I think this is most likely because it means they aren't throwing away a mold that was only recently made and makes it better by releasing a new half to it. I just hope they release a tool as well to make it easier to remove the two halves from each other. -

I got to see the new wheel hubs before link was removed and they are really nice and even if the model doesn't have functional brakes, this new hub can be easily used in mocs for brakes and it actually looks cool -

Heck yeah, except the 42070 was a terrible set/build -

The color is frustrating to me. I wish it was a normal blue in the front followed by the silver C and then black in the rear of the car. i think two tone blue is bad, especially because i dont like dark azure. However, i will say that the design is decent and i believe the functions will "save" the set for me, although i already know the set will be good. -

That would be totally ideal and in my opinion perfect -

Actually now that I think about it, you’re actually pretty right in that it can damage the part quickly. But honestly this set needs to have something that stands out from the 42056 and it can’t be an overhyped gearbox. Whether functional or not in reality “moving brakes” (as they don’t actually engage the wheel hub but still move) would really set this set apart from its predecessor -

Here's the thing though, it doesn't require that much pressure in order to stop. If the 42083 has HOG steering on the top of the model or front of windscreen then they can feasibly add a lever for engaging and disengaging the brakes. Also, why does it matter if the tears up the piece because many people will simply buy and build to display. Only us AFOLs will want to work with brakes. -

That was the model I was thinking of when i wrote this. -

But I've seen many people use the small 2L flexible liftarm to do brakes, why not just use that because its rubber and can take some friction. this piece here -

All I want is for the brakes be functional, not fake brakes like 42056. That in my opinion would make the set for me personally. -

I personally think that working brake calipers will be implemented in this set whether it be with current hubs, custom hubs, or new hubs. I also think that the calipers will be pneumatic in order that they can work without PF because this set is already pretty much confirmed to not have Power Functions. Brake calipers would also be a good idea on TLG's part because the lego community has been asking for them for so long which is part of the reason I think TLG will implement calipers. Also, for people that think it would ruin MOC building, many people will still design their own hubs and brakes because they want a challenge or something functionally superior. -

What if it ends up being and electric pneumatic valve that can be controlled with IR, Pole reverser, SBrick, and Buwizz? It would make adding pneumatics to our RC cars significantly easier and cheaper because we don’t have go out and buy a servo motor -

I mainly curious to know if the model will be AWD I think that is pretty important. Also, let’s assume for second that they release no new parts besides the rims, can we expect working mechanical brakes. Suspension, gearboxes, and AWD are common now and it would be nice to see a LEGO model by TLG with functional brakes. That was a criticism I heard about the 42056 is that didn’t have working brakes. Also as much as i’m On the hype train about this car, I probably won’t be let down. I wasn’t let down by the 42056 so I doubt the 42083 won’t live up to expectations in my opinion. -

That’s true and I totally agree with that and I hadn’t thought of that. However, some will want to build better custom brakes just like people build custom wheel hubs in the past. Also it would be nice for people like me who can’t afford to buy tons of peices to have an alternative to build their mocs. -

Honestly I hope they only release a few new parts. I hope that they realize new wheel hubs front and back the either have pneumatic brake pads built in or as a separate part. I like this idea because we would finally be given brakes to build into our models. This would leave the old hubs for display sets. If they release a pneumatic brake pad they might have to also release an electric valve. Am I too hopeful or is it realistic to expect only a few new parts but for those parts to be game changing? I do like the idea of a new gear clutch size as well. Note that LEGO hasn’t released any new technical parts yet this year. Maybe they are saving their allotted number of new molds for the 42083 Bugatti Chiron. I sincerely hope this is the case.
