LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
oodan replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Night Buzzard is a definite skip. Most of this wave (the revealed parts, at least) is in fact, between the too-high prices, the repeats of things I already have and how incredibly pointless and obviously, cynically made purely for collect-them-all type toy marketing the Knights of Ren were in the movie. -

Lol, watch us get a repeat of the FFH Nick Fury minifigure. I wouldn't be mad though, I never picked it up. -

Weird how, despite being direct tie ins to the game, Miss Marvel didn't appear in the last wave and isn't rumoured to appear in the next wave of sets. Maybe she'll be in the tower, what with the 2 mystery supers? Also, the Helicarrier mentions a blue and yellow quinjet being included; I noticed this AIM vehicle show up in the latest trailer, could a smaller, inaccurately coloured version of this be what appears in the set? On an unrelated note, is there any news on when the Kree suit Captain Marvel polybag will be available in the UK? I haven't seen it anywhere. -

Given how they treated Battlefront 2, Resistance and The Mandalorian, we're probably going to get one or two sets with a the main character and a weirdly chosen selection of builds that appeared for like 15 seconds in one episode. Oh, you're right. Could've sworn he had appeared more, hence why he was chosen for Rebels. -

In an ideal world we'd get a Bad Batch set reminiscent of the Inferno Squad battlepack, but given how it's just one relatively minor arc in a season that appears to be mainly focused on Ahsoka and Mandalore, the fact that we never got a number of major characters such as Echo, Gregor, Yularen and Trench and the fact that it would require a number of new prints and molds - something that lego loves to skimp on at the moment - the likelihood seems low. -

When I was a kid collecting Star Wars Lego, I'd always like having the recognisable characters and the vehicles more than location sets because, unlike with the location sets, I could imagine them anywhere; from Utapau to (the forest moon of) Endor to the far reaches of space. With location play sets, it limited the adventure to one location on one planet. Just offering a differing perspective on it. -

In what world does the buggy look anything other than terrible? Are Spider-Man fans getting so desperate to find something decent in these sets that they're at the point where they would consider that tiny, malformed buggy a good build? -

Thank god Lego Marvel can't seem to make a good set to save their lives, all the more money I'll have for the Clone Wars revival sets. -

Definitely skipping. Insane price for several minifigures I already have and Grievous's ship, which I don't hate but don't love either. The only incentive I would have to buy this set is Cody, if he really is the clone included, but a single wide released minifigure shouldn't be worth $80. -

Lego Marvel sets based on female lead MCU movies and not including the character who is obviously going to be the twist villain, name a more iconic duo. Seriously, 2 for 2 at this point. We got Killian for Iron Man 3 and we got Mysterio for FFH, so where's Yon Rogg and Melina? Unless she's under the Taskmaster mask. Speaking of Taskmaster, he has a nice face print. I still hate his movie look though, so it doesn't do much for me. I'll probably use his parts to make other figures. They were less lazy with Nat and Yelena than I expected. New leg and torso printing for both? Wow Lego, you're really getting daring with this set aren't you? What's this? A lego marvel helicopter that's actually... realistic and looks good? Impossible. There has to be some mistake here. Am I looking at the right set pictures? Oh no, there's a truly awful quad bike, I definitely am. Much as I like the helicopter, I wish they did his M1117 Armoured Security Vehicle looking thing instead, as we've never got anything like it before. -

I don't love it. It's nice to get another Venom facial expression I guess, but I can't say I'm a fan of it, and the fact that the torso isn't fully venomised detracts from the look of the thing significantly. -
Oh yeah, I can see that would look much more accurate. Only problem is that they didn't do the button printing on Banner. Is it just me, or does the Adam West Bruce Wayne figure look a bit like Senator Keene?

Anyone have thoughts on how to create other characters from the show?

I seriously can't believe we're getting a venomised Iron Man before a (wide released) black suit Spider Man, this is totally ridiculous -

You're definitely reading into it too much. It's recreating the scene from the movie when she's at a payphone, trying to call Starforce. -

I hope that set is widely available, £5 in Sainsbury's or something, because it would be great to get multiples of both torsos for a decent price. -

Lol yeah, the weird gunship thing in the final set is probably the exact opposite of what I expected a jet belonging to Spider-Man Noir to look like. It's just a shame that they didn't have the confidence to do something that actually fits with Spider-Man Noir's context. I don't hate the build (again, would prefer it wasn't in red and blue), but it doesn't make sense for any of the characters there to own it. I do like the Venomech suit though, pretty similar to what I was hoping for (pictured below.) I'm considering getting the Spider-Man mech and repurposing it to be SP//DR. I really wish Lego would've just made it SP//DR in the first place, but oh well. Might get the Mysterio mech. Probably won't. I don't see anything there personally, and I don't see anything on the legs either. The Spidercycle with the legs is an abomination. It's absolutely stupid, and I love it. I won't be getting it, but it's hilarious. -

The Vulture set is a 4+ set, so don't expect for it to be anywhere near as good as the Doc Ock truck heist. I doubt the Venom mech will look good, but here's hoping that it looks like the evil robot from the 2018 reboot of Lost In Space (bottom left picture). Relatedly, I hope that the "jet" is actually Noir's, and looks WW2ish. Oh, and also that doesn't have the default Spider-Man vehicle colour scheme, which almost always makes what could be a decent build look garish. The Mysterio one isn't a 4+ set, is it? The description makes it sound like it isn't, but I could have sworn someone said it was. -

I noticed that 3-in-1 red car having massively oversized wheels, but now you mention it I can actually see that in most of the Ninjago and City sets too. Not so much in the gorgeous new Speed Champions sets (and oh my god, can we just talk about how great they look now they're 8 studs wide? That size should really be made the norm among all lines, the proportions compared to a figure look so good instead of weirdly undersized as they did before with the 6 wide Speed Champions sets.) Coming back to marvel, it really pains me when I'm scrolling along and go from this beautifully detailed sports car to The Avengers' truck that looks like it was designed by a 12 year old throwing bricks at a wall to see what sticks. -

Oh wow, all the sets are so bad. The bike is once again super oversized, the truck looks like it's trying something new with the front but failing miserably and the Iron Mech... well, all I can think of is this. The very few saving graces of the wave are the minifigures, the AIM drone and the AIM wing suit. They're the only decent things. Seriously. -

Star Panther's design is so good, I really hope that he comes in a set. I doubt they'd do it, but a "fun in the park" type set with a bunch of What If builds and characters would be pretty cool. -

Why even bother with eBay? The only things you'll be missing out on if you bricklink all the parts and find digital instructions are the stickers (of which I believe there's only 1) and the physical box and instructions. -

Didn't it say something along the lines of "Marvel also contributed" instead of listing it as one of the top selling themes though?
