Price Rise on Lego Shop At Home!!
brickbitz replied to paul_delahaye's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
If you have a January S@H catalogue, entering the catalogue code when ordering should update the cart to the old prices as they were printed inside. This happened when I ordered the extension wires last week as they were more expensive when they appeared online. *sweet* -
Argos has loads of new lego! UK.
brickbitz replied to mutley777's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Yes, it works in conjunction with the IR receiver unit. You need both to get remote control. They come in the Monster Dino set and the Technic Bulldozer. You can now also order the power function parts separately directly from Shop at Home. The motors and IR units are relatively cheap. The motors are -

I noticed that too, very strange, the photo on the Argos website also shows the remote control. The AT-AT set only comes with one motor and the battery box. There is certainly no IR receiver or remote control in the set I got from Shop at Home, and I can't imagine how the IR unit could be built in without some major reworking of the internal structure. Argos seem to be getting worse with some of their descriptions. They also make it look like you get the Imperial Dropship and Rebel Speeder as one item for -

What will happen when star wars lego is gone forever?
brickbitz replied to General Zen's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Undoubtedly LEGO tapped into a huge market when somebody came up with the Star Wars license. Star Wars is obviously extremely collectable and there must be a great number of people who love having a minifig Darth Maul and such like on display without the desire to buy other LEGO products. The end of such a license may well be a large financial blow to LEGO and may well see the disappearance of the casual Star Wars enthusiast but it will not affect my love of the brick. I do have most of the Star Wars sets lined up on my shelves and I too love my Darth Maul minifig. Without Star Wars though, I will still look forward to the next LEGO catalogue. It isn't even generally the first thing I look for when new sets are released. So in summary, I might have concerns for LEGO's financial future and wonder how they will replace such a huge selling line, but the loss of the theme itself is not a major problem for me. It would certainly save me some money..... -
Well I suppose I just assumed that as the guy loading the plane he wouldn't being flying it. I guess with a small LEGO courier business , it could be a one man operation :-)

I may indeed have got mixed up with a slightly different red clone from the Turbo tank. The point I was trying to make is that this is the same clone found in the Clone Battlepack which is cheap and widely available. I'm sure dedicated fans will have plenty of this figure already. It only further serves to highlight the ridiculous price and the fact the figures are not a reason to consider this set. For this price point I would expect a unique figure similar to Kit Fisto in the Jedi Starfighter or K3-PO in the Hoth base to try and secure sales and create the usual interest in a hard to obtain figure. The only reason I mention this, is because that's what LEGO have done in the past. Why not with this set?

Well being on holiday from work and not knowing what to do I thought I might as well drive back to the LEGO store at Bluewater. Since my visit last week 7036 is now on the shelves at

2008 Creator - 4995 Cargo Copter Review
brickbitz replied to brickbitz's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Fair point, I'm not always happy with some of my shots, you're right that it is sometimes difficult to discern details. I may have to raid the linen cupboard. :-/ -
So here is a review for the last of my recent purchases. It's actually a great model and for

The new style doors. The black door seems flimsy and doesn't fit snugly into the frame, on the other hand the transparent door is fine. You can see it has the door handle as well. I tried several shots to reduce the glare on the window, but then I could barely see any detail at all. Although it's a 2x2 size it just seems different. I suspect it's mainly the flat window pane. The two indents to hold the pane are only on one edge. This is fine for houses as it provides a window sill effect. However I also have the new postal plane which I will have a review for shortly. The bad news is that the airplane style windows now use this flat pane as well, and in this case it's just not as good as the old bevelled edge pane.

Here are some additional images for those who asked for them. The reasons I didn't create many for my review are 1) Not impressed with the set 2) Image handling on my website is painful and the less I need the better Anyway here you go in no particular order

Looks like a nice set, I like the tiny turbos and have most of the older individual cars, but I am put off by the ever increasing price of the large sets with lots of extra parts that I'm not really interested in. I wish these were available as individual vehicles as well.

As no one here appears to have reviewed this set yet you can find my opinion at www.brickbitz.co.uk/7671.aspx It looks the part but at

For the UK guys I was in the LEGO store at Bluewater yesterday. They had quite a few stacks of 10178 piled up, didn't buy though as I have one already. Didn't appear to be a notice about any limit, although I know they limited the new Battle packs to 2 per customer and they still sold out before I got there.....
-
Found this set in the Bluewater LEGO store , since this is the only new Star Wars set I've not seen reviewed yet I thought I'd throw my two pence worth in. I can see why nobody is rushing to get this one though.... sort of a Droid Battlepack mark 2 but at twice the cost. You can read the details at www.brickbitz.co.uk/7670.aspx

2008 sets now available at LEGO brand shops in the UK
brickbitz replied to andy_0306uk's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Checked it out today in Bluewater. Good news is I picked up most of the new Star Wars stuff ,except the bad news which is they've already sold all the Imperial Dropship and Rebel Speeder battle packs and have none in stock currently. The guy did say more should be on the way perhaps towards the end of the week. -
Thanks Sinner, I made a phone call in the end and they sorted it out straight away. I may have got it too early and they really didn't have them available at the time, but they've arrived in the post now with a free spongebob keyring ??? The moral of the story is I will always call LEGO directly for any future problems and not bother with email.

The new Argos catalogue is out with their summer sets. They appear to have some exclusive castle sets 7094 Kings Castle Seige -

Yep I agree it appears to make no sense, but they may be telling the truth for whatever reason. I've searched the LEGO assets site using the seven digit manual number and it isn't there, this is true for 7663 Sith Infiltrator as well. Both are not currently available via LEGO directly, yet all the other available summer 07 sets via S@H do have their pdf manuals available, including the 3 Star Wars sets 7660,7661 and 7662.

Yep, you're right. I hadn't really looked but on closer inspection it's not the same design as the original yellow Qui-Gonn Jinn face but as you point out it is in fact Obi-Wan' s face from the Ep III sets. On checking the box pic , it does have Qui-Gonn Jinn, the subtle difference is the moustache. This is how it came out the box, I wonder if it's another mistake. So much for getting the kits first.... Looks like another email to customer service. :-(
