  1. Congratulations Yatkuu. You deserve to have this happen, your build was brilliant and I can't wait to see what happens next.
  2. Very cool and clever, and I agree instantly recognisable (except the last one, I had never heard of Lucky Luke).
  3. I know, it was sitting above a $33 price tag and I grabbed it and gave it to my husband to scan to double check (because it seemed too cheap to just be sitting there). It can't have been labeled at that price for long.
  4. I picked up a City of Atlantis (7985) for $33 from Kmart. We also picked up a Duplo doctor's clinic (5695) for $39 from Kmart.
  5. I loved it, especially the first half (the more brick based animation). Brilliantly done and I agree, really smooth.
  6. These are so cute, I just want to eat them up. I really love them, beautifully shaped front and back.
  7. We did the typical, four-ers, six-ers, etc for 1x4 bricks and 1x6 bricks etc. If they were a 2x4 brick they would be a fat four-er. 1x1 round bricks were pipies. I can't think of any others right now. My 3 year old calls 1x1 round plates, buttons.
  8. Really beautiful. I also love all the details inside, there is so much to look at and it is all brilliantly done.
  9. Wow, these are beautiful. I love them all individually and together they are just brilliant.
  10. Like others have said, the use of the doors is genius (including the little thing to hold them up) and the weigh scale in the truck. It is a really nice MOC. But the most important question, does the truck serve salted herring?
  11. Thanks Lyichir. Some of the other customisations I have seen have had flawless paint work to support their ideas, (I still need a lot more practice). Lightning tiger... maybe catwoman coult be the next one. *runs off to check if catwoman headgear fits*
  12. Thanks LegoMyMamma, I agree, not all characters are best as minifigs. I am getting some better model painting supplies to paint another one (not sure which character yet though).
  13. As soon as I saw the Wonder Woman hair, I knew what we needed: Wonder Woman in the Friends range. Lego Wonder Woman - Friends by tikitikitembo, on Flickr (Ok, the paint work is dodgy, I am not very good at that type of thing, I just wanted to give it a try). I love how the Friends figures are so brilliant to modify (well I love the Friends figures in general)
  14. My husband said that it may be a case of them having a listing (that they paid for) that runs for a particular length of time and they may have run out of stock, so have put a stupid price to stop them selling in the meantime (until they get more stock). I don't know if this is the case, but it supposedly happens occasionally.
  15. Too cute, perfect for Valentine's day. I must admit, I also want to see them with lasers.
  16. If you want a brick built display, you could do something quite simple using some of the large windows that are around. This is something simple I just built to show two examples of what you could do (and build a number of them together to make a display). If you make tiled surfaces on the outside, it is also easier to remove dust (and hopefully your minifigs will remain dust free). DSC_0131 by tikitikitembo, on Flickr
  17. Thanks for posting that link, I am going to use some of his points to help me in my stop motion work.
  18. Thanks, I had built a smaller version of the scenery for something else, and decided to extend it into a stop motion set. (I will probably use it for a few test pieces also).
  19. I have just done a little stop motion Valentine Day card for my husband. This is my second stop motion thing and it took about a day so is very dodgy, and being a Valentine thing, is also very corny. My husband set up an area for me to film clips this weekend, so I am going to start practicing some effects and learn some techniques so I can start doing something better. 20. The build itself is beautifully done. The theme itself has also been executed brilliantly, you have portrayed emotion and events in such a simple and real way. As a parent this is also one of my (many) fears, so I think it is a little uncomfortable to look at. But that isn't a negative thing, I think Lego is a brilliant medium to express our fears and things that are not necessarily pleasant.
  21. I just ordered 3 pink tubs, at 13pounds each, from the hut (they also have an additional 10% off code for new Lego). As much as they are slow (so, so slow), I have never had anything canceled so far (but there is always a first time). I also got my minifig series 6 box from Amazon France (along with a bunch more friends sets). Although with the postage costs, I have been terribly restrained.
  22. I don't know if that is such an issue for children (A toy through adult eyes is very different to a toy through a child's eyes). I know my daughter plays with a variety of different types of figures (playmobil, Lego, stuffed teddies, etc) all in the same game. She has Friends sets and the Friends figures play happily beside standard minifigs (so for her, they are not incompatible).
  23. I really love the walls with the angled tile panels. It looks really good. Can't wait to see this as it progresses. (I have just finished watching deadwood and have created the characters, I just need to get around to building a scene).
  24. The thing that tipped him from collector to builder was he built an old steam train as a set and wanted to make it better so I strongly encouraged him to try different things and he liked the outcome. He still has some sets (modular ones) built which he has not noticed are missing bits)
  25. My husband is a member here after he was converted. (When I met him he had a few sets (exoforce of all things), so he was balancing on the edge, I just came along and pushed him into the AFOL pool). I also changed him from a set lover to a MOCer (which was more of a battle, but I needed pieces in the sets he had built, so was a necessary (albeit selfish) change I needed him to make).
