm pretty confident I'll be picking it up. I like to imagine this is just playing from Wat Tambor's speakers as the life leaves Jango's eyes in the arena. -

That's reasonable- but I can't help but wish lego had just done a pack of four red mandalorians. Aside from forcing anyone who wants to get red mandos to either abstain or army-build 332nd troopers- which already had a battle pack recently- the fact that it'll almost certainly be 1 male and 1 female mandalorian, and each gender has a different helmet and chesplate style, means that you can't really mix and match parts to prevent any multiples from looking identical. This is the big thing for me. No matter the piece count or figure count or price per gram, selling something that feels incomplete is always going to make the value seem off. Especially when a previous version had the complete shape. ESPECIALLY when it's the most lego has ever charged for a single set. Actually, it's $60 (Though it seems like there was some discrepancy on the price early on and $60 is just where it landed), which feels pretty reasonable. 700 pieces for $60 on star wars in 2025 is a godsend, even if there's plenty of small pieces here and only one (albeit one very detailed) figure. Yeah, this may be the only 2025 star wars set I end up buying, somehow. Gingerbread AT-AT is very festive, that cape on Vader is immaculate, and the value is surprisingly good. I may pick this one up. I appreciate that despite the smaller size they kept those big ratchet joints in, which will make it much easier to pose. -

Yeah, exactly, that sort of thing. Of course there's always more marketing when a new project is out, but even if seeing the coca cola can won't get anyone to watch a non-existent new project, it might get someone to rewatch one of the movies with their family that night on disney+ or something. It's a smart move from a brand perspective and from my perspective I just like seeing star wars stuff around (even if in this particular example I don't drink soda.) Out of revealed minifigures, I think we've got everyone but Gingerbread Vader (who I do think leaked), so that's a wrap unless the GWP has a new TIE fighter pilot print or something. I haven't bought any of this year's sets, but looking on brickset, I'd have to go 1. Nightdeath trooper (Deathnight trooper? that could work, it's homonym for Death Knight, at least in english, which is very thematic). What can I say, I'm a sucker for the Kintsugi look, and the gold cracks look even better on black armor. 2. Young Ahsoka - good representation of the character, nice to get her with midi-legs, solid printing all around 3. Plo Koon - He's in 3rd only because the character itself wears fairly basic robes, so there's not a ton to write home about on the torso and legs, but the new mold is excellent. Honorable mentions to the printed arms AT-ST pilot (almost the perfect version of the character, but it sorely needs the visor to actually go on his face), Jango Fett (excellent detailing, but I'm still not sold on the new antenna mold and the colors remain off), and Commander Bacara (I think his helmet is too big, but otherwise looks great.) Honestly at this point for consistency I'd prefer P2, but if they're the $45 battle pack I'm not going to get them anyway so I don't really have a horse in the race. -

Yes, the justifier's a great example. It's value is fairly consistent with other (pre-juggernaut) sets at that price point, it's just not a ship most people would want to spend $160 on regardless of value. I'd agree, but with the asterisk that whatever the phase, the total volume needs to be significantly decreased. I understand why we mainly get phase 2- they're from the more popular projects (ROTS and later-era TCW as opposed to AOTC and the earlier seasons, which aren't as well-regarded), and since 3/4ths of the figure would be essentially the same between the two it would be even more aggravating if they were putting out large quantities of both. But I always kind of preferred the phase 1 design in a vacuum, I love that rocketeer fin, and I wouldn't mind seeing the captain and lieutenant or something pop up in a spider-droid or snail tank somewhere. Of course, for the price lego charges, they could also just include a second set of helmets in some of these sets... Yeah this is just a thing that brands do. Disney specifically has a big deal with coca cola- I remember back in 2023/2024 they did a Marvel set of various red characters. I think the logic is even if there's not a specific project to promote, there are people more likely to buy the coke if it's got a character they like on it, and it also functions as free advertising for the star wars brand as a whole. This is something star wars often does, and ties into lego sometimes- there was a big cross-promotion between merch brands for a "year of the sith" or something last year, and while the Evil Falcon wasn't branded as part of it if nothing else it's a fun coincidence. -
DC Superheroes 2025 - Rumors & Discussion

Absolutely. There's only one movie where he actually calls the justice league for help (and it's also the best comic-book scaled DC movie). This is also why almost every movie batman kills- they lack the comic-book skills to do things like "fall from space without a parachute and live", so they have to rely on more grounded, punisher-like takedowns. Adam West is simply too skilled to have to rely on killing to defeat his enemies- why shoot the joker or push him off a ledge when you punch so hard the sound generated by the hit explodes into a visual form? -

As @psqidexslizer says, most batman films end with hollow victories (batman beats the villain but loses his love interest, the villain's plan mainly works, superman dies, batman has to frame himself for Dent's crimes) As for the second part, again, this batman has a tiger deterrent that off a throwaway line is apparently strong enough to create a black hole and destroy the universe. He is able to turn piles of dust into mostly correct human beings. Asking why a sub launches time-anachronistic missiles without seeing visible doors is asking the wrong question. Begins is a bit of a reach to be honest. Yeah, there's another criminal out there, but I wouldn't really call it a dour note. (Also, for The Batman, I think "Riddler's plan worked and gotham is a disaster zone" might be a bit more dour than "Batman splits off from his potential love interest".) But yeah, I'd agree Rises has the happiest ending, because he gets to be Bruce again and live a happy life. '66 batman probably does have access to hammerspace. Even better. -
LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!

I think you hit the nail on the head here. I think in terms of objective value of plastic/pieces/figures/prints/what have you, the Death Star is good value (at least in terms of modern era licensed lego). By price per piece and all that the value is there- it's better than the AT-AT, in fact. But while it might not be overpriced, it's designed for the wrong price point, if that makes sense. Like, if lego made a 1:2 scale statue of the Mandalorian Fleet Commander that was $1,000 for 20,000 pieces and came with 55 unique mandalorian minifigures, the objective value in terms of price per piece/ppg/figures/etc would be there. But who would buy it? As you say, it's not cool enough to warrant a $1k price tag, regardless of if the value is there. The death star isn't like the turbo tank, where it's simply overpriced for what's in the box. The concept of the set is just set at too high of a price point for what most people would consider spending on the idea. If the set was half the size, had half the figures, and was half the cost, I think it'd stand a much better chance. I mean, if it's for the clones, why not just buy the last 332nd pack? At least around me I routinely see it on shelves for $16, about 30% less than the next one's going to retail for, and you get four 332nd troopers instead of 2. And watch them release that trailer as the official trailer in a few months. I see plenty, just like last year there was a lot of "Just need the 327th, then we can pause.", but as to your larger point, I think the issue is the premise. I'm not saying that if we have to keep getting clone BPs, I'd rather a legion besides the wolfpack- I'm saying the opposite. I like the wolfpack, but I think we need to stop getting so many clone BPs. We've already started repeating legions. The argument could be made (and I'm sure it shortly will) that we've never had a true battle pack of normal 501st troopers in the new helmet-holed style, or that it's been 5-6 years since the last normal 501st battle pack. Or that legions like the 212th and galactic marines haven't had a normal battle pack. At least anecdotally, it seems that after the initial sales rush, the clone battle packs are starting to shelfwarm hard- I STILL see the 332nd and 501st specialist packs at my local walmart for $16. I would hope that at this point lego's got enough data to see the diminishing returns without watching the new august wave wither- especially because clone oversaturation is hardly the only issue with the 327th and galactic marines sets. But sure, if we're in a scenario where we're doomed to battle packs being exclusively clone troopers with occasional mandalorians, getting Plo's Bros would be one of the less bad options. Certainly better than another 332nd pack while one's still warming shelves. -

Still waiting on piles of 1x1 studs representing the atomized united nations leaders before Batman uses his "anti-disintigration" ray or whatever to casually recreate actual life. Or the tiger he uses the 20,000 decibel emitter on (20,000 decibels being enough to cause a black hole and destroy the entire milky way if he'd actually used the full capability. '66 batman should be the one used in powerscaling, man's gadgets actually rival superman.)
