  1. UPDATE 5/10/18 The Kenworth has been completed, totaling 72 hours of build time. Only one Bricklink order was made during the building process, and that was just for the metal hook! I will find some time in the next few weeks to get it filmed. I'll try to get the video uploaded before the end of the month as I will be moving across the country next month. As of right now, I plan to display this MOC at the BrickFair Lego Expo in Chantilly, VA this August.
  2. Thanks! I'll check it out sometime.
  3. I've yet to add the rear exhausts, which will be gray. I'll probably make the side and hood mirrors gray as well. If possible I may also experiment with custom stickers to mark the door on the sleeper. They're supposed to represent windows, but I get it, they're ridiculously hard to reproduce in Lego, so I just kinda approximated it. I didn't want to make it a flat top, as it would look rather boring. Unfortunately it's difficult for me to get chromed pieces - I'm 17 and my parents don't let me order from international stores like Chrome Block City, and they're pretty expensive as well. There will be some gray coming in though, such as the exhausts, side mirrors, and front grille.
  4. UPDATE 4/21/2018 As promised, I made lots of progress on this MOC the past few days. The entire cabin is now complete, and it's only missing the hood now (as well as some minor details like mirrors and exhausts). Below is a summary of this weekend's progress: Engine model changed to yellow to represent a Caterpillar engine Interior completed with seats, dashboard, steering wheel, bed, and TV Completed roof with the raised section above the sleeper (not sure what you call that part) and doors At this point the truck is really starting to take shape. Overall, it looks pretty realistic, although there were some parts that look overly simplified (the windows on the raised part of the roof, for instance). If you guys have any suggestions for me, please let me know. Photos:
  5. I'll see. 6L seems way too long as it's even longer than the height of the door, which is 5 studs; I think 2-3 studs max for the straight and angled beams. What do you mean by rotate 360 degrees? There isn't anything with the mirrors that would require full rotations. What I'm really trying to see is how I can make the part where the the straight and angled beams meet near the mirror. There doesn't seem to be an easy way to hold them with it being so small. That looks awesome! Looks really futuristic. I really like those Ferrari-ish wheel covers.
  6. Do you know any clips that can hold a bar at 45 degrees? There’s not much attachment space so I’ll have to make it as small as possible.
  7. Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely put that into consideration as I keep building. BTW do you have any suggestions as to how I make the rear view mirrors? The attachment looks really thin and I have no clue how to get that angled beam in there at such a small scale.
  8. UPDATE 4/19/18 Lots of progress on the truck. I decided to focus on the sleeper section instead of the hood for this update, as it seemed a lot more straightforward to build. At this point the interior is pretty much complete, with seats, dashboard, and bed all in place. I do plan on adding some details in the interior, such as a TV above the bed. I've also routed the steering mechanism to the back of the cab, like how it's done on the 42078. Fortunately I've got a 3-day weekend ahead of me, so expect a lot of progress in the next few days. I'll be focusing on the roof, which could potentially be the most difficult part of the build due to all the weird angles in the part that sticks up above the sleeper (not sure what you call that). I'll try to do a lot of building the next 3 days and hopefully finish it before the end of the month. If you guys have any suggestions for me, please let me know. Photos:
  9. Black a lot of the stuff here is similar to the Mack anthem, because ig that’s how most US trucks look. As I move onto the bodywork a lot of stuff will probably be distinct from the Mack anthem.
  10. UPDATE 4/7/18 There's been some good progress on this MOC lately. I've finished the bumper, which is pretty simple but I've used tiles and slopes to model the bottom of it. I've also put some simple seats in the interior, and I've added those side panels (I'm not sure what you call them) as well as the steps. Now that the chassis is essentially finished, I'll probably be modeling the hood next. I might make a Bricklink order or two in the process as I anticipate using a good amount of System pieces to model it. The sleeper section seems much more straightforward, and I'll probably try to fit a bed of some sort in there. If you guys have any advice regarding the build, please let me know. I anticipate finishing this MOC towards the end of this month at the earliest or sometime in May. Photos:
  11. This looks like such a great compliment to the Claas Xerion! I like how the scale was right on and how densely packed it looks. And the Tumbler tires look really good on it.
  12. This looks like an interesting set to me. I like how many functions were incorporated at such a small scale. One thing that I don’t really understand is - for over 500 parts, why does it look so small to me? I mean, the 9394 from 2012 had less and looked so much bigger to me. Other than that it’s a great set and has lots of interesting parts, like the black 5x7 frame.
  13. That looks so cool! I love that sticker
  14. Nah you’re good. Seeing this as a MOC I’m taking to BrickFair ig it’s true I have to be a little harder on this MOC - for example, it probably would not have gone well in terms of reception if I continued using the regular engine blocks. I’ve also started to add stuff to the chassis, such as the front bumper and the seats, and I’ll probably do another update sometime next week.
  15. Yeah. This isn't meant to be too accurate after all. I'm mostly focusing on making the body accurate. However, I did take your advice of making the engine with mini pistons, and I think it looks so much better proportionally.
  16. UPDATE 4/1/18 Hey guys, after hearing some of your guys's opinions on this MOC I decided after all that I should use a mini piston engine instead. To me this looks much more realistic now in terms of proportion, as the truck is built at a small scale. It's not exactly the same as the way it was done on the 42078, but the working principles are the same. Photos:
  17. I don’t know much about these trucks but from previous Lego technic truck sets I see rack and pinions used. If possible can you please send me a picture of such a mechanism? As for the engine, I guess I’m changing it to the 42078 kind Oh yeah that one. But I see that it’s at a larger scale. I’m thinking about ditching the regular pistons for a 42078-like engine. It won’t be identical, but will function similarly
  18. Thank you! I’m just modeling a standard version of the Kenworth T600. I’ll see how much space I have as the build progresses. I may reduce it to 4 cylinders or change it to a V6 as the current setup looks absurdly wide to me.
  19. UPDATE 3/31/18 Hey guys, I have begun work on the actual Kenworth T600 part of the MOC. I have the chassis pretty much complete by this point. The chassis is similar to that of the 42078, as I wanted to use it as a "template" to guide me as I build the body. However, the chassis is far from identical to the 42078 as I used rack-and-pinion steering instead of the linkages system (as this is more realistic) and I also used a regular piston engine instead of the one with axles and bushes as the "pistons". At this point, I want to make the chassis similar enough to the 42078 so that I can use it as a template to work with, but I don't want it to be too similar. This is why I used a different steering mechanism and piston engine. However, I'm debating whether to keep the engine as it is, or should I use something like the 42078's? I know real Kenworth T600's don't use flat 6's, but I don't want it to feel like I'm copying the 42078 either. If you guys have any advice regarding the build, please let me know. Photos:
  20. Thanks! I agree.
  21. I’d love to see it in dark azure! It’s one of those “emerging” colors in technic rn and I have not seen many MOCs yet in dark azure.
  22. In my opinion, this set is better from a parts standpoint, as I mostly make MOCs. It has more interesting tires, the red will compliment your collection better than lime (as red is a more common color) and it also has the newer 7x11 curved panel.
  23. Interesting project! Looks like a rally car style of vehicle. Are you planning on keeping the stickers on there or removing them? I think it would look better with them removed, as I feel that they kinda distract the looks of the vehicle.
  24. Looks like an interesting build! Never saw such a vehicle made in Lego Technic before.
