Ninjago Movie Screen-Accurate Mech Recreations
GLAP23 replied to GLAP23's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I have been busy building the Garma Mecha Man's left leg. It will take another few days to get it completed. The model is red because I'm building the structure first before I color it. It's not possible to make a perfectly accurate model without seeing every part, so I'm doing as best as I can to build with all the references and resources available. -

@Matteo Nottoli The change has been made. I'll be waiting to see your progress. This is going to be big. -

The two upper pistons connect to the connector pegs on the outer side of the legs. The two lower pistons connect to the black connector pegs behind the blue ones. The mouth does open. I just kept it closed when I attached the jaw. The head is connected by two 1x4 plates in two of the 93606 on both sides. If it's not sturdy enough, you could try replacing them with longer plates. There are 6 pieces on top of the first tail segment that are not attached. These parts are on the sides of the top connection to the main body. Unfortunately, I still haven't found a solution to attach them. The parts inside the eyes are also floating, though I believe the domes will keep those in place. One 1x2 plate inside the opening of the hatch area. One half bush on one of the Technic flex joints. I forgot to mention I have made a slight error in the modifed LXF. The platform inside the mech was not attached. This will call for two 2x2 plates and a 2x4 plate. This change has now been made into the LXF file. The parts attaching the head mentioned above may be a problem if they are not sturdy enough, but other than that, everything seems to be sturdy. -

@mr4543r Maybe you can publish it on your Bricksafe page, but anyway, thank you. -

@Thedoctorwedwhistle You're welcome. @mr4543r I am now requesting permission to modify your Garma Mecha Man because I have built more of the Garma Mecha Man than I did for the Ice Tank. Here is almost everything I built: I did say before that I would finish the Garma Mecha Man last, but I just want to get it done and out of the way. It is one of the best mechs that has appeared in Ninjago related media. -

@Thedoctorwedwhistle Click on free build (paper with a green plus) with Digital Designer Extended. Once when the build area is opened, click developer and click "Toggle Physics Test" to turn off collision detection. Then, click file and import model. I hope this will help. -

@mr4543r Thank you very much, mr4543r. These will definitely save me time for sure, as there would be less to build. I already have Lego Digital Designer on developer mode, so missing parts shouldn't be a problem. -

@Thedoctorwedwhistle Yes. He has built all of them. I never knew somebody would build the movie versions of the Destiny's Bounty, Ice Tank, or the Garma Mecha Man from the movie before I did. -

@Thedoctorwedwhistle Mr4543r has done a lot more work on the Ice Tank and the Garma Mecha Man than I ever had. I can add some my own details and modifications to his models to make them more accurate, but only with permission. Or I'll just go the other route and make my own versions. @Mrlikesninjagomoviethings Good work with the beer skiff! @mr4543r I have seen your Bricksafe page, and I'm happy with the amount of progress you made. Can you post more images of the Garma Mecha Man? I hope to see everything you have built for the mech so far. -

@legoman23 If you are referring to the club/staff the mech is seen holding in the poster, I will possibly build it, as it does look cool. @mr4543r To make taking screenshots in Lego Digital Designer easier, under toolbox, click "Take a screenshot." Here are the controls for the Garma Mecha Man. -

@Matteo Nottoli I am just as excited as you are. This mech will certainly look great with your collection of other shark army vehicles and tower over the set version. Good luck building. Here is the right arm of the Garma Mecha Man. Some things still need to be added or changed before it's completed. -

I have built some of the parts surrounding the head. This mech may not be as hard to build than I thought initially. -

@Matteo Nottoli The ammo chain will be the same as in the movie, with holder plates on both ends, inside the cannon and the bottom of the tank. @mr4543r Here is what else I have built so far for the Garma Mecha Man. -

@Mockitty I pay attention to the details by examining each frame in the movie. Not only do I use the movie, but I also use promotional material, Making of the Movie book, and the Video Game. @legoman23 and @Mrlikesninjagomoviethings Nice creations! The left arm of the Garma Mecha Man is almost finished. Over 600 bricks make up the arm as of now. I just need to add the sides and more details to the cannon and it will be done. -

@Thedoctorwedwhistle You are very welcome. @legoman23 I have been considering creating the chair for quite some time now. Maybe I will build it sometime later. Work on the shark cannon has started. Here is some information I know about the Garma Mecha Man: Some of the parts inside of the Garma Mecha Man are more apparent in the short Shark E. Shark: Which way to the ocean? The head is attached by a ball-and-socket joint. The joint can be seen in the promotional material: Please put on your 3D Glasses There are 8132 pieces that make up the model. -

@Thedoctorwedwhistle If you are using Lego Digital Designer and there are missing pieces, you most like have version 4.3.12. That version is broken. You can always try installing version 4.3.11 or importing the models into Stud.io. @mr4543r The Destiny's Bounty you built just wows me. I have been impressed with everything you have built. Now that most of the left arm of the Garma Mecha Man has been built, I think it's a good time to build the shark cannon, one of the more difficult areas. I did build the right arm, but I have only built a part of it, plus the hand. The upper part of the arm is still a work in progress. -

@mr4543r Thank you for showing us your recreations of the Ice Tank and Garma Mecha Man. I'm really surprised what you have created in a short amount of time, especially only using what was available at the time as reference to build these models. These are another step forward to completing all the mechs from the movie. My progress with the Garma Mecha Man has been slow, considering how complex it is compared to the other mechs. I did, however, build some areas such as the left arm. The shark cannon is incomplete, though. -

@Mockitty No problem at all. Just saying that even though I reconstructed these models using the film, the people who made the original designs are the designers from Animal Logic and LEGO, the people behind the movie, and because of that, I don't want to sell anything. I have seen the movie outtakes with the Garma Mecha Man. I'm getting a 4K Blu-Ray to help me see more of the details, which also has the outtakes. @Thedoctorwedwhistle It looks very nice. I plan to build my own using the video game soon. -

@Matteo Nottoli I now just made an LXF with the modifications. As for parts not existing in sand blue, I imported the model into Studio 2.0, and I counted over 20 different part designs that aren't available in sand blue. Light Bluish Grey/Medium Stone Grey is a good substitute color and maybe other colors for parts not available in Light Bluish Grey. @Mockitty Thank You. However, I have no plans on selling anytime soon, especially the fact that the true people who should be credited are the designers at Animal Logic and LEGO, who designed these awesome models in the first place. Everything will remain free. @Mrlikesninjagomoviethings That truck looks great! Can't wait to see it with stickers. -

@Matteo Nottoli First, the Technic paneling on the sides of the tail will need to be modified. The beams with the stud connector pegs don't attach. Replacing cross axles and adding this part or this will certainly help. Here's a pictures for example: The highest 45705 at the opening on the top of the head is floating. Part 42022 can attach to it. In the tail, the tank is floating. This can be fixed by adding 1x3 plates underneath its base. The dome covering eyes aren't attached to the rest of the eye. In order to fix this, replace the 11833 and the 2x2 round plate with a 4x4 round plate The fins need modifications too. After doing all of these modifications, I believe everything will attach. -

@Thedoctorwedwhistle That's good to hear. Good Luck. It's such a disappointment Lego never released this particular vehicle as a set, given its importance in the movie. Sorry about the delay, but the Shark Mech has now been released. Just like the other models though, it will need modifications in order to be built out of real bricks. Download here Due to the Shark Mech being finished, it means only two more vehicles will need to be built: Zane's Tank and Garmadon's second mech, the Garma Mecha Man. -

@Matteo Nottoli The models that I have built in real life are the Manta Ray Bomber, Flying Jelly Sub, and the Piranha. I do have the small crab mech, but it is still in its set form. @Ninjago_fan2123 In regards to the Lightning Jet's missing pieces, the lightning jet actually has areas that don't connect in the movie. Look more closely at some of the close up shots of the lightning jet and you will see, but I can make a modified version with attached areas if you want. The Destiny's Bounty will be a challenge to build along with the Garma Mecha Man, but with enough reference material and high resolution or high definition footage of the movie, it will be much easier to figure out and build details. Anyway, good work on your dragon mechs @blue72 and @Ninjago_fan2123. I plan to release Garmadon's Shark Mech sometime this week since I'm just about done building it. -

@Matteo Nottoli The linear actuators/pistons that are connected to the ankles attach to a cross axle just below the knee joint. Here is a closer look. I am not sure if the mech will be able to stand on its legs, but the linear actuators/pistons and leg joints can possibly keep the legs stable. -

For those who are wondering how the legs and linear actuators/pistons attach: Here is another set size comparison, but with the Fire Mech this time.
