  1. I would imagine new fans, since the line likely has a target age group and a lot of the older fans of the previous series likely grew out of that target group (like, I don't see them really trying to keep close ties to the extremely convoluted previous story, nor do I see them trying to make the series nitty/gritty/dark 'n edgy again [i think they pulled out of that near the end of the old series? I didn't pay much attention past 2007 tbh] just to appeal to a sorta... side demographic [older fans of the series]). I could see them doing like, little homages and references and stuff, but for the bulk of things I'm imagining they would rather have new fans and would want to appeal to their target age demographic first.
  2. Actually a lot of them do have to deal with that; I would seriously love to see more female characters with personality and effort put into writing them and in as much abundance and diversity as the male cast. Romance is one of those things I just feel was an incredibly weird call on Greg's part to remove, since he writes it so heavily anyway (at least undertones) and... it was just a weird sort of thing that never made sense (then again I don't particularly care for Greg's writing and he made a lot of weird excuses for things, so). Not a big fan of the last comment? I mean, the people there are definitely parts of the fandom and definitely do have valid complaints and critiques when they bring these facets of the story up (and most of them are pretty respectable people -- at least those who offhandedly mention that they didn't like it, not so much the outpouring of disgust from a bunch of other people who jump on those offhanded critiques and try to say "you can't have this opinion" or try to write it off as a less important and worthy discussion point than... like, what set is your favorite...). There's a lot of other things I would love to see in the series itself, but I really don't trust Lego and their writers enough to pull it off that well so I won't voice them, lol. (ngl though, I kinda like the idea of Lewa being plant-life oriented than air, though I've absolutely 0 idea if that change is in the cards or not)
  3. Oh, I have a few! I enjoy reading for fun (Anything, really -- YA series like The Infernal Devices, The Mortal Instruments, Harry Potter, etc... to The Picture of Dorian Gray, or A Midsummer Night's Dream, or Oliver Twist... and then other fiction, like the Night Angel trilogy, or the Deepgate Codex). That all hinges on what I'm interested in at the moment (TMI sorta holds a special place in my heart for character diversity: lovely to have a bisexual character and a gay character in -something- for once). But aside from reading I enjoy creative writing; used to write tons of fanfiction for whatever I was interested in before I started working on original things (and text-based roleplaying factors into that, which lets me play with new characters and ideas a bit... as well as introduce some new ones, lol). Aside from those it's games (like whatever MMO my friends get engaged in, or LoL despite how terrible I am at it, or console RPG's, or handheld ones like The Legend of Zelda -- Disgaea also has a special place in my heart as does Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy). Can't think of much else I do that'd really fit into "hobby"... I mean, I buy a lot of pretty pink things, so I guess that could count to some degree? IIIII only really bake sometimes and I don't cook as often as I should, so I'm just kinda average there and follow the rules as far as that goes (and am not really someone who goes out of their way to do either, haha).
  4. Pretty sure it's still How to Train Your Dragon 2, which I thought was a really cute movie a lot of detail was put into (like, all the dragons interacting in their own ways with one another in the background when characters were speaking).
  5. I still don't really have strong feelings on whether or not the line's returning (Cool if it is! Alright if it isn't), but if they are bringing it back I do hope they don't fall into a lot of the problems that plagued the original series. Especially with like... some of the really nonsensical story decisions that really only served to exclude other people from enjoying and identifying with the characters in the story, and the weird shift in atmosphere they tried to do around 2005/2006 with their "we're suddenly darker, there's death and everything's grittier." Plus, wouldn't mind some more diversity with characters and their personalities and some more unique interactions (and kicking some of the... like, really weird decisions out -- like the whole "no romance" even though... like... romance was actually heavily implied in a lot of cases and really made no sense in de-canonizing completely. Then again, there was a looooot of useless stuff canonized so.... eh, I'm sorta starting to ramble on about my least favorite years). But like, while I have all of my personal qualms with the story and a lot of things really bugged and irked me, a part of me is kinda excited to see it again. Sorta doubt I'd really spend money on it in the future, but I dunno, Bionicle was one of the first things I became a fan of and it might just be a bit of nostalgia getting all "remember the first time you got Gali and thought she was the greatest thing ever despite hurting yourself putting her together with your six year old hands"... kinda fittingly got her after going to the Aquarium at Mall of America. well that's my rambled out opinion anyhow.
  6. Oh man where do I start -- - Sailor Moon (I still need to see the first Crystal episode, my computer's internet's been a little finnicky with it, sadly x.x) - Blue Exorcist (Specifically enjoying how, at least in the beginning, the protagonist isn't a violence-imbued ball of destruction and actually talked through and grew from a lot of bad situations) - Full Metal Alchemist (Stiiiillll don't think a show has brought me to tears as often as FMA and FMA Brotherhood) - Neon Genesis Evangelion (I watched it like... Freshman year? Of Highschool? I dunno [Kaworu/Shinji ship forever]) - No. 6 (More since like... again I saw it Freshman or Sophomore year in Highschool, so a while ago, but it was nice to see some romance building between the two male protagonists -- plus Nezumi as Ophelia was like... a whole scene I remember hugely, specifically due to some identity issues I had then and had later and it was like... I dunno, kinda felt nice?) - Summer Wars (Anime movie, but I loved the message behind it and how everyone came together during the movie) - Trigun (Kinda on the basis of "first anime I sat all the way through" and I adored Vash, I had the hugest crush on him) - G Gundam/Gundam 00 (I've seen other Gundam series, but not in full -- I kinda just saw a little of SEED and Wing so I can't really say I like/dislike them -- but G Gundam is nostalgia for me, and 00 had an interesting cast of characters and plot to it, I felt) - Hellsing Ultimate/Elfen Lied (They were extremely violent/bloody... but vampires are a weakness of mine, and as for Elfen Lied, there were some messages in the actual series that I picked up on that made me think about how society treats others/why it treats certain things the way it does and actually spurred on an interest in psychology and sociology). - I did like Trinity Blood (Abel was like, again I had a lot of crushes in that show so haha -- but some concepts it had were interesting and I liked the characters, though I felt like the series sort of ended weirdly and without any real closure -- at least, the animated series. I have no idea if they ever did a season two or not?) - Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler -- I really liked the first season a lot more than the second, though I think most of that is the first season felt more conjoined and the second felt a little disjointed, plot-wise -- plus, I really liked their portrayal of Angels) - Disgaea (The Animated series, though the games are great, too!) - Soul Eater (Black Star kinda grew on me over the course of the show, even though I maybe made a lot of fun of him and compared his irritability factor to the Naruto character [but unlike Naruto, Black Star actually develops in meaningful directions and we, the viewers, actually see it happen). - Attack on Titan (I like it, it's not the best story-wise yet, but I'm still just on the beginning -- the animation is absolutely beautiful, though). - Avatar the Last Airbender (I binged this when I was younger, with friends, and it was a huge part of my school days back then -- plus, I mean, who couldn't adore the dork that is Zuko? I haven't seen much of Korra yet, so I can't speak on that one) - Prince of Egypt (Sort of like... it's a Dreamworks movie on a religious occurrence, but it's not... preachy? Like I'm not religious and I took a lot away from it, plus the music was absolutely lovely especially "Through Heaven's Eyes") - I feel like I should give the first two Bionicle films a mention, though they were kinda... eeeeeeh as movies, it's more that I had a large group of friends into the series and when I think of the movies it sorta just reminds me of when I was quite little with a bunch of friends and us all dorking out and being nerds together... I can't watch the movies with a straight face anymore though, lol) And there's like, probably an absolute ton of others I could go into (like, Lion King), but I kinda went ham with this list and it's getting long despite how I tried to only keep it to blurbs about each film/series. (I like my animated media, okay?)
  7. Only rule I have: Have fun. I'm not really a picky MOCist, tbh, I just sometimes do it to relax or to think about something for a while ('specially if I get all stumped on a creative writing endeavor), also why I don't think I've ever really shared my creations... at least like, not in the last... err... eight.... years... >.>;;
  8. I'm currently listening to "Victim of Ritual" by Tarja Turunen (former lead vocalist of the Finnish band Nightwish), IIIII didn't embed the video as there's some language and I can't offhandedly recall EB's policy on that.
  9. Not that long ago I took to re-reading Alan Campbell's Scar Night, from the Deepgate Codex trilogy. Always missed the adorable, clumsy archon and the mentally unstable serial killer angel. Might get into the Game of Thrones series next, or read The Thirteen Hallows: not entirely sure yet.
  10. I haven't bought sets for a long while, but I'll generally mess around with what I have once a month. Reason for my spotty usage of what I have comes from a bunch of other hobbies I'm currently busy with, like writing, although I have a feeling that over this summer I'll likely spend some more time with it. But, really, it just varies from month to month, year to year even -- this year just hasn't been one of those "I feel like building something" years so far.
  11. I used to be fairly rigid for Star Wars sets and BIONICLE sets, but later on there were other themes that I enjoyed (like Knights Kingdom, Exo-Force at first) so I started to just go ahead and pick what I thought was neat from varying themes. I haven't really bought any sets recently, mostly because I just don't have the extra cash to do so, but I have a feeling I'd likely gravitate towards POTC, Castle and the currently available space-themed sets.
  12. I've counted that I own roughly 30ish minifigs. Of course, this doesn't take into account the amount I've lost over the years, or the ones I've given away on occasion to some people for a variety of reasons.
