great review! I also own this set (and also without stickers) and I'm kind of astonished that TLG made special car bases (even back in the seventies) where normal pieces could have been used.

Review: 3055 Adventurers car
BerndDasBrot replied to The Cobra's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
nice review! and btw: everyone should be able to recognize this as a time-machine...! -
and thanks again! @ simonwillems: under two hours...? As a child it took me five to seven hours. Don't know how long it would take me now, but I'd say... three. If everythings presorted. @ Blakbird: "Anyone who votes anything other than "outstanding" in the poll is probably not qualified to participate in this forum." @ Sinner: reverse gear would have been a nice addition, but you could only see it in the "engine-movement". @ Tenorikuma: thanks! @ 5150 Lego: "Back when lego catologs had true action shots of the sets" I loved those pics/dioramas...! Sets standing on a LEGO-built-robo-platform, or being held by a LEGO-built-robo-arm... @ CP5670: "Another interesting project would be to try motorizing this model." I can remember I tried to do that several times, but my motor wasn't strong enough. I took out the V8-engine but still it didn't work. Before I tried to take out the gear box I decided on "giving up". Do you like the suspension of the 4x4 Off Roader better? @ the next true supercar: looks really promising...!

thanks for the poll! I can remember that my dad said that he believes my 8880 will take no damage if he drops it to the ground from one metre height. I just said: "no." something I totally forgot in my review: a first aid guide! because there are two things which will "always" break if you play with your 8880: the steering: 5 pics starts with this picture and the chain links: also 5 pics, starts with this picture If you own the 8880 already as child, you'll know what I mean!

thanks for your reply! Rereleasing this set would be a little bit difficult, for I've heard that the production/molding of a Technic Brick is more difficult than a Technic Beam we use nowadays. There are also a lot of other parts TLG produces anymore today. btw: feel free to use some pics as wallpapers, if you want.

hi, baaack to business... I promised it and you'll get it. In fact- here, have it. my all-time-favorite-LEGO-set: #1 useless information with high numbers: This set contains 1343 parts and was released in 1994 in the TECHNIC theme. The average price on Bricklink is 222,52USD or 488,78USD if you want it new. It weights 2625 grams and the box measures 52.5cm x 38cm x 9.5cm. Thank Bricklink for that information! #2 the box: Front: Back: Open: I don’t know many boxes that open like that: Just fold out the brackets and lift the top. #3 building instructions: They’re also special: You don’t need to search trough the 92 pages. Just flip the booklet and you can build the alternate model. Random page: “old-school-technic-style”. And a little bit difficult to follow. Note: compared with the 8880s building instructions, all the newer instructions are really <insert that tiresome argument>. They even made a scheme with a 90° angle… There are some high-quality-pictures in the middle, where the two instructions meet. Also a very nice feature. This time I couldn’t make a #4 the parts: and #5 building: section. sorry. #6 functionality of the main model: steering, trunk, hidden headlamps: the mechanism for the steering (red) and the headlamps (green) V8-engine and suspension: four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering: 4 speed gear shift (?) no reverse: highly comfortable seats: #7 functionality of the alternate model: suspension: steering: 2 speed gear shift: V8-engine: for more information: visit technicopedia! #8 random shots of the main model: (feel free to ask for a 3264x2448px-version of this picture:) #9 random shots of the alternate model: (feel free to ask for a 3264x2448px-version of this picture:) #10 somewhat artistic shots: #11 high quality pictures from TLG: I scanned and edited them a little bit. 320px-pic here linked to a 1024px-pic on brickshelf. #12 final thoughts: I got this really-freaking-great set with 10 years and two others later from ebay - but I still know which of these three is the one from my childhood. It’s way(s) better than all the former supercars (even if some functions are missing), because it was the “first” technic set that combined size, functionality and appearance. (Okay, I don’t want to make exceptions here, because there are also other great sets. but I love this one! ) If you get a chance to get yourself a 8880, take it. build it. hug it. So. I'm calling it a day and just want to point out two things: take a look at My Massive Collection Of 8880s and my 8880 brickshelf folder, where I got a lot more photos than here (when public, of course) Thanks for reading/watching and feel free to comment!

Woah, hey, keep your voice down! I will enter "officially" then. So I have enough time to review some sets/themes I've promised but didn't do so far. yeah I have a excel sheet with all the information I need for showing-off... thanks for your replies!

I think I will/can enter in October. And maybe I will start with my childhood sets. personal reviews... this room is for making/recording music and everytime I have to record MIDI-data or export something (which can take some time) I look though the shelfs and pick a few models swosh them around and brush them. You already gave us a little insight with your great comparsions... :skull:

Thanks! I even bought some roadplates... but I totally lack space... and I don't want to infest another room. hmmm... I won't tell you where I live. but honestly. It would attract attention if a stranger would stand behind this window. Nobody wants to get lost where I'm living... (sadly I'm not really joking.)

hi, today I finally took some pictures from my new shelf with my classic town sets. Another room has been infested with my collection... the shelf was really cheap and the mounting easy. It measures only 18cm which is perfect for a lot of small sets. 480px-pics for the forum linked to 1024px-pics for brickshelf. complete shelf: race and "people-with-a-normal-life" shelf: construction and preserval shelf: rescue and police shelf: yeah, I finally got them! moving all these sets from their original dust-receiving-place made more space for my classic space stuff: now, no more sets have to stand on the floor: (except for my black seas barracuda which until now always has been hit by the door or careless people... ) thanks for watching!

thanks for your replies! today I made one of the three alternate models which is the real star of this set. hear me roar. the dinosaur was quiet a challenge but I enjoyed it. the most diffucult part was the legs. even though I made 6 multipart pieces per leg, I still had to use "trial and error". I ignored the flex-cables, for I don't know how to bend them. If I should need them I'll photoshop it. don't forget: 640px teaser here, linked to a 1280px pic on brickshelf. Enjoy! QUICK EDIT: spelling. END OF POST

The Eurobricks Reviewers Academy
BerndDasBrot replied to Bonaparte's topic in Forum Information and Help
(disclaimer: I haven't been able to read through all 5 pages because I have not that much time right now) This is a really great idea! I've been enjoying reviews since I'm registered here and I'm looking forward to read / see more. But right now I don't really know if I should join. I'm interested and I'll let you know. (maybe this autumn) It seems that there are not so many technic-freaks here, but maybe I / time can change something. -
i prefer space police II. IMHO SPI is as good as SPII, but I (nearly) don't have any SPI sets. EDIT: and of course: I love the SPII color theme.

I never thought of that!

yay! I've really waited for the ghost ship to reappear!

The Brick Testament - God Wreaks Havoc
BerndDasBrot replied to Brendan Powell Smith's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
i wout - sry would - say they're yellow. you have to compare them to the minifig heads. flowers are only available in Blue, BtPurple, DkPink, Magenta, Pink, Red, White and Yellow concerning the Brick Testament: you really know how to stage the stories. -
somehow I think nirvana is too cliche. they wrote some real "classic" songs (i learnt to play the guitar with smells like teen spirit) but somehow the fire is gone...

I'll use this topic: Coincidence? later: It seems like we now know the reason for the closing of the 6350 pizza to go... and why pizza-paul had to wait 8 years before he could open it again with the name "10036 Legends: Pizza To Go". His. pizza. was. not. good.
