Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Flak Maniak replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Oh wow, that's incredible. That's great news; much more reassuring than even "everything went through", because it suggests this order got scrutiny, and is thus probably actually doable consistently! Gonna call in right now and try. Edit: Really high variance with which rep one gets. This one told me that parts that aren't listed on the website (such as the rubbery SCUBA tanks, 6342590) "we cannot place an order for" at all, not as in, not allowed, but implying almost that it was impossible. So... I guess I should call again later and try? (And they said that the snake torso wasn't available for sale yet but probably would be later.) -

Are you sure those parts won't be canceled from your order? All these unlisted parts... Well, maybe I should call in and try. Very exciting, if it's actually worked! -

Oh huh, Seabound headgear top added since I last checked. Still not the rubbery part, it seems. Guess I'll keep checking over the next day or so, and maybe more of the figure parts will be on. Snake legs also added, snake torso 0.00 though. -

Looks like a bust on Seabound figure parts. Hydro Bounty has inventory listed (unlike a day ago), but seems NONE of the new figure parts are available. -

So the new Ninjago sets are listed on B&P, but with zero inventory. The day gets closer when we will know which new parts from them we are allowed to buy... Better let us buy the underwater gear! Though, speaking of which, I can't help but dislike the fact that ALL the ninjas' glass is trans-light blue; if not several different colors, I'd have preferred a more-neutral color for the transparent parts of the underwater hoods, to better go with various custom vehicle color schemes. -

What's with the nigh-total lack of The Island figure parts on B&P? Is figure-part-access just getting way worse? Yeah yeah, months-old story, but. -

Are there any documented instances of CMF parts making it onto B&P, but WITHOUT ever appearing in regular sets? The answer is no, right? And stuff like the Tournament Knight sword making it on is just that it would be in the Blacksmith and such later, right? But, how about... Build-a-Minifigure parts? If a part is currently in production for that, is it often on B&P? Well, what I'm thinking is... That Frightening Knight CMF's torso and legs are reported to be still around, at Build-a-Minifigure stations at Lego stores. So, that would mean they're being made in Billund and/or Mexico, right? Well, what I should ask is: How would I find its parts' element IDs? (Hmm, should have asked about this when I called in earlier today.) Unrelated, can't wait for the summer 2021 parts to make it on. The underwater Ninjago parts better make it on thoroughly; I am gonna want a boatload (ha!) of them! Original underwater factions, here I come! -
Don't quote me as having said that! That's 2lazeetomakeaname's opinion! I'm on your side; I love unlicensed themes and hardly ever buy licensed sets! Even if Lego licensed some of my favorite media, I still could easily pass on it! Not that very many of the things I love would pass the brand-appropriate test, but even the ones that would, like Gravity Falls... Do I really want a Mystery Shack on my shelf? I can't say that I do.

Well, you're definitely living up to the title of the thread, so I can't really criticize you for producing a blood-boiling opinion like this one! Well done!

I know I complained about bright green earlier in this thread, and expressed my general distaste for the color. That point stands. But more specifically, I want to complain about the bright green + lime combo that is SO common in sets these days, to represent foliage. It sucks! If I were building a stylized something, I might do regular green + lime, or maaaybe regular green + bright green, or possibly just regular green or lime alone. But bright green + lime is terrible! It clashes! Bright green's too-blueness shows through so clearly! It's just so garish! If bright green were quarantined off to represent unnatural things, I think I'd accept it. You could probably use it in a space theme as a significant color and I'd like it there.

Brick-built Animals VS Molded Animals
Flak Maniak replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Even if City elephants are to have a one-piece torso (and the torso could easily be made mostly of bricks if you wanted), it just seems egregious not to have movable legs connected by Technic pins. (And again, the legs could be some mix of specialized and common parts; either way is fine, but as long as there's that pin connection between the two, then a] you get articulation and b] you can use the legs or torso on other custom creations.) Even if the torso is a specialized piece and the legs are a specialized piece each, that's still better than being immovable. Hmm, do we know how the head connects to the body? Maybe it's possible to use JUST the head, and make the rest out of normal parts to have some functionality. At that scale, it should work fine. -
The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
Flak Maniak replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Here's my complaint of the day: There aren't enough (especially modern) canopies available in trans-neon green. Trans-bright green is fine, but it's not the same, and I don't like mixing them. I wanna see 21849 and 92579 in trans-neon green! I don't really care what kinds of sets they'd be in; as long as they put them in at least one set and then on B&P, that's good enough for me. I'll buy a dozen of each. I suppose while I'm at it, I'd like those two in trans-dark blue and trans-neon orange, too. A line of space sets, without any new parts or recolors, would be less useful to me than those two recolors.- 991 replies

Are there many notable custom sailmakers one can commission?
Flak Maniak replied to Flak Maniak's topic in LEGO Pirates
I did most of it in Aseprite. I took one of the minifigure photos from Brickset (little did I know it was a lower-res version of one on BrickLink!) and put the Black Falcon logo in the middle and drew the stripes by hand and flattened the colors of the logo and then touched it up slightly. Very low-tech; yes if you were preparing this for actual custom sailmaking you'd want to start with a very high-res image of the logo and, as you say, make some vector thing with it. But I'm not experienced in those vector art programs, and I was just making quick proof-of-concept mockups anyway. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
Flak Maniak replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
The Hydro Bounty doesn't look small to me; from the pictures it looks to be well over 60 studs long, counting the thrusters. Sure, it's slim, but it is REALLY long. -
Classic base plates being retired by February 2022
Flak Maniak replied to wesker's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You can put a baseplate on top of a plate, which brings it up to the height of two plates. Which is great because two plates is the height of a road plate. -

Yeah but people in this thread have claimed to actually have ordered capes successfully. How'd they do it? And I specifically asked the sales rep if those were orderable, if they counted as licensed; they even consulted with a supervisor on it! They had to leave the phone and come back! Edit: Also come on why are they taking two whole weeks to figure out that they don't want to sell me that particular part? If they'd said "we must cancel this part" in hours or a day, okay sure, I wouldn't have even been that surprised. But two whole weeks later? (And again, it's still listed on B&P, element 6117766! Yeah it says "out of stock", but it's still on there!) -

I was going to come here and vent my frustration about an email I just got from Lego, with the following text that I have transcribed instead of copy/pasting, because copy/pasting it irreparably broke the formatting of the whole post on Eurobricks: And then they listed the numbers: 6117770 PP BOX S - CAPE and 6216106 PROTECTIVE BAG, MINI ACCESSORY, NO. 3 The first is the black new-material capes (RIP) and the second is the superhero power burst set I'm pretty sure. So uh, yeah, even though the guy over the phone told me I could order these (And they're still listed on B&P right now!), uh, apparently they just Decided not to sell them to me. "A technical error made them appear in the Bricks & Pieces assortment and we've corrected this error now." is just a lie. They're still listed, with prices (albeit as out of stock). (Keep in mind that the element IDs on B&P for these are not the same as the ones above; whenever there's a prepacked thing in your order, it shows up in the order details as a different ID number than it does when you're placing the order.) Look, if it were just "some reps will sell you the capes and others won't" (as has been said many times earlier in this thread), then okay, sure, whatever. But... This shit's something else. To those of you who successfully ordered capes... Uh, how'd you do it? Why was YOUR order not canceled out of the blue like this? -

Still messing around with these; not sure this color combo with the yellow outline works very well, but here it is: Or, maybe a grey outline works better? It just feels like the Black Falcons logo SHOULD be in white-and-black, as is traditional, even if my white-and-yellow one might look best... Edit: Three more. Still really unsure what's best here. I think I'm going way off the rails with this latest batch. -

How do I delete my post? This post's formatting has been irreparably broken by cutting and pasting some text from an email from Lego. -

Perhaps not the most pirates-related, but related to sails and custom sails, the other day I was fiddling around making mockup Black Falcon sail concepts; here are the ones I made. Which one looks best to you? -

Anyone have an element ID for the series 21 Centaur Warrior's torso? -
How many people like this are not buying much Lego, though? Well, what I mean is... Yeah I myself don't buy that many sets. But, I buy lots of parts on B&P/BrickLink. And I imagine most "I like this old theme and that's it" fans are the same as I am (though I'm not only into old themes); we can build whatever we want in that old theme, or in our own styles. Of course we're just going to buy big stacks of parts. (Well, I'm biased towards this in that even as a kid, I constantly would think "I want a lot more of part X in color A", and be frustrated that I didn't know of a reasonable way to get them; I was at the mercy of sets.) Or, think of it like this. If you're a fan specifically of some IP first and happen to have some Lego that depicts that IP, are you very likely to trawl BrickLink at three in the morning for parts for an original creation? Probably not. But, if your interest is Lego first, if you're chasing the dreams you had as a kid, the hazy memories of the huge dioramas you'd see in catalogues or at stores... Well, you're the target market for BrickLink/B&P.
