Good point. Since HF sets from last year tend to match the weight of this year's Chima sets, I'm also inclined to say it's due to cost-cutting - Chima and Superheroes sets are/were all more expensive than matching-size HF sets. My concern is thus raised on MOCing and stability - although I think normal bones are sturdy enough, this just leaves me wonder if my modded sets are gonna be in a good shape in the future as well. Since I don't own any medium-sized Breakout sets, any comments on Bulk or Furno regarding stability would be appreciated. I guess this and all of the aforementioned factors were put into consideration in the design process. Thanks for the replies!

Had no idea, thanks for the info. I admit, Batman also had wings, Iron Man had a gatling gun and Hulk were just plain large - it makes sense.

I'm unsure because larger HF sets like Breakout Breez, Furno & Bulk/Brain Attack Surge & Stormer still don't use them although they're also weapon- and part-heavy and are roughly the same size as the Chima models. It's also true that Superheroes sets also saw an implementation of friction joints which makes it all the more interesting. And if it makes a difference, why not use them in larger (but not XL-sized) HF sets as well? Btw what do you mean by co-injection? Are these parts moulded differently?
-
Lame question for experts: why do all of these sets use friction joints where in comparison only the XL-sized HF sets do the same? Are these sets considerably heavier because of the weapons/armor/back coverage? Could they not use simply longer bone pieces?
-
Nope, it's printed - it has the same as motif as Furno XL in tr. light blue.
-
Maybe it's just me, but it appears as Aquagon uses bright light orange and trans. medium blue, Evo yellow and trans. light blue, Stormer trans. medium blue like Aquagon (and probably gunmetal grey) while Frost Beast trans. light blue like Evo. EDIT: Nope, Stormer uses trans. light blue, too.

The quasi-leader is Worriz, see the description on the website.

Maybe skunks and foxes are in the same tribe? The helmet designs were exclusive to each one so far.
-
Don't think so, I've always guessed these are the final ones as seen in the video promotion, too. They're somewhat more pleasing and well-balanced appearance-wise than the ones in the confidential image.

Nice part use(age).

I don't like to speculate about blurry color mashes, but the set above the bottles seems to be anything but Evo. Where's the mainly yellow color scheme seen in the TV trailer? Maybe that's actually Aquagon and Evo is behind the bottles after all...
-
Dunno, but it seems to me as if Stormer was going to be size XL just like Furno (with the other heroes being small-sized and the villains being medium-sized sets just like in the winter wave).

Purely set-wise: Antroz, Chirox, Brutaka, Maxilos, Vorox, Malum, Tuma and Mata Nui.

One of my first thoughts about this line was that how well they can be used with the Ninjago serpentine vehicles (e. g. Fangpyre Truck, Rattlecopter) - thus there could be another tribe with snakes. A clever move from LEGO.

Here and here are the two new books with Furno's and Bulk's heads on their covers.

Like you mentioned: one ridge closer to the end of the headpiece (like the Golden Dragon compared to the Earth one).
-
If you place it backwards like the Golden Dragon, it just feels weird. That's why I thought the Earth Dragon head was aesthetically better. I have to admit, the actual piece looks better than the official art because of the reasons you pointed out. What really bothers me on the Golden Dragon that the eyes are too large and too cartoonish in appearance. Maybe they will be less obtrusive in the actual set like the Ultra one.
-
I just don't understand why the golden dragon's eyes are printed on the place they are now. This way they're out of proportion compared to the head as a whole (same with the Ultra Dragon). Why did they depart from the Earth Dragon in that regard?
-
Well, I'm suprised how different this wave feels compared to the previous ones. (Although I have to admit, it shouldn't be a surprise as, apart from the Breakout year, every wave had a different approach aesthetics-wise.). Sadly, it just doesn't work for me - the sets feel uninspired and strained. There are a few nice new pieces and recolors, though, especially the new fire/flame motif.
-
Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the fact the sticker sheets are different than the patterns seen on TV. The CGI Stormer XL has so much more fabulous details in that regard...

New York Toy Fair Coverage Part One: Hero Factory
wghost replied to Aanchir's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I think the outer side of Stormer's legs (where the 2.0 torsos are) and his left thigh armor have a pattern as well, if I'm not mistaken (I've tried to find a good pic of the legs but no success so far). Anyway, thanks for the thread!
