? Don’t worry I had never heard of them until a few months ago. -

Please remember that the set is based on two race cars and is licenced through Squadra Corse. Both cars feature stickers in real life (as do all race cars), and additionally why would Squadra Corse allow LEGO to produce these cars without any stickers of their partners who support them such as Pirelli and Roger Dubuis. -

Totally agree with you. I also think a rallycross car would look pretty neat in amongst the new 8 wide models. Nice mods on the audi too mate? -

The schedule is typically 5-6 cars in the first quarter, plus the possibility of another car released later in the year. -

Something that I appreciate with the new sets is an addition of a hair piece for each minifigure. That just adds to the ability to display the driver outside of the car without either having his face covered or no head piece at all. -

The GT-R looks great, best car of the wave in my opinion. Only negative thing is how small the wheels are in comparison to the car, but none the less a great job by the designers. -

Agree that the back looks terrible, but to be honest in real life it looks pretty ordinary. -

The GT-R has a more simplistic shape than the Ferrari, so hopefully the designers have translated it nicely into brick form. It also important to note that a GT-R is a lot taller than most Ferrari’s and McLarens. -

As neither the Ferrari or Audi have separate builds, I doubt it, but I guess we won’t know until it is released. The sets title is Nissan GT-R Nismo, but given the previous history of SC race spec cars, I wouldn’t be surprised. But I feel like it will be the road car. -

The Ferrari looks awesome and is definitely the best car of the wave yet. The interior of it also looks very neat, especially when compared to the older SC cars with random colours place everywhere. -

I too am excited for the change in scale, although the sets so far have not impressed me that much (especially the prices). As for an 8 wide Porsche turbo, I haven’t seen one yet, but after the new 6 wide windshields are released for sale I’m sure some one will will make an 8 wide 75895. Oh, my bad. I know that stickers aren’t ideal, but for the price of the sets and the amount used I think that it would be unviable for LEGO to have printed bricks. -

I feel like because on the real car the lights are at such an angle and them self’s are an odd shape that it would have been hard for the designers to make out of bricks. -

Do you guys think that the switch to 8 wide will have an impact on sales? For most people the price is probably more important than the scale. -

The more I look at these new sets the more I’m disappointed. It seems like LEGO has gone back to the early SC days, were all the details were created by stickers. The last wave had ingenious part use, like the Senna’s headlights. And I also get the impression that brands are having more of a say on what cars are included. I doubt that LEGO would include either the I-Pace or the Urus on their own choice. So far I’m personally not liking what I am seeing, but I’ll have to what to see them in person to make a final judgment. -

Agree, especially considering you only get 100 extra bricks with the Lamborghini set. -

100% agree that the Urus is just a an Audi, which is based on a VW chassis, which is also shared with Porsche. I feel like it may have fit better if it had a trailer to tow the Huracan, but then that would have drove up the price even more. Also, is it just me or does the front of the Huracan look a lot like a Ford GT up the front. -

I don’t know what’s more disappointing. The fact that Lamborghini made an SUV or that LEGO decided to replicate it. While I don’t mind the switch to 8 wide, it’s sort of annoying that now I’ll wasted money on sets that have become obsolete. -

Lego does have a history of doing cars that have recently won big races with the Audi r8, Porsche 919 etc. -

I would love to see the Civic Type R done or maybe a set with the old and new NSX. I wouldn’t mind getting a few more rally cars, especially the old Audi’s and Puegeot’s.- 81 replies

My top 5: 1: Scuderia Ferreri Truck and F14: Very large set with lots of cool features. Being my first Speedchampions set, I loved the build of the truck and trailer. when assembled there was so much you could do with the set, pit stops, setting up, travelling to/from a race 2: Ford GT and GT40: Alot has changed in 50 years. This set builds two very iconic ford cars, both Le Mans 24 Hour winners. The GT40 is an interesting build, and the rear window and the front are definetly cool features. The new GT also is very well re-created and the pair look awesome together. 3: Porsche RSR and 911 Turbo 3.0: Another set with old and new. Love the new wheel arches on the 911 Turbo, and the lime green turns out pretty nice. The RSR is definetly an improvement on the originals (75912), and I love the red, grey and black stripes. 4: Porsche 919 Hybrid: When the first 919 Hybrid was released (75876), I was pretty dissapointed with it's overall shape and colour scheme. But the new 919 (75887), features an improved front spoiler, and a cool paint scheme (very similar to the new Porsche RSR). It's a great tribute to the last Porsche LMP1 to win Le Mans 24 Hour. 5: McLaren P1: While the original Speedchampions sets were a bit disproportionate, I love the use of a snowboard as the rear spoiler on the back of the car. The car in real life is cool, and I'm always biased towards McLaren. Thanks to everyone else who commented

I'd have to agree that Assembly Square is a great set, but the reason my favourite is the Ford GT and GT40 is purely because i am a massive Motorsports fan. The city pizza van is also an awesome set especially because it can fit in to most layouts. Have to agree that the service station was a big dissapointment, but it did inspire me to build a decent service station.

Me too. The other day i got to see a rock fisher be airlifted to hospital. The boats and helicopter reminded my of the coast gaurd sets. Keep up the cool stories from Ballabreek 'greg3'.

In Australia they have always been about $20 in toy stores, but they have always been $22.99 on legoshop.com.au. Anyway i'm looking forward to the ferrari 488 GT3 to add to the other 6 GT cars that are in the speedchampions line?
