[MOC] JCB 3CX Compact Backhoe
Jobo replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It really oughta be an official set. I was shopping yday and no technic sets caught my eye, and if they did, they were too expensive because of being based on brands. I love love love models like this that focus on functionality. I'm gonna download the instructions and see if i have the parts. My girlfriend's been looking for a moderately challenging and smaller build. Thanks a lot. -

Late to the party, but this is seriously ace. If this was an official release, I'd buy it in a sinch. Packed full of functions and with complex mechanisms. This is what we're looking for! -
Cool Technic Christmas Mocs
Jobo replied to Jobo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Cool idea, but was hoping for something that is mostly technic No worries. I tried searching on google, but all results were using lego system parts. I was after something almost entirely technic, and could only find one model. Decided to make something myself! Waving walking santa :) -
I'm trying to build several pneumatic powered walls, constantly going up and down, all controlled by a single pneumatic lever that is constantly switching from left to ride, ergo creating the up and down motion. Do any of you guys have any good examples, or ideas on how to create such an alternating pneumatic lever? Thanks in advance :) Also, i have an electric pump that is traditionally used to power aquariums. It provides non stop high power airflow to any pneumatic creation i choose to create. Thanks again.

thanks for all your replies guys. i've been working ion my own designs all week. i'll give it one final crack tonight and then see if your suggestions would be better. cheers -
Me and my friend are building a MarioKart-esque race track around my living room. Does anyone have any good links to compact sized karts that can be driven and steered remotely? I have access to the newest motors as well as the previous gen's motors. I'm looking for the smallest karts possible. Added bonus: If you have any cool ideas for obstacles and traps I'm all ears. :) Thanks in advance

I'm open to anything. (Though I'm particularly interested in transforming robots). Something that involves a lot of mechanisms, motors and pneumatics. I have a tonne of Technic, yet it's been gathering dust for the past two years. If you got any ideas for a cool project, throw it at me. I really want to start a new project, but am somewhat devoid of ideas right now. Cheers!

I cannot give you the exact names so forgive me. 1. The spider type robots from the COMPETITION theme in the 90s. I never owned this set, but whenever I looked at the pictures in the catalogue I always thought it was so cool that the designers had managed to make a spider like movement using technic. I'm pretty sure in reality, it was nothing of the sort (I think it just vibrated), but a kid's imagination is oft to get carried away. 2. The Submarine set from the 90s. Was mostly yellow, featured a blue air tank, a full sized Technic fig, pneumatics and a CD. I'm not sure why Ive listed this. Maybe just nostalgia from that CD intro. 3. The Robotics Invention Kit (2.0 I believe). When I was a thirteen year old kid, back when the internet didn't exist, this set was my life for about a year. Easily the best Christmas present Ive ever received. I cannot tell you just how many hours of joy this gave me.

Since joining EB last year, I've been dreaming about this type of contest. I was initially disappointed about the restrictions on motors, but that YouTube link above demonstrating what can be done with just one motor has changed my mind. A bit miffed about pneumatics being restricted, but I think I get the reasoning behind it. Thanks for organising this.

[APP] BrickController2
Jobo replied to imurvai's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I really appreciate you making this app Imurvai. You are a fantastic person for doing so. Controlling my robot last night with my PS4 controller was the coolest thing ever, so thanks alot. Does anyone know why LEGO hasn't made something like this yet? Or haven't updated their official app to support custom creations? I'm utterly baffled that they haven't done so, as it entirely contradicts the LEGO ethos of using your imagination to create whatever you want. And one more thing, if anyone could point me in the direction of some tutorials, or online literature about how to use BrickController2 I would be very grateful.- 1,308 replies
