I really loved the Batman contest and seeing all of the entries for it. Some really inspired stuff. Because of that I searched the web looking for more stuff and came across a multitude of Arkham themed MOC's and Batcave themed MOC's. I originally thought I would tackle the Batcave as my first MOC, but realized that the sets I had were more suited to Arkham instead. Arkham is a much a better set to showcase villains and heroes. I was most inspired BeKindRewind's Arkham, so I wanted to give credit where credit is due. I took cues from his setup and expanded on them, most noticeably his fence and the use of the Clayface fig. I believe the only official villain I'm missing is Killer Croc (who does have a cell in the lower left) but he's too expensive, so I'm hoping for a reissue down the line in the Super Heroes sets. I was going to theme their individual cells but opted to leave them basic and dingy. I liked the existing Arkham set as a basis and then expanded on it with two of the forge buildings from Medieval Market Village stacked on top of each other. I also wanted the cells to be visible so I turned them facing the interior. The MOC is very busy but I wanted to show a chaotic battle at the Asylum. Like I said, this is my first MOC so I learned some things with it, most notably, it's much more stable if you build from the ground up instead of planting pre-built structures into it. I hope you guys enjoy and seriously, thanks to BeKindRewind for the inspiration.

MOC: Incredible Hulk #181 Cover (Wolverine vs. The Hulk)
moop replied to moop's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks for all of the kind words everybody. As far as that clear piece it's this one, http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=42445. Hope that helps. -
Now that we have some official minifigs that look pretty awesome, I of course wanted to tackle the famous cover that has the introduction of Wolverine and his fight against the Hulk. This is only my second attempt at a MOC (the first is an Arkham Asylum I'll be posting in a few days) and I'm still testing my new light tent out so the pics aren't the best and the build quality may not be up to snuff when compared to some of the stand-out stuff I see on here, but I hope you enjoy it. I'm particularly proud at the attempt at perspective when it comes to the tree line and mountains that I was able to pull off. Now all I need is a licensed Wendigo to make it 100% legit. Enjoy! "The Dark Ages" - How long were you away from Lego?
moop replied to Duck's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I had a dark period of starting at about the late 80's and just recently took the plunge so about 20 years. I'm all in now and have just finished my first two mocs, one large and one medium. -
That is epic and daunting. Unfortunately, I have minimal MOC experience so I cam;t really answer any of your questions but wish you luck. I will say that you should be decisive in what you want to make and asking for consensus on something may be expecting too much. Like I said though, good luck and I hope to see progress kept up with this thread.

This is one of the things that stuck out for me as well. It's amazing how a little detail like that breaths life into a MOC. The whole thing is outstanding.

Hawkeye is as minor of a character as Nick Fury if the original statement is read. I am commenting on that. I don't agree with any assertion that a character isn't important but am in fact pointing out the absurdity of labeling a discussion about Lego Super Heroes as inadequate because a handful of people are dissatisfied with the discussion. Unless you are a mod, your job isn't to dictate what we can and want to talk about. The hubris is outstanding, but carry on...

Not really and that still doesn't explain Hawkeye and Black Widow who are two minor characters in the exact same vein as Nick Fury and are not "headline acts" or main characters. Also, Nick Fury looks really administrative in that movie poster with his gun out. Still a poor excuse for trying to quash discussion of a Nick Fury minifig in a thread dedicated to discussion that is just that.
-
So what are Black Widow and Hawkeye? Main characters, or headline acts as you said, by that rationale.

I decided to just keep the minifigs and sell off the sets and extra figs I don't want or need. So I definitely get the idea of selling off stuff.

I just picked my set up and I gotta say it is spectacular! Of course Wolvie masked would've been stellar and the only true complaint I have is that the motorcycle is sort of plain. They should've used the fairing from the Indy set http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=85983pb01 , otherwise just an amazing little set.

gahhhh! I went to my local Lego store with the intention of just getting the Wolverine Chopper set and of course walked out with all but the Quinjet instead.

My Target showed in Stock but they weren;t even in their system with the DPCI when I went to get them.

New to Lego...Let me throw this out there.

They display great and the build is fun. Also, when we have parties, everybody is inevitably drawn to them and likes to play with them. It's just instinctual. -
Got another high priced lot ($500 for about 90lbs.). It was loaded though with Star Wars, Batman, etc. The woman who sold it also kept all of the instructions organized in file folders as well. They seem to be complete for the most part. My fingers are raw from disassembling and organizing but that's the fun part before attempting to build all of them. Also picked up a mini Star Destroyer in the bubble packaging brand new for $4 at a flea market.

So, I recently got a huge lot of Lego pieces. I noticed that there were quite a few of this piece in the lot. Does anyone know the name of it or maybe what sets besides the Death Star that it may be from? http://www.pophate.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Screen-Shot-2012-03-11-at-8.24.26-PM.png I guess I can't post images so here's the link to the image -
Just dropped $500 on a 50+ lb lot of pieces and figs. They are already bagged and separated, but I'm still going to go through them to clean and sort. I think they are mostly complete sets like Arkham Asylum, Mos Eisley, etc... This is the biggest lot I've ever gotten but the resale value is enormous I'm thinking.

It's funny because I just bought it on eBay at the inflated $60 price and then I walked into my Toys R Us yesterday and saw 4 of them sitting on the shelf for $49.99 each. Too bad it wasn;t during the sale. Also, I noticed that my minifigs do not have any of the printing errors that seemed to be plaguing early versions.
