I'll probably be out of town over the weekend so that's OK if you need another day or two Bloody Jay. -

Not sure when/if we'll be doing another as we haven't started this one yet but if we do so, you bet. -
CLUES Murder Mystery Start Date

Bloody Jay: appreciate all of your efforts to build this model. I'm sure it's taken a lot of work and time. I made it back today and although wanted to start tomorrow, I'm sure a few days won't make a big difference. This should be pretty neat and something that we haven't done before. -
CLUES Murder Mystery Background
WesternOutlaw replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Very similar to how Murder on the Lego Express was conducted. Each participant is trying to solve the following: Where was the murder? What was the weapon? Who was the murderer? The murderer will be the most difficult to solve. The first participant to post the correct answers to me in a PM will be the winner. Clues will be provided both to the group and privately based on special knowledge. Generally, the whole team will be together obtaining the same clues. -
CLUES Each of you will receive a single CLUE re. another character. The CLUE could have meaning (or) be irrelevant to the mystery. No responses are necessary and no further information re. these CLUES will be provided.

Darth Ewok: this is fine. I'll just write you in when you make it back. Just let me know. -
BACKGROUND You have received an international call from someone who says his name is Pete Falklin. Some of you recognize his voice as the Security Officer of the European Lego Express, whom you thought you

Hi Sarg: Please check your messages. I'm not sure why but I don't have your message in either my "in" or "deleted" messages. Would you mind providing your answers to me again privately. Thanks. Orlego, appears that Sarg is in. My apologies, but we'll make sure to reserve you a place for next time. (PS. I will be out next week but just catching up on some Email).

This looks like a great set. Thanks for posting the images. I most like Vladek's side and the case. I will definately be buying this one.

Sorry for the delay, but we plan to start the CLUES Murder Mystery: Mystery at Crowley Mansion on June 26. Bloody Jay has been building the mystery mansion and I've been working on writing various components of the story. Since I'll be out June 13 - 25, we've just decided to start when I get back which also gives Bloody Jay time to complete the house. By now, each of you should have received a private mesage with your character profile. Keep in mind that none of the other charcters know your background or the details provided. Some of these details will be be revealed during the mystery which will make the story more intriguing. If you have questions re. your character, just let me know privately. Brickster

I'd honestly prefer a mold like the elephant with fewer pieces than the Bionicle wolf (or even a a mold similar to what Mega Blocks does for it's dragons). For a cybor-robot-mutant-space theme, this construction would be great, but it's just too mechanical/robotic for the age of Vikings. Agree with you re. the monkey.
-
I like the ship and the fort the best. But I have to agree with some of the other comments re. the Bionicle creatures. The use of Bionicle parts give the creatures a robotic look. Don't care for this at all - esp. the wolf which looks more like a futuristic mechanical robot in the age of Vikings - just doesn't go together well. Aside from the creatures, I like the sets and will most definately buy the large ship at a minimum.

PHOTO REVIEW - Vladek's Dark Fortress!
WesternOutlaw replied to The Middleman's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I found two of these sets at TRU today and had to buy one based on Bloody Jay's excellent photos. I have to admit that I really don't care much for Knight's Kingdom being a classic yellow castle and 80s castle fan, but this is a pretty nice set. Castle used to be my favorite theme and I've really gotten away from it with all the <insert that tiresome argument> pieces. I'd like to put this in the center of my town now. I like the black pieces and the new armor most in this set. The Power Ranger Knights Quartet, on the other hand I could do without. I suppose the rainbow knights appeal to the kids. Have not built the set yet, but looks pretty nice. The alternate images/ideas on the box look pretty good too, esp. the ship. Thanks again for taking the time to post images Bloody Jay. You sold me on the set. -
We won't delay the mystery for him or Sarg Kulo if; when we get ready to start, they haven't provided their character information or sigfig/costumes. I'm still doing some writing and Bloody Jay is diligently working on building his "special project". After this, we'll be starting, and if at this point, we haven't heard from them, we'll continue without them with just 10 participants. I will unfortunately be out of town on June 13-24 without computer access. Will have to place the mystery on hold during this time. Bloody Jay has something in mind to keep you a little occupied while I'm out.

Chewie, you can definately be in the next mystery (if and when we do one). This is similar to the Murder on Lego Express mystery but is called CLUES. 12 participants will be entering the old mansion to discover clues that relate to the mystery "whodunit". Eurobricks is even providing small minis to the winners. Bloody Jay is designing a special project to illustrate the story and each character is deciding what their character looks like (in this post). He is building the figs and we'll be using them as avatars. We needed to limit the participants to 12 based on the story. This is a new concept, but I think it will be fun. You can most definately follow along, but as Mr. Lego Builder has indicated, no participation from those watching "outside the mansion". Take care. Brickster.

Keep in mind that no one has been in this house yet, rooms and other details have not been provided. In regard to each person having a room, this is false. This is not CLUE although some similarities exist (like the weapons). You are aware of no special items (like the sarcophagus, and Bloody Jay will not build items in the house for the purpose of making a room match your character). It's probably not a big thing, but I don't like the idea of a pharaoh or a walking mummy character. This is suppose to be a "real" scenerio vs. fantasy or sci-fi. Bloody Jay and I discussed this at some length and decided not to have pirates and other historic or fantasy characters. This makes clues and story writing pretty bizarre. In addition, I realize that some of you are eager to start, but Bloody Jay and I are still working out some of the details. He's working on his project and I'm still developing characters and the story line. ASAP is not necessary.
