I've wanted to build this for years. I love Winter Village layouts, but I don't have the space to build one. Instead, I've built this MOC (MOD?): it's the first six main buildings of the Winter Village theme (from 2009-2017) fused together into one building. I skipped Market (2013) and Holiday Train (2016), since these sets don't contain a main building, and included Toy Shop (2009/2015) only once. It was a challenge to transform all buildings into the same size and same layout - some were trickier than the others. There are a few inaccuracies and color swaps, because I don't own all the original sets.

Well, not exactly randomly, there was a build-up. Olivia went to the Space Academy in set 41713. In the backstory, Olivia's father was an astronaut, too - and the time away from his family caused him and Olivia's mother to divorce. By the way, it is nice to see Julian in both Space Academy and Mars Space Base. He was Olivia's lab partner and was presented as her potential boyfriend - but the time skip happened before we could learn if they got together.

Those magazines with Lego included.

In Hungary we have Explorer by publisher Egmont, and Friends, Ninjago, Ninjago Legacy, Batman, City, Star Wars, Avengers, Jurassic World, and Minecraft by publisher Blue Ocean. Egmont has a nice list of the Explorer issues (in Hungarian): http://egmont.hu/magazinok/Lego-Explorer Unfortunately, Blue Ocean doesn't seem to have a similar list. -
I think MLP is definitely a possibility. Back in 2012 when Ideas was still Cuusoo, a My Little Pony project gained more than 7000 votes over 3 months. At that point Lego rejected the project and the main reason for that was that the property was owned by Hasbro. That project contained a great concept of legofied ponies, it's worth a look.

The closest thing I can think of is the beginning of the 2020 holiday ad: a father and son are playing with a Friends set (I think it's 41424 Jungle Rescue Base). https://www.lego.com/en-us/aboutus/news/2020/november/rebuild-the-holidays/

There are boys in the promotional photos and videos of multiple Friends sets. Here are some examples: https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/heartlake-city-movie-theater-41448 https://www.lego.com/en-si/product/magical-funfair-roller-coaster-41685 https://www.lego.com/en-au/product/heartlake-city-amusement-pier-41375 https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/friendship-bus-41395 https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/heartlake-city-vet-clinic-41446 https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/tiger-hot-air-balloon-jungle-rescue-41423 At the moment, the very first image at https://www.lego.com/en-us/themes/friends/about features both a boy and a girl.

LEGO Ideas Discussion

I wonder what the secret of the new Knight Rider idea is. To be honest, I have also thought of submitting a Knight Rider project. The first thing I did is that I checked earlier KR projects - and there were about 100 of them in 'Gathering support' and 'Expired' states, none of them being particularly successful. So I figured that it wasn't a popular theme and dropped the idea. But this new project skyrocketed, it gathered 3000 votes in a week. I'm not jealous, I'm curious. What makes this project so different to the other KR projects? -
I mean LEGO recently used golden minifigs in both Ninjago and Harry Potter anniversary sets.
-
Hm... 10th anniversary of Friends... that must mean golden minidolls!

Unpopular Opinions about LEGO
teljesnegyzet replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't have any insider information. I only know what I read in articles and interviews. For one project, Lego gathered a group of boys and asked them to build a Lego castle together. Separately, they gave the same task to the group of girls. Both groups worked together to build the castle, but once it was assembled, there were stark differences in how the two groups proceeded. “The boys immediately grabbed the figures and the horses and the catapults and they started having a battle,” McNally said. “The facilitator said, ‘What about the castle?’ And they said, ‘Well, that’s just the backdrop for the battle.’” The girls, on the other hand, were more focused on the structure—and not too impressed with what they found. “They all looked around inside the castle and they said, ‘Well, there’s nothing inside,’” McNally said. (Source: https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2016/05/legos/484115/ ) The minidoll went through many iterations. One of the first steps was a taller (but still blocky) minifig, then it became curvier. You can see some of the prototypes in a photo here: https://forum.brickset.com/discussion/27994/how-i-think-lego-should-improve-the-minidoll Okay, so staying on topic: I appreciate the clever geometry of the Erling brick, but I've always found it hard to incorporate it in my builds. I was glad when LEGO introduced the "Brick, Modified 1 x 1 with Stud on 1 Side". -
Unpopular Opinions about LEGO

I'm not talking about "pink and glitter and frills and conflict-free scenarios". The LEGO Group did a four-year long research to find out why girls don't like "regular" LEGO. One thing they found out is that boys play like if they were movie directors. The minifigs are actors, and boys are commanding them in 3rd person. Girls, on the other hand, choose a figure as their avatar, and playing like a role-playing game or video game. As if they were shrunk like in Polly Pocket. Girls didn't find blocky minifigs relatable avatars, hence minidolls were created. Another difference is that boys prefer to finish the build first and then play with it, while girls prefer to build a little, play with it, build again, etc. This is why Friends sets usually contain several submodels. These are not my assumptions, this is what the research found out. -

Friends theme exists specifically because _most_ girls don't like "regular" LEGO, and Friends was designed to appeal them. There's nothing wrong with admitting that boys and girls _usually_ prefer different things, and _usually_ play differently. The problem is when people/parents think _all_ girls must only play with Friends and mustn't play with other themes, and boys the other way around. -

Anybody who ever created a project on Ideas knows that getting the 10000 supports in time is really hard. Some statistics: Out of 32181 projects only 345 did it - so about 1%. Out of 32181 projects 396 gathered at least 5000 supports (including the 345 from the previous line) - still about 1%. Out of 32181 projects 665 gathered at least 2500 supports (including the 396 from the previous line) - about 2%. I don't think these numbers are so huge. If they artificially lower the number of votes and thus make reaching the goal even harder, I'm sure I won't even try to submit a new project. -

The Lighthouse is an odd choice for me. Don't get me wrong - there's nothing wrong with the model. Just... we had multiple lighthouses. Multiple Creator lighthouses, Friends lighthouses, horror lighthouses (in Scooby-Doo and Hidden Side) - but clearly people supported another lighthouse and Lego agrees and says there's market for one more. -
What I was trying to say is: Teaching children that "people with disabilites are perfectly normal and they are just one of us" is a great thing. But the right way to do it is just randomly include minifigs and minidolls with disabilities in sets where any other figure could be instead. It has the message that they aren't different. This vet and 60134 Fun in the Park are good examples. In the case of the bus, the girl with the wheelchair isn't just a random passenger. If you replaced her, the set would become somewhat pointless, because it is centered around her. Maybe it's just me, but it can be interpreted as "she isn't normal, she needs a special Lego set" instead of "she is just like the others".
