  1. You can change the design of the set by swapping parts. But I don't get why it says it on the boxes of Elsa's and Mulan's sets, because they are too small to swap anything really. You can change the roof and the balcony of the castles. Maybe the parts with Cinderella's castle will even be swap-able with Sleeping Beauty's castle, and vise versa.
  2. Wow, so all their faces were redesigned. I guess they wanted to give the princesses a reboot just like they did with Friends. Their expressions definitely look more lively and tailored to fit each princess. (I think Maleficent and the princes are the only ones whose faces were left untouched?) I think the build and swap feature is really cool. I wonder if this is a one-time thing or if they'll continue it in the summer and/or beyond. What I don't get though is, why does it say build and swap on the Elsa and Mulan sets? There's no picture to show the swapping like the others, and given how small the sets are I don't really see what parts could be interchangeable.
  3. It looks to me like there is also an fairground organ! It was hard for me to tell, but it looks like the puppet theater swivels and reveals something behind it. Perhaps in 2019 there will be either Andrea's or Mia's houses. Olivia's I think was released in 2013, then Emma's in 2015, then Stephanie's in 2017, so one every other year. I want all five girls to have houses too! _______________________________________________________________________ I agree with Klaus-Dieter that the friendship house has too many unrealistic components. A building won't just have a slide coming off the side of it! That's actually my biggest pet peeve when they just randomly add a slide to a building that has no purpose for being there. But I'm sure it can be modified and taken out. That's what I did with the slide in Elsa's castle. What do y'all suppose the "friendship house" even is? I mean, who owns the building? Is it like a community center? Also, do y'all think that Daniel could be Mia's brother? He has red hair and freckles just like her. He also has brownish eyes so he would basically be the boy version of G1 Mia.
  4. There's a new character Daniel in the set with Mia's Treehouse who has brown hair in a style similar to Farran from Lego Elves. I'm glad they are at least including one boy as a minor character because they often neglect the boys. The treehouse itself is okay I guess . . . . it has a door in it though which strikes me as odd for a treehouse, but anyway. It's hard to see it, but Emma's art truck looks like an interesting set with an easel. I like to draw so I think it's cool that they dedicated a set to art. They have new clothing pieces! I actually think the reboot was a really good idea. They kept enough elements the same (i.e. their names) but still were able to change their appearances without making the change too overwhelming.
  5. Exactly, that's why I wasn't sure if she was supposed to be Asian or not, but it seems like that was the intention. I completely agree about Andrea! With Mia and the green eyes . . . isn't it better to be more accurate if most redheads have either green or blue eyes? I guess because Olivia is the "smart one" the stereotype would be to give her glasses. I'm glad the minidolls weren't changed because then I'd have to collect them all over again. I like them to be the same.
  6. I'm kind of freaking out right now! They redesigned the friends!!! Emma with brown eyes and Mia with green eyes . . . I can't wait to see how the others look. It kind of gives you a hint in the artwork and Olivia has glasses! Wow, I'm so excited. I need some people's opinions on this, do you think that Emma looks Asian? And do you think Olivia is supposed to be Latina, or is she just very tanned? Based on the artwork, Emma, Andrea, and Olivia have brown eyes (which makes sense since brown is the most common eye color) Mia has green, and Stephanie still has blue eyes. So we will at least be getting four new heads for Andrea, Mia, and Emma, and also Olivia because of her glasses.
  7. Now that I think about it, it is kind of unfortunate that it doesn't match the other faces. I wonder if the eyes of Cinderella and Elsa will also be redesigned? I really don't want to have to collect them all over again, but Ariel will stick out from the others with her different eyes, so I might have to. About the build and swap feature, it looks like some parts of the sets will be interchangeable. That should be interesting!
  8. Isn't anyone interested in or curious about the build and swap feature the new sets seem to be implementing??? Ariel has a new face and her eyes are different. I think it looks nice and I also like her pink dress. It uses that new poofy skirt piece. Not sure how I feel about the Merriweather fairy . . . something about the face is throwing me off but oh well, what can you do. Maleficent is BEAUTIFUL! I love her dress! Her design is so amazing.
  9. Looking at the sets again, I actually like the designs of some of the animals. They seem to be a lot smaller than the dragons, which I like, and there's more variety with the different species. Even though the dragons had some variation with their legs and other details, they were still all DRAGONS. I mean, I would have been okay with having one or two, but for me, I really don't need to collect 5+ dragons, when they're so similar. So yeah, I like the different species and I'll probably get Noctura's tower, and maybe even the set with Aira, depending on how the building looks in the final pictures. But that's just me .... I know a lot of people like to collect the dragons, and I assume the same goes for collecting the animals. (I do love animals though, so story-wise, I can't wait to see how the animals factor into this!)
  10. Thanks! I know I'm probably in the minority, but I actually didn't get any sets in 2016 that contained dragons. I really liked some of the buildings, but the dragons would have just been "extra" for me. Now next year there aren't even that many buildings. I don't even know if I'll get Noctura's tower since the fox is in it.
  11. Sometimes some Disney Princess sets are released earlier than January, like in November or December. Does anyone know if that might happen this year and with what sets? Also, I'm really looking forward to the sets! The Sleeping Beauty castle looks great with Maleficent, and even though we have a lot of Ariel sets already, that boat looks amazing! I'll probably get both of those. I get what people are saying that there's been a lot of Cinderella and Frozen, while Mulan, Pocahontas and Tiana are being neglected. But think of this - Pocahontas, Mulan and Tiana spent most of their movie outside. There might not be as many buildings or locations that they could turn into sets compared to the other princesses. I guess Tiana's restaurant could work but otherwise she spent most of the movie as a frog too, so there's that to think of. But I mean, what would they even do for Pocahontas? A cliff??? I agree though that it's unfortunate that the first set with Mulan is small, so I can see why that would be disappointing to some people. But Snow's is a junior set, so it kind of makes sense that it's simpler and smaller. Of the sets I've seen - Ariel's boat, Cinderella's castle, Aurora's castle, Elsa, and Mulan - I think they all look wonderful. I wouldn't blame the creators of LEGO, personally I think it's Disney's influence. Even with other merchandise, Tiana, Pocahontas, and Mulan often don't get the same exposure that the other princesses do. And if the Frozen sets are popular and selling well, it would only make sense for them to keep making more, even though it gets annoying to some of us. To summarize, I like the sets for 2018 and I think the creators of Lego are doing an amazing job.
  12. Forgive me for not knowing this, but when is the New York Toy Fair? Is it in February 2018? I thought usually it was in October or November.
