  1. None of the novels before A New Dawn are now considered canon (with the exception of film novelizations themselves, where they don't directly contradict the films).
  2. I grew up on Sesame Street in the late 80s/early 90s, so this set brings back a TON of nostalgia for me. A definite purchase!
  3. Crossing my fingers that LEGO sells this as well. Might as well throw my chances out the window if it's Amazon-only.
  4. Oh, I love it!! The build turned out beautiful. Too bad about no Grover or Count minifigs, but I'm amazed at the number of new molds we are getting here.
  5. So...did Mos Eisley Cantina ever become available for non-VIPs today? Just checked and it’s still OOS.
  6. Yeah, it’s the same style packaging that the 2x4 Red Brick GWP set came in a while back. Not sure why the change though.
  7. If this is the case with mine, I’ll be contacting Lego for a replacement sticker sheet.
  8. The cantina's actually shown as out of stock in the U.S. for a few hours now. Can't believe the GWP went so quickly!
  9. I got extremely lucky....managed to get an order in (including the GWP) just after 9:00 am EST this morning. I'm in the Mountain Time zone, and woke up just as it went live. Rolled over, picked up my phone and ordered, then rolled back over and went back to sleep. Seems LEGO really messed up with the Yoda's Lightsaber promotion. I don't think I've ever seen a GWP sell out this fast.
  10. Fantastic review! I'm looking forward to adding this to my collection. Not much longer now!
  11. Since you basically just listed off all the new minifigs in the set (which could easily set you back $100+), it’s undoubtedly better just to get the set IMO.
  12. At this point it’s really just Big Bird, Oscar, and Grover left of the “classic” main characters! I have a really hard time believing Lego would leave any of those out....
  13. Wow...can’t believe this thread has devolved into a debate about the merits of the cantina scene. It’s an iconic location in the franchise. Period. What more justification is needed?
  14. I'm 100% in agreement here. The only alternative to creating an ultimate Cloud City playset would be releasing a series of interconnected vignettes as individual sets....but even then, I'm not convinced the end result could have been much better.
  15. Bingo. LEGO is savvy enough to know that a set like this needs appeal to "all four quadrants", so to speak. For a high-ticket item like this to find wide success, it needs to have equal appeal to AFOLs, kids, and the Star Wars fan who's never purchased a LEGO set in their life. But alas....our community will manage to find ways to complain about everything, even an absolutely GORGEOUS set like this.
  16. .....And here we are! Beyond excited for this set. Like many of us, it's long been on my most-wanted list, and this looks to be beyond anything I ever expected. Can't wait to see more pics!
  17. My excitement levels are now through the roof! This set has been #1 on my most-wanted list for a very, very long time.
  18. I would be very surprised if Rebels sets didn't sell well. Lego seemed to release a good amount of sets in support of that series (there's still some ground I'd love for them to cover, though). Resistance, on the other hand.... Lego really dropped the ball in deciding which sets to produce, and Lucasfilm didn't do much better in their marketing and promotion of the show. Such a shame, as there was potential for some really cool sets.
  19. One overarching opinion I have is that the theme leans far too much on ships and vehicles, and not enough on locations and scenes.
  20. I completely agree -- I'm a huge fan of the large MBS-style sets. Assault on Hoth was really the only one that wasn't well-received by the AFOL community (I quite like the set for what it is, personally), otherwise, there's still some big potential to mine from for these type of sets.
  21. I have a July 31 birthday! If the big reveal happens to coincide, it'll be a great day indeed.
  22. It's interesting how the new "18+" moniker is becoming prevalent across so many themes. It made perfect sense for a UCS set (A-Wing) to adopt it as a first step in the Star Wars theme, but it's even more interesting to see a smaller set with that labeling. Could this be a sign that more detailed/movie accurate 18+ sets are on the way, at a variety of price points? I'm almost certain that the Mos Eisley Cantina set (if true) will be featured as an 18+ set and very film accurate....perhaps more so than prior MBS-style sets have been (Death Star, Assault on Hoth, Ewok Village, etc.), with less emphasis on play features and more emphasis on accuracy, easter eggs, etc. Regardless, I'm really loving the new direction Lego is going with 18+ sets. It feels like the company is turning a major corner in acknowledging its adult market.
  23. Regardless of what exactly it turns out to be, the possibility of ANY kind of $300+ Tatooine set has me incredibly excited!
  24. I don't trust the source, but I'm hoping for some news on this set soon!
