  1. This seems so strange! - I mean Dark Knight Returns Joker is cool if surprising. It's not exactly the most LEGO-friendly Batman story. And the Doctor Who / Pete Venkman hairpiece in green would work great for an Arkham series Joker but doesn't really look anything like his hair in either the original comic or the animated movie of DKR. - Having Supes in his Rebirth costume is massively uninspired. The whole point of that was to go back to a more traditional like costume anyway. I would have loved a Kingdom Come Supes, but after seeing the first appearance Wonders and Bats, i would have bet hard money on a First Appearance Superman. - Bat-Mite. I mean kinda cool, but I thought we were supposed to be getting a Bat villain that isn't currently on LEGO shelves? Joker has never really left LEGO shelves and Bat-Mite isn't a villain... I kinda feel like this character would have been better as an accessory to another minifig but I guess we'll have to see how he's done. - Jay Garrick. Really the only one of the last 4 that I'm happy about.
  2. I think they know that, they're just saying that if it were a 20/22 minifig series then those are the other characters they'd include.
  3. Awesome choices! I NEED a Zatanna minifigure!
  4. Yeah, the original poster got called out and then they admitted it and posted the source pics they used to create it. The slime was from the Paintballer minifigure and the tear on hi hoodie was from one of the LEGO City prisoner torsos that wears a torn vest.
  5. Just seen a leaked Ninjago minifig using Jack's hood and baseball cap piece in new colours. Black hood and reddish brown for the cap with camo style printing in dark and olive green. Really cool to see the piece in a different colour and even though the matching torso piece has a Ninjago symbol on it, I could easily see them both being used to create an alternate costume for Jack. Speaking of variants. Seems the "leaked" slimed up Jack minifig has been revealed to be a fake Photoshop job... I'm still hoping that we'll get some new versions of the characters in different costumes for the next wave though.
  6. Are there two threads for LEGO Hidden Side 2020? The new Jack minifig sounds interesting!
  7. Just for fun. But I did a short video pitching my idea for a Hidden Side World Tour with a set based on the Russian witch, Baba Yaga. It would be awesome if you could give it a watch and let me know what you think!
  8. One of the most frequently played TV spots focused on a scene where Emmett is belittled in a misguided attempt at promoting "feminism" (I use inverted commas because true feminism is about equality) - "So, you fought and master-built and kicked butt, and then the hapless male was the leader?" There's no doubt in my mind that this played a part in the film's poor turnout by putting off a lot of its core target audience, (i.e. young boys). I've heard from many of my friends and coworkers that they felt the movie was too preachy and pandering. And also that their kids got bored and didn't like the new characters. The first movie had a simple message it wanted to send and everything in that movie works together to convey that message. This felt a lot more like they were just blanket-bombing trending topics in an attempt to be relevant and appear virtuous in the current social climate. Like I said, I think a bunch of bad decisions are to blame, more than any one thing.
  9. Thanks. Feels so odd that they have left it so long after the other Anniversary sets.
  10. Sorry to jump in and derail the conversation, just wondering if anyone on here knows when we're getting the Obi Wan Kenobi Star Wars 20th Anniversary polybag? I had thought it would be for Triple Force Friday but....
  11. Odd. I don't know why the seller would bother to add different bases. They have been asked if they have a pic of the packaging but they haven't replied, just liked the comment...
  12. Just seen someone selling Stargirl, Metamorpho, Simon Baz and Sinestro for £12 each on a Facebook group. Looks like this series will come with red base plates. Can't see from the photos if they have any printing like TLBM series 2 figs though.
  13. I think a bunch of bad decisions killed what could have been a long-running franchise. For starters, waiting five year to release the direct sequel to a children's movie is always a bad idea. The original audience will be too old to still be interested in the same stuff they were five years ago, and not yet old enough to be rediscovering the things they loved as a child. The LEGO Batman Movie was already pushing it, arriving three years later (ideally for something like this, you want to be releasing a new film every 2 years). Then they released both TLBM and The LEGO Ninjago movie in the same year, which created considerable brand fatigue and took away the excitement of a new LEGO movie being a special event. On top of that, The LEGO Ninjago Movie had no clear audience. It completely alienated the themes existing core fanbase by jettisoning the existing continuity, cast and lore from the successful television series. But then presented a world where new audiences were given little introduction to the characters and mechanics of this world and relied more on an established knowledge of what Ninjago was already. Then you have the LEGO Movie 2 itself which, seemingly not satisfied with arriving on screens several years too late, decides that its more concerned with scoring points on their SJW stamp card than telling an entertaining and engaging story (Meow!). It's a real shame as I absolutely adore the first LEGO Movie and The LEGO Batman Movie was great too. And the idea of a LEGO movie that is a mashup of Wacky Races and Cannonball Run sounds ridiculously entertaining! I just seriously doubt it will now ever see the light of day.
  14. Thanks for checking it out! Yeah, that was pretty cool to have them comment. I am looking forward to getting the spooky Pizza Boy minifig next month. Bit surprised that they're not releasing a special mag for October/Halloween though - the first issue came out in September and the next one comes out in November, so they're skipping over it completely... Might be worth mentioning that the current LEGO City mag also comes with a more generic Pizza Delivery Boy with a motorcycle and a printed Pizza box tile. Could combine the two for some extra fun!
  15. If it weren't for the Sinestro minifigure, at this point I'd be wagering that this is going to be just DC Super Heroes and we could get a DC Super Villains series in the future as a follow-up.
  16. 90s Aquaman is pretty neat although it does have that cutting cost feel that Wonders has by using the same head and hairpiece as the Aquaman that came in Batman Batsub and the Underwater Clash set. Have we ever had a CMF series that used previous prints before? Mister Miracle looks pretty cool but not a character I am any particular attachment to. Bumblebee is a mixed bag. Top half looks decent if unremarkable. Bottom half is disappointing - plain black legs in a CMF series, really? I know it's not gonna happen. But I just really want a Kingdom Come Superman.
  17. Yeah, Huntress seems to be the only one that doesn't fit the "first appearance" approach...
  18. So the first appearance Wonders is the first disappointment for me. Besides it all but destroying any chances of getting a Kingdom Come Superman. It also just looks terrible! - The flesh tone on her torso is so bad. For the most part CMF minifigs have until now been immune to the decreasing quality in opacity. But this is bad bad. - The skirt is way too oversized and looks silly and jarring. - Using the same old hair piece they've been using for almost 8 years is needlessly cheap! This has made me wonder though. Are all the minifigs revealed so far, based on their first appearances?
  19. Okay, my wish list for the the remaining minifigures... - Zatanna - Doctor Fate - Kingdom Come Superman - Wonder Woman Odyssey - Power Girl (I know, doubtful!) - Jay Garrick - The Phantasm - Red Tornado - Booster Gold - Ventriloquist The Phantasm is being brought into comic canon soon (which I would be excited for if it weren't for the fact that it is being written by Tom king...) and Ventriloquist is rumoured to be appearing in The Suicide Squad movie...
  20. Yeah, exactly the same here! I really love Hidden Side but the Monster Fighters train was a lot better than the Hidden Side one.
  21. Donna Troy in her classic starfield costume would really please my missus. She has a massive soft spot for that character, especially in that costume. I'm still betting on a Kingdom Come Supes rather than first appearance. I don't know why but I'm also wondering if they might round out the trilogy with a Wonder Woman Odyssey minfigure...
