  1. I'd say people don't buy it anymore, because it's just a very disappointing set. Yes, yes, nice minifigs and nice little Slave 1, but the rest is sooo uninspired, it hurts.
  2. Both no real surprise. According to the pattern they'll bring back a new version of the DS in 2021. 10143 Death Star II - 2005/2007 10188 Death Star - 2008/2015 75159 Death Star - 2016/2020
  3. Set retirements: July 2020 75214 Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter 75234 AT-AP Walker 75237 TIE Fighter Attack December 2020 75159 Death Star 75192 Millennium Falcon 75220 Sandcrawler 75235 X-Wing Starfighter Trench Run 75236 Duel on Starkiller Base 75239 Action Battle Hoth Generator Attack 75240 Major Vonreg’s TIE Fighter 75241 Action Battle Echo Base Defense 75242 Black Ace TIE Interceptor 75243 Slave I – 20th Anniversary Edition 75244 Tantive IV 75251 Darth Vader’s Castle 75258 Anakin’s Podracer – 20th Anniversary Edition
  4. 75244 Tantive IV, 75159 Death Star and 75192 Millennium Falcon retiring december 2020. 75222 Betrayal at Cloud City retiring december 2019. Yes, 2019. Any bets on a new DS in 2021?
  5. My current situation: https://www.flickr.com/photos/153780658@N02/ Lots of LACK. That's about 8 meters of LEGO SW. You'll notice i used vertical LACKs to support the horizontal ones. Next week i'll have a friend come over to help me drag the future cabinet for the UCS MILF out of the basement. Will post pics of the upcycling process.
  6. I like the stand coming with it. With a bit of tinkering and reinforcement it should be possible to mount the SD at an angle for better presentation. Or saving space.
  7. Very, very cool. The only thing would be a bigger opening on top. But that would require the right tools not everybody owns (like a router) or professional help to put a real glass plate in. It's the perfect size to snuggly fit the Falcon. Very well done sir!
  8. Absolutely, but IVAR is something not everyone wants to have in their living room.
  9. I'm not very worried about more large, expensive UCS models. They could do a new SSD in 6-9 years. But what's left for displaying at that size? We already got a new Tantive IV, so that's out. A MonCal cruiser? Nebulon B? Those from LEGO? Nah. Maybe an update to the Death Star. Can't see a UCS Venator. A new AT-AT or Sandcrawler would have to be an absolute monster to justify $500 up. Can't think of any existing ship/vehicle design except SSD or DS to excel the $500 in the near future. They'd have to come up with something completely new, but then they'd be limited to SD designs again.
  10. If you want to have it high up on the wall, you'll have to resort to something like the 50cm deep IVAR. The hanging shelves like LACK are not deep enough + i really wouldn't trust them to hold that double whammie. The only other way for using IKEA stuff would be a cabinet minus doors, or on top of a cabinet. IKEA has no other shelves or cabinets which are deeper than 47cm. Tonight i'll upload some pics of my momentary LACK solution, have to finish some bricking and rearranging first :)
  11. Please not. From everything i've heard about Australia, it might be highly poisonous. I'm with you, but comparing a 2019 set to ones from 2011 or 2002 doesn't work and if it's just for inflation. New techniques, new parts, higher expectations on the aesthetic side. That $500 rumour was too good to be true from the beginning.
  12. Whatever you smoke, i need some of it
  13. Opinions are good, but this is getting ridiculous. People expect absolutely unrealistic things or are just too §$%&/ to acknowledge, that a huge plate is more expensive than 10 1-stud-parts and start complaining. It's like leaving the house in the middle of the night and being pissed the sun isn't shining.
  14. Yeah, that constant whining starts to aggravate me. No play-features -> it's a display model, stop whining! Not enough minifigs -> it's a display model without play-features, stop whining! Too many studs -> it's LEGO, LEGO has studs, stop whining or buy a MOC! It's too expensive for the number of parts -> lots and lots of large parts, the money-to-weight-ratio actually is good, stop whining!
  15. Funny how 20 tiny parts can make grown men wet their pants out of sheer excitement. THIS IS LEGOOO!
  16. I already can see bricks which aren't very common, or haven't been used in years, like those huge tiles, modified with studs, or the tile 6x6. Then we have Technic, Panel Plate 5 x 11 x 1 Tapered, Technic, Panel Plate 5 x 11 x 1, Technic, Panel Plate 3 x 11 x 1. Lots of large parts in general, like the Plate 16 x 16 (which surprisingly saw a SW set only once before (white, Betrayal at the Cashier)). Then looking at the weight, makes €700 look quite fair. I'll wait for the occasional 25-30% discount, but it's a sure buy.
  17. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=50955&name=Wedge 10 x 3 Left&category=[Wedge]#T=S&C=5&O={"color":5,"iconly":0} https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=50956&name=Wedge 10 x 3 Right&category=[Wedge]#T=S&C=5&O={"color":5,"iconly":0} Yes, almost non-existent, but surprisingly cheap IF you can get your hands on a used one.
  18. No luck here either. The situation really is hilarious. There are products out there, but at insane rates. Luckily i got a very stable left over cabinet that's big enough to house 2 MILFs. The top part already has glass doors. I'll cut out large parts of the sides and the lower doors and replace it with glass or plexi. A lot of cutting, sanding and painting ahead.
  19. I'd prefer that newly leaked fake "UCS womp-rat" over any battleback.
  20. I'm already thinking about some kind of Efferman. The MF fits perfectly on an IKEA LACK shelf using Efferman stand. The ISD beside it would be spectacular.
  21. Nah. It would have to be almost a third longer than the old one to surpass the SSD. 10030 Imperial Star Destroyer = 96cm 10221 Super Star Destroyer = 124,5cm
  22. I want two points, two flats and a packet of gravel. No. It's all about the set, not the show/movie. I don't even care about the minifigs. TIEs and MFs are a pretty sure buy.
  23. But will it be a classic ISD or a FO superwiener-ISD?
