  1. Very, VERY nice! Looks incredible, and has a solid amount of interior space! My only complaints are minor nitpicks, for the most part, that will be easy to mod (top turret doesn't rotate, engines are blue). While I obviously would have preferred rebels based figs and have doubts as to the prevalence of the two new characters in the show, the selection and number are fine given the set itself. The phantom is small but that's not an issue for me given that it has to, you know, fit into the ghost. (The 2017 Phantom 2 looks hilarious attached to the 2014 ghost) Money wise: The 2014 ghost was $90 with 4 figs and 929 pieces, or $115 in 2023 dollars (Man, the past few years inflation's really gotten bad). The new one is $170, right? For that $55 price differential, there's an extra fig and an extra, what, 400 pieces? Certainly could have been $150 or $160, but not nearly as bad as many other sets have been. Given how much I love Rebels, if there's one set I'm buying for the remainder of this year, it's this one. Which I totally didn't expect, as I have the 2014 model, but this is such a vast improvement. I'll see how much I can get the 2014 ghost to sell for and then build up the 2017 phantom 2 into a minifig-scale model.
  2. Haven't we already had lego phantoms? I think you're right that it's likely he's hinting at the ship. The printed Kamas still really annoy me, as it's not like they can't do dual-molding for SW, and it looks really weird from any angle but head-on. Similarly, the white-on-darker colors print also seriously annoys me. Given the cost of sets nowadays, you should be able to do this. My Batmen shouldn't all be extremely pale or extremely tan. The design errors are also really odd choices as it's not like a printing limitation, they just messed up, and with the torso it would actually have been EASIER to do it correctly- less white print. TLDR: Fox is maybe the most egregious example in lego's quality cuts. I'm not normally the "x clone isn't perfect so lego is bad" guy, but this is like the perfect example of how far lego's quality has slipped.
  3. They are the perfect examples of the most annoying film characters in the 80s and modern day respectively. Willie might be more of a drain on my auditory systems but you might be right that Helena is overall a more annoying character, at least everyone else in the film recognized Willie as annoying.
  4. Supposedly the main character from that is also present with the actor from that, so I'm very excited as a fan of the character in general, even if not that specific interpretation. That said, we aren't getting deadpool 3 sets. It's definately a hard R rated film and I can't see lego budging on that. The most we get is sets involving some of the characters (but I'm not even sure we'd see deadpool himself) or possibly sets based off the films of certain characters with extended cameos.
  5. I LOVE short round. He's the only kid character that I remember actually relating to as a kid (as opposed to child anakin in TPM, Ahsoka in early TCW, or any of the other billion characters), and perhaps consequently, the only one I can tolerate as an adult. I love his mirroring of Indy in scenes, and how Indy clearly sees him as a sort of son. I wish he was in KotCS or DoD. Willie Scott on the other hand is by far my least favorite part of the movie and I understand if you've rated it so low for her alone. She could have been replaced by a voicebox with an audio clip of a scream and it'd be the same thing. Now this I 100% agree with. I'll add in temple of doom, of course, to round out the trilogy.
  6. Now THAT is a hot take, putting one of the original three behind the almost universally despised ones. I'd go RotLA, LC, ToD, KotCS, DoD, with the gaps between them corresponding to how much better/worse I think the film is than those around it. (So RotLA and LC are almost on par with eachother, ToD is a visible step below but still on their playing field, KotCS drops off entirely, and DoD somehow makes KotCS look good)
  7. This looks like one of those meme sets. What was the idea here? That the gauntlet sets sold well, and they needed something in a different color so they couldn't just do iron man's gauntlet? The gauntlets didn't sell well because people like collecting forearms.... I just hope that when this flops, they won't say X-men sets don't sell well and, say, cancel the mansion or something.
  8. It always takes some time after the set releases. Granted, a month is a little long, but we'll see them eventually.
  9. First off, this "it's made for kids so it doesn't have to be accurate" discussion is just false. I was a kid, I work with kids, friends of mine have kids, and I can tell you with absolute certainty that a common thing kids do is gain an insane amount of knowledge and detail on a random fictional franchise. Kids can tell that it looks weirdly boxy. Now, is the set terrible? No. Is it immune to criticism because it's not UCS? Of course not, that's absurd. Seconding this. Look, it's not a terrible set, just substandard for something a lot of people were calling for for some time. I like that they went for the red color scheme. Though I would have preferred more figs, if the design was better, I might have gotten it. As is, I'm gonna need to see higher-quality images, and even if it looks better in them the best I'd do is wait for a sale.
  10. I misread your previous comment thinking you meant you were confused as to why you weren't able to buy the sets yet, when rereading it I'm pretty sure you meant the pages for the sets hadn't been put on S&H yet. (Sorry, I've been working 14 hour days this past week) Gunship.... oof. I'll wait for better images before full judgement, but disregarding the color scheme, this just looks worse-designed than the 2013 model. Blockier and smaller. Not to mention a significantly worse figure selection.
  11. Thank you! Hmm. This is one I'd kind of want to sell instructions for. My standard go-to is 1/100th of the piece count (i.e. a 500 pc moc would be $5), but while this one is 1700 pieces, a lot of those are just 1x2 LBG grilles placed next to eachother. Not exactly rocket science. If you'd be willing to pay for them, what would you consider a fair price? (And if not, no biggie) Thank you. I wanted to make it a little more interesting than just a grey slab while still keeping the G1 ramp design, so I used DBG for the G1 mold's indents.
  12. The only franchise I'd buy lego sets for that hasn't gotten at least some love is Dune. (I mean, I'd love sets based off Netflix Daredevil too, but that's A: never going to happen, and B: part of the marvel franchise which we do get sets for) I've talked about this before, but there's so much they could do, and it seems so clear. I'll probably write out a more complete list tomorrow, but you could do a full wave with battle packs, ships, locations, dioramas, even a D2C, without doing anything too obscure. The first of the new films did pretty well commercially and wasn't any more inappropriate than say, Andor or Rogue One. However, I did say "at least some love". LOTR, Indy, and Transformers are all stuck in a weird limbo where we did get set(s) recently, but we at best (LOTR) don't have confirmation of more coming, and at worst can be reasonably sure there won't be more sets anytime soon. LOTR and Indy I'd be fine with a few dioramas and a D2C every couple years, as while I love the franchises (seriously, the first three indiana jones films really hold a special place in my heart), I understand that there's not much appeal to kids. But Transformers... c'mon! Major franchise, big appeal to kids, practically made for lego. If we aren't getting a full range of transformers at more of "minifig scale", why can't we at least get some more G1 figs in Prime's style? Bumblebee? Megatron? Soundwave? (I know some of my favorites like Ratchet and Wheeljack are too much to ask for). I'd even take another one-off of Prime's trailer, which I made a MOC of here.
  13. Same. I wouldn't have bought any DoD (DuD) sets, but I wouldn't have complained if a wave of them was somehow what was required to get more than 3 sets for the original trilogy (or KotCS, I suppose, though personally I find it almost as bad as 5. At least it had the decency to start the character off in his classic adventures and end the film in a good place for the character, even if all the stuff in the middle is- in my opinion- really quite bad. DoD had an opportunity for a perfect end, teased it, did the worst possible next move after teasing it, and then ended with "hey remember ___?". I hate it so much.) We are probably not getting any more indiana jones sets. Even if the three on shelves do remarkably well- which I haven't seen much on them selling either super well or poorly- I think the best we can hope for after DoD's commercial failure is to get a diorama or D2C every couple years, sort of like LOTR's supposedly getting.
  14. *coughs in Nien Numb* For that matter, *coughs in exogol duel* Exclusive figure in the new visual dictionary. Could be interesting, but we don't have anything to go off of yet. Gonna throw a wild guess out there that it's S3 Greef Karga. The excellent legends book Plagueis goes over this pretty well. Plagueis knows of Maul, and they both intend to simply use him as a weapon, not a true sith, hence his inability to use force lightning or anything of the sort. In the book's finale, I don't think the silhouettes have always been accurate. Plus, these don't tend to have new molds.
  15. Between this, Shazam 2, and Flash it feels like they were being a lot more cautious about film releases in general. Even some of the marvel films haven't gotten many tie-ins recently (quantumania). Ironically, those films all failed commercially and/or critically (though I personally liked shazam 2)
  16. After what I heard about the ending of Indy 5, I'm kinda glad that if we were only getting a few sets, they were based off the original trilogy. Seriously. I mean c'mon! They came so close to what at the very least would have been an incredible end to the character, even if the rest of the movie was mediocre, and they somehow jumped from that to the worst possible end.
  17. Not trying to minimod, but this is really starting to annoy me. Leaked Hera fig looks excellent. Still not super happy about the eyes, but it's not a huge deal IMO, and the rest of the figure looks great!
  18. They advertised it a TON in the states. Everyone knew keaton was back, and it felt like it was every other ad on youtube.
  19. Definately part of it for me, but even after all the stuff Ezra did I was still fine with separating art from artist. What sealed it as a skip for me was A: The fact that they refused to specifically condemn Ezra or at least confirm he wouldn't return and B: one of the leaked cameos that felt especially gross (Not that any of the cameos sound like they were done well, but one of them sounded more gross than just dumb).
  20. There is no set coming based on the flash. You are likely thinking of the 1989 batmobile set with Batman and Joker coming in August, which was likely originally intended to be a flash set but had the figs swapped out either due to the lead actor's crimes or general uncertainty about the film's success. (Warranted uncertainty, apparently.)
  21. Would a mace with new prints be that interesting either? I feel like pretty much any other GR jedi outside Anakin/Obi-Wan/Yoda would be more interesting to slot in the fighter as a third fig.
  22. UPDATE: As part of a separate project (itself part of a THIRD project), I recreated the Optimus Prime figure in stud.io, so I did some renders of him in the trailer, making Convoy: Convoy constructed: The trailer connected to 10302's Optimus Prime. Here's the trailer "transformed" into Optimus's Battle Deck. So, about a year ago, after I built Optimus Prime, I started a G1 bumblebee. I spent hours on it, but in the end I gave up, at least for now. However, after seeing Rise of the Beasts, I was inspired to make a smaller (well, I suppose larger, but less complicated) MOC to go with Optimus: his iconic trailer. The trailer is built as if it was a tie-in to 10302, and as such includes space for all the accessories in that set, and is able to connect to it. It is based off the G1 trailer product, and as such comes with Roller and the repair drone/crane thingie. Now, aside from the Autobot symbol printed tiles, the set only uses existing parts in existing colors. Here we can see Roller (Side note: I love Roller, but... what is it? Is it an autobot? A drone? A vehicle? The original cartoon, of course, is contradictory on that question) pulling the trailer along. Here's the trailer interior, stuffed with all the accessories of the set. Counting Roller and the drone, but not the 10302 accessories, we get a piece count of 1700, a little more than the official Optimus set. I blame the 305 1x2 LBG grille tiles. The trailer "transforms", if you can call it that, into the Battle Deck. As I said, it fits all the accessories, including the energon cube, which can be stored down below in a sort of secret compartment. Here's a good look at Roller and the repair drone. Roller can seat 2 minifigures, since he's inexplicably sometimes a vehicle, and the repair drone has a fair bit of articulation. The last thing I'll show is the trailer with the stands out. Be sure to let me know what you think! I'm pretty happy with how mine turned out. I know there are quite a few MOCS of the trailer, so I wanted to make mine an explicit sort of companion set or expansion to 10302. If people like this, I might try megatron soon. Oh, and here's Black Convoy/Nemesis Prime with trailer, part of that other project:
  23. Couldn't agree more. The bugle is an incredible set, and the batman art set is literally made by Jim Lee. On the other hand, the batcave is overpriced and missing the charm of the bugle's comic inspiration and massive figure selection, and the spider-man art set feels weird and less like art. They should have gotten Mr. Romita Jr to do it.
  24. I dunno, this one doesn't do it for me. Obviously the web pattern can't be put along the entire thing, but having it just on a segment of the face is weird, and something about his positioning just feels off. I'd rather have a spider-man 3-in-1 mosiac like they did for iron man or batman, where you could do, say, his mask, Ben's mask, or Miles's mask with a combiner for a swinging spider-man.
