New update for the Quake Mech: The Quake Mech has also helped me figure out areas of the Fire Mech. -

I have finally found a way to land onto the Quake Mech in the Video Game. Because It is modeled after the one in the movie, I finally have something to build from. Some of the most challenging areas to build are now easy to make. Internal structure of the hands (incomplete) : Shoulder pad attachment to arm: -

@zweifuss No problem. There is going to be much more coming. I fixed an inaccuracy with the Lightning Jet. The parts that attach the dome are supposed to be two 44567 plates, not a 44568. I got news relating to the Quake Mech. In the game, I have figured out how to get a rear view of the mech, but it doesn't really help giving a good view of the internal structures I need to build. I wonder if there is any way I can get a closer view of the Quake Mech? -

@legozebra You are welcome, and good luck building. @Boettner Builds I am glad you are enjoy my progress, and I am happy you are building the mechs out of real bricks too. The Lightning Jet is now completed. I haven't decided to add in the 14301 hoses as they disappear and reappear in the movie, but you can add them in if you want. There is a new update for the Water Strider. Inaccuracies have been spotted in the legs. Now they appear as they do in the movie. The Mecha Crab, Shark Boat, and Piranha have all been updated due to Video Game close ups. All of the LXF files are here. Since the Lightning Jet is complete, there are only 3 more of the ninjas' mechs to build: the Fire Mech (already started), Quake Mech, and Ice Tank. -

@legozebra Glad you are intending to build both the Fire Mech and the Lighting Jet out of real bricks. However, both mechs have floating pieces, which means modifications will need to be done to build them in real life. I just got the LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game in order to update the Lightning Jet, and to build Garmadon's Shark Mech and the Quake Mech. Upon closer inspection of parts of the Lightning Jet in Ninjago City Docks, I noticed inaccuracies in the replica that I built. I did all changes necessary to make it more accurate. It helped me a lot, and it should be more movie accurate now. -

No new updates at the moment, but I thought it would be interesting to do comparisons between the movie mechs and their set counterparts. The movie version of the Green Ninja Mech Dragon measures at 49.7 in (121.6 cm) in length, whereas the set version only measures at 23 in (60 cm). The Lightning Jet is larger than the set, mainly because of the wings and engines. One of the most noticeable differences between the Water Strider in the movie and the set version is the color of them, with the one from the movie being Titanium Metallic and the set version being Black. I get why the set version isn't Titanium Metallic, because for LEGO it will be costly to mold a lot of parts into that color. When I get finished with the Fire Mech, I'll do a comparison on it. -

@zweifuss The legs do indeed articulate in the knees like how they do in the movie. As for the set version having no knee articulation, the reason behind that is so it will not be unbalanced. If you add knee articulation to the legs, the mech will be a little prone to falling over. This is also the same reason why the set version of the Garma Mecha Man doesn't have knee articulation either. Stability is important to LEGO when it comes to the official sets. -

@Boettner Builds You're welcome. I have finally figured out all the Technic parts behind the leg. It took a long time, but the right leg is finished. If there is anything I need to change, I will update it. There are a few parts in the foot and the leg that can't be added and attached due to collision detection. -

Some more progress for the Fire Mech. Right leg: The Technic parts behind the leg are hard to figure out. Left arm: I have managed to attach the arm to the shoulder. Now I just need to figure out how to attach the rest of the shoulder armor. -

@zweifuss I like the movie just for the mech designs too. It has some of the best looking mechs in the franchise. Another new update for the Green Ninja Mech Dragon: The engines are now the way they are in the movie. Download Link Unfortunately, there has not been any progress of the Fire Mech due to the complexity of the model, but there will be more soon. -

@zweifuss I hope that one day LEGO would release instructions for the on-screen models, but I don't think that will ever happen. Someone at /r/lego in Reddit tried inquiring instructions for the full-sized Green Ninja Mech Dragon. This was LEGO's response: It is interesting, but a little disappointing at the same time. When I first read this, it was time for me to build my own replica of the one from the movie. The screen accurate models can be built in real-life, but there are issues you will run into. For example, certain parts appearing in colors they're not molded in, non-existent parts, which include the resized 23798 tire used for the Quake Mech, and the jaw and snout pieces used for the movie version dragon mech. Also, the models can be heavy, like what you mentioned with the dragon mech's neck. The last problem is that it will not be sturdy enough. So, you will need to modify the design. -

@zweifuss It is possible to extract models from the game, but I think it would be a violation of the game's EULA. The only other alternative is to get permission from the creators of the models at TT Fusion to view the meshes. @legozebra There is going to be some more Sand Green parts in the upcoming LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part D2C set, with 47759 appearing in Sand Green, though not all of the part designs appearing in Sand Green in the set are used on the mech. Another update has been done to the Green Ninja Mech Dragon. Updated version here More work has been done to the Fire Mech, but I'm not entirely sure if the Technic structure for inside the leg is correct though. -

@J4ck I do examine each frame to get the details right. It may be a little difficult, but if I have high definition footage and good angles, I can easily identify parts and the way they attach. -

@J4ck You're welcome. I think it's about time to release the Water Strider. https://bricksafe.com/pages/GLAP23/lego-ninjago-movie-ninja-mechs I have figured out most of the structure of the shoulders of the Fire Mech. Only one has been worked on so far. -

@J4ck LDD does have a feature that allows you to take screenshots. Under "Tool Box" look for "Take a screenshot". @Dardanel In Ninjago City Docks, you can see parts of the Lightning Jet laying around, but I need this particular area: I will need pictures of the sides, the back, the pieces behind the seat, and underneath where the landing gear attaches. As for the Quake Mech, in Chapter 5 - The Ultimate Weapon, try to get close-ups of the Quake Mech when you have to pull Cole out of the stuck canopy. It's definitely the one from the movie. Thanks. -

@J4ck I took screenshots via LDD, but I will do renders for finalized designs. I am just about done with the Water Strider. The back is just about finished: If anyone has anymore references other than the movie to build these mechs, that would be great. The movie models of Garmadon's Shark Mech, Jay's Lightning Jet, and Cole's Quake Mech appear in the videogame. Screenshots of the mechs that I've mentioned from the game are good references. -

@Dardanel I did build other stuff from the movie, but I'm planning on saving all of that for later after I finish the mechs. @KaiNinjaOfFire Thank you. I have updated the Flying Jelly Sub once again. I have also found out there is another type of Flying Jelly Sub. It is a little different compared the type we see mostly in the movie. The only scene this type appears in is one part of the first 'Heroes' scene when Cole smashes some with his mech. This version is most likely an earlier design before changes were made to it. Here's a comparison: Earlier Design: Final Design: -

@Scarilian The Fire Mech is on my to-do list. As a matter of fact, I already started on it, but only the arms are finished. I still need to figure out how they attach to the shoulders.
