some of my old instructions (from sets I got as a child) are missing this "coupon"... but I can't remember a thing...!
-
nice review! when I look a little to the left of my screen I can spot 3 6851 sitting on my shelf. I also hope that you opened the box with "hyperbolic style". I love that.

the star marked new products. they weren't available before '93.
-
great job! I really enjoyed the fourth last panel (with the Duplo whale...!) spoiler, concerning the aliens:
-
thanks for raising that question! I wondered about that too since 1993... but I can't remember any contest or sweepstakes (is this the right word?)
-
I think they took them down while I downloaded them. So I only got the second part... But I believe the will reappear soon.

I got it as a gift from my parents ~15 years ago. But I don't have a camera right now. Be patient, maybe in a week or two I'd like to make one.

(I think there are some unwritten rules for fleshies? licensed LEGO: fleshies: okay. looks more realistic. classic LEGO: yellow: okay. looks like always. customized: whatever you want. MOCs: whatever you want so there's no point in burning the fleshie. Just wanted to say that.) Anyway: great job! You must have a very calm hand! Did you take the minifig apart for the painting process?
-
thanks for the review! about the minifig torso: I never saw that decal (the two stars) before, does it appear in other sets too?

I just recognized that today is my first anniversary on EB. I visit this forum daily (if possible) but don't feel like posting that much. You might already know that I'm a Technic-freak and in love with LEGO sets from the eighties and nineties. I've done a few reviews on EB: 8848, 8854, 8858, 8829, M:Tron, 8862, 8460 and Space-Police. After this shameless act of self-promotion I'd like to add that I feel like being (a silent) part of this community and want to thank every one for helping / sponsoring / correcting / confirming me or opening my eyes.

great idea, making reviews in the EB News style!

REVIEW: 1808 Light Aircraft & Ground Support
BerndDasBrot replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Town
wooo. it's really beautiful! In fact I didn't know about this set. LEGO sets like this one remind me at my childhood. And I think you should already know it: I love moments like this... so:   () thanks! -

okay. one thing I'd also like to point (after I saw the whole gallery): do you want to change the Technic Axle 2L with those two half bushes (I don't know how to call it right now- I mean the part where you put your hands on... ) into a half pin? -
nice review! thanks! I always wanted the 6514 for the minifig. In Austria there's been some kind of contest, in which you had to search this minifig in different catalogue-panorama-pics. (Can't remember that much, though...) I finally got it 10 years later on bricklink...

Okay, so I felt bored and decided to built the 8485 Technic Control Center II in MLCad. Unfortunately I don't own the 8485 in real life - but I search ebay recurrently. I spent yesterday building the helicopter with its control base and today with sorting the pieces and "converting" them into a nice Multipart-file. I made two renders: (not more, because my computer was -erm... fatally injured? no. just a little- ...way too slow.) the "640-thumbs" are linked to "1280-renders"! I said "review" in the topic description but it's (kinda) hard if you've got only a Cad-model. Well, I'll try. #1 tilting forward / back: You can see the gearbox with the 24-tooth-gear and the worm screw in the middle of the helicopter. The motor is located under the helicopter. It's possible to tilt the helicopter for about +/-15 degrees. #2 tilting sideways: There's a "little" frame (made out of technic bricks) mounted to the gearbox. (you can see that in the last pic above) The motor is located in the "cockpit" of the helicopter and tries to tilt this frame. It can't move sideways so the helicopter does. D'oh! Again it's possible to tilt the helicopter for about +/-15 degrees. #3 moving up/down: I didn't know that this is possible! Just depress the Control Centre. FUN-FACT: it won't work if you cry at the same time...! It's possible to lift the helicopter for about 13 bricks or 16 studs or 12,54cm. #4 rotor and propellor: What? A helicopter with "untwistable" rotor/propellor?!? 'nuff said. It's possible to twist the rotor/propellor for more than +/-360 degrees. I hope you enjoyed the two renders and now know more about the "playability"/functionality! I have to get this set in any case and put it to my "shelf of fame"! Maybe someone else also wants to share some photos/videos of his/hers 8485?

looks great! wonderful symbiosis of Technic and System. (I only wondered why you didn't keep the number "7"...?) -
yeah Magnetica was absolutely awesome!

thanks for another great review. I can remember the 6358 very vividly. My parents bought the 6340 for me and a girl friend got the 6358. I'm quiet sure it's my envy because until now I want to believe that the 6340 is better. My reasons were these: I own the 6340 (and on the instructions of the 6358 stood "LEGOLAND" which I thought of as old.) But this review induced me to get over this humiliation from my childhood ( ) and check ebay for the 6358.

Do the Classic Space uniform colors mean anything?
BerndDasBrot replied to KDog's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
interessting observation. I never thought of that. the chronological order was: yellow, red, white, black, blue. is this true? I rebuilt my classic space sets a few weeks ago and paid attention to the right space uniform color for each set, but I can't tell any commonalities. But I'm looking forward to any knowledge you'll gain! -
thanks for your feedback. My starting pic was the background from 6399 which is a very big set and so they nearly did without any blur. unfortunately there's also a lot of lost information for 6399 blankets the background. I'm looking forward to see some of your LEGO-style backgrounds!

is this what you're searching for? unfortunately the pic is too big for embedding. I made it today in a hurry. Mabey there're more to come.

</german_language_mode>

maybe a TFOL... it is our "destiny" to show them that LEGO existed before 1997 and was -IMHO- way better than today. we need more classic reviews. I hope I can continue with technic sets.
