Ok thanks for the heads up, I’ll have a proper look at it later.
-
Yeah, been looking at that already. Looks like you have to take it apart to get more parts on....
-
Cool. Might not watch it live, given it took me a few hours to build the box on the bottom of the crawler. Ladder.....oh yeah. Looks bigger than the aperture it fits in. Won’t look too great dragging that around when it’s powered.

Stairs? Have I missed something?

Is that as far as you can get with the original parts list, and are you having to order a significant amount of extra pieces to build the front sides and base it looks like?
-
Great effort there, what’s your solution for not using the motors and then supporting the side structure of the track bogeys? I’m mulling over doing something similar. I notice that there should be a smaller set of tracks used in the interior that aren’t on the instructions yet too. It’s bigger than I thought and I’ve seen the original as well. The level of greebling adds a nice level of detail I believe.

You lost me at url.

Is there an easy way of sharing photos via an iPad? I’ve uploaded photos to my Flickr account but then even reading the tutorial it seems more geared towards desktop computers.
-
Crikey, I can’t even manage to upload a photo onto this forum yet!
-
Good luck, I’ve made all the main track gear so far. Enjoying it now it’s begun.
-
Sorry can’t do it on my iPad due file size. If you go to page 419 of the instructions and not 419 of the pdf document, and there is a gap on either side of the centre line.

Lucky for me I’ve built my own table 8’x4’, or I may use the kids table tennis table! But that still hasn’t stopped me buying a load of plastic storage boxes to help reduce the ‘manhunt’ for one brick! I’ll check the instructions and see if I can help, but your wat ahead of me already. I know you mentioned the use of new bricks, but did you have to make any substitutions? See what you mean now. Looks maybe like a 3x2 space. Looking at Cavegod’s FLICKR account; it simply looks like 1x3 reddish brick, QTY 4. I’m thinking maybe reverse a couple of 2x2 panels with side supports and then add a couple of 1x1 on top of each other to plug the gap.

I’m nearly there now with parts and I think I’ll make a start over this weekend. I imagine that there will be a couple of parts missing that may hold up the build, but I’ve been obsessively collecting now for a couple of months and want to have to have something to show for it. Fingers crossed.
-
Yeah I noticed that too, I’ve built the AT-AT and that is hugely tricky to put together and display.
-
About £1200. But I haven’t got to the point where I need to order the extra parts you previously mentioned. Hoping that they’re not too rare or expensive. I’m going to stick with version one of the build, as haven’t yet figured out the changes introduced by the recent manual update. How is your build coming along? Any photos?
-
Anyone added up their BrickLink order total costs yet? I just did..........
-
Great. Can you email me the new parts list/manual please?
-
Good going there. Any idea how many extra pieces are required roughly?
-
Cool. Great display.

I’m missing about 100 pieces only now, with a backlog from lego running 25 days behind their normal schedule having just spoken to them today. I’ve made a couple of substitutions namely the modified plate 2540, which I’ve ordered 30 from NZ and the rest I’ll change to brown. The panel 4865b , I’ve subbed for two single panels which I’ll join together to create a similar look. The tan wedge plates are super rare and probably will look just as good in DBG. I’ve decided to not power the tracks, but I will have to power the front panel as I notice the rams are actuated via rotation and cannot be moved directly. There are a couple of issues with the build that I’ve noticed during my research but I’m hoping that they’ll be rectified during the actual process of putting it together. Have you got a FLICKR account as I have enjoyed a lot of your MOC’s and improvements to the recent MF?
-
Anyone managed to start this yet? I’ve completed the tracks! still waiting for 2 orders from pick a brick, which has been a month already.
-
i believe the key to this MOC, is to be a little flexible where you can, and swap parts that are not structurally integral but will achieve the over all look and feel of the intended vehicle. I’ve been searching for parts for the last couple of weeks, and have become more strategic over trying to achieve every item with as little postage as possible. I found about £280 worth of bricks on the lego website which were cheaper than BrickLink, albeit of the more main stream colours, ultimately saving on postage cost, which no matter how much you try to perfect the MOC, will be a significant factor in overall cost. Having built the ATAT by Cavegod, I know that the level of detail and ‘greebling’ are worth the extra trouble when you can, but sometimes it’s just not possible.

Not yet, but working slowly towards it; which parts are causing you grief out of curiosity? Colour based, or just an issue getting the quantity verses brickstores?
