Once a gain, I want to give points to everyone. Every entry seems to be deserving, even those which at first glance are not that impressive seem to hide inside functionality that puts most official sets in shame. It will be really hard to decide how to distribute the few points I have at my disposal...

I don't think it will work with the normal GBC balls, as they have grooves to represent the segmentation of a soccer- or basketball. Even if they didn't have that, they'd probably have a molding mark, which would interfere with the suction when it happened to face the nozzle. I'm not sure but there might be a difference between programming in code blocks vs. Python. The code blocks seem to have a slight delay when moving from one block to the next.

Black is missing most of the fender pieces, otherwise it would indeed be the most complete colour. Blue, yellow and white are doing pretty good also, but there are gaps.- 5,506 replies

Lime has never been ahead of red, though it's not far behind either. Here's a list, not updated with the Ferrari and other 2H releases of this year: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MdCtQMN_kaaMzyWy_blFLJNzT05f4dCxXS1Nx3DhfDU/edit?usp=sharing- 5,506 replies

42144 - Material Handler
howitzer replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The previous set was 6 years ago, so I wouldn't blame them for releasing similar set too soon. -
About the helicopter: The neon yellow is an annoying distraction but I guess I could replace it with yellow of red. Can't say I love the official colour scheme, and judging from the catalog photo the shaping doesn't remind me of the real thing that much. Still, it's a helicopter with a fancy new 5-blade rotor and probably a dumb hub so I think I'll get it. About the waste handler: Looks nice-ish, I like the alternate coloured pneumatic cylinders, though combining them with yellow ones in MOCs is a bit harder. Apparently there's no short large cylinder, which has been absent for many years now, I'd hoped to see it again. Going to get that one too I think. About the Ferrari: Seems like a great parts pack, and I've never built a supercar so I think I'll buy that one too when I'll get a nice discount. All in all, this year isn't great, but isn't that bad either. Better than last year when only the Tow truck was something really good (I also bought the excavator and the hovercraft but those didn't get me nearly as excited.)

There are third party options which allow you to use motors even if the apps support stops. There's also some options to control the motors without an app, but that requires some tinkering. For simple, dumb movement without speed control or any automation, PF is definitely better, but as it's discontinued, I wouldn't go and buy PF parts anymore unless I already had some significant amount of them.- 5,506 replies

For me the greatest value of B&P was the easy availability of recent parts for an affordable price. Without those there's little reason to order from TLG rather than Bricklink.- 5,506 replies

[TC22] Printer for buildings
howitzer replied to howitzer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks! The outriggers came out surprisingly nicely. The only problem is that due to the wormgear they are slightly out of phase, so they don't move identically together, but it's not a big enough difference to matter really. -

The book appears to be pretty high quality (hardcover, bound-back, printed on a premium quality paper etc.) so I bet they cost double-digit euros per book just to manufacture. Then they'll have to add costs of designing it, transport & storage, marketing, probably licensing fee, taxes etc. and still make some profit. I'm not saying it's not overpriced, but I don't think they could ever sell those for 20€/piece profitably. Costs is 100€ here btw., which is way more than I'd be interested in paying for such a book, even if I was a Ferrari fan. My guess about the limited edition thing is that there's going to be the 5000 piece numbered set of slipcase-copies, and in addition there'll be unlimited amount of non-slipcase unnumbered copies after the first 5000 is sold the reviewers getting unnumbered copies.

Nice! Very different kind of machine there though.
